The funnel style traps work best in my opinon. I purchased some standard $7 minnow traps and cut the opening from 1" to about 2-1/2" and baited them with fresh bluegil. The best I've done with them was 209 over night (out of 4 traps) in a small river about 14 feet wide and 3 foot deep right under the natural rock dam. Always trap right below a dam if you can, theres alot more oxygen in the water at dams so theres always more crawfish there.

@imabandgeek87 The real differences I've noticed is that with the bigger the hole the bigger the crawfish, Using the 1" hole I was getting alot of 1.5 and 2" long craws, I eat them so I wanted bigger then that and after widening the holes I've got averages of 4.5" craws, some up to 8". And with the wider hole I keep catching small catfish, but they end up just being more bait for the next line of traps.

@imabandgeek87 Its about the same here in Ohio, but the wildlife officers don't mind if its problem/bait fish like carp, bullhead catfish, suckers, bluegil, chubs and shad. Some of our officers will even let you keep undersize limit fish if they feel there are tomany of the fish species in the body of water your fishing.

for bait just use the leftovers from a fish that you cleaned (head, guts) that way you can throw the little ones back then catch them later when there bigger
