Ray is a gold mine of good ideas. I often learn of things that I would never have thought of myself by watching him. He is a good communicator of his knowledge. There is so much in survival videos on YouTube that are not so hot. Ray's shows are always good.

@genetrumbo He is very good, I would love to discuss a few things with him , if I ever get the chance, but as a whole he is far far better the Les Stroud,  If you follow his advice in the wild... you will die.

Lofty Wiseman is better, more useful, more realistic, funnier, thinner, more interesting and more practical. I'm sure Mears has kicked off a fad in survival for modest, short length knives which don't offend anyone. We want military survival, not coffee table book survival.

@gliderama i'm sorry, thinner? how the hell is that relevant? Wiseman knows his stuff, but ray makes really interesting programs and sure as hell knows his stuff. in response to your comment on modest, short length knives, they are more practical for survival and bushcraft, being lighter, and if you know what you are doing with them, are completely up to the job.
