I just picked up this game for $15 as an afterthought. WTF ITS AMAZING HOW HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS GAME?????? It's like bringing me back to when I was 8 playing FF7 it's so amazing and old school, that last of a dying breed.
I can't believe some people are saying that Lost Odyssey suck and was a waist of time and money. Lost Odyssey was epic, thrilling, suspensful and is the best JRPG that I've playes in years. Now I'm a Final Fantasy Fanatic but to be completly honest FFXIII wasn't even close to being as good as Lost Odyssey. Maybe because I'm a HUGE FAN of turn based JRPG's. FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, Legend of the Dragoon are my Favorite JRPG's of all time. FFXI and FFXII was a complete dissapointment.
Anybody who is a true final fantasy fan would know that this game is made by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the person who made final fantasy one of the greatest titles in gaming history. (Until X-2 in my opinion) Final fantasy has seriously gone down the drain.

This is beautiful song, for an amazing game (as in, everything in it is great, gameplay, story,etc). where as in XIII the only "good" thing were the battle system, it was not perfect, but something new and it was not bad. At least Lost Odyssey had towns in it ZIIIIING
Before anyone flames me, understand I am not knocking Uematsu as a composer, he's done some phenominal stuff for sure and his compositions are befitting of the mood the characters are facing. But I do feel he should eventually retire with dignity and enjoy a well deserved vacation from it all.
This song is well done, and Uematsu not being forced to compose for just Final Fantasy has freed him to do his thing. It is definitely befitting of a battle theme, getting this game in a few days, so I am checking out some of the songs from it right now. While Uematsu certainly is quite talented, what with FF4 and FF6 under his belt, I feel his best days are behind him.
@IcedEarthaholic Creating art isn't like most jobs; you do it 'cause you love, and if you love something you don't stop doing it. If Nobuo wants to retire, retire; if he's still having a blast, who's to say he should step down? He's still doing phenomenal work, and, much as I love FF6's OST, he has a few that rival in from more recent years.
@videosandshit2 you're correct that creating music is indeed a labor of love, and I agree that Uematsu's recent works are generally consistant across the board. For me FF4 and FF6 remain his best works. Lost Odyssey certainly does have a great soundtrack though, and is definitely on par with some of his better works. I wasn't saying he should retire now, but eventually. I apologize for any misunderstanding in that regard.

Lost odyssey is one of my personal favourites for many reasons, but the story could use some extra polish...
This game would have done x10 better if it was multiplatform (PS3, PC, so on). I blame Microsoft's attempt to try and secure a JRPG on a platform that they know is geared to headbangers. They wasted their own money and Sakaguchi's. That's why this game sold less than 200k copies.
Its mostly the gameing market is overflooded by (hate to say this) shooters,
Lost odyssey and FF13 are equaly fantastic but in their own way. Honestly most JRPGs have corny drama I laugh at but I just the love the epicness in both games but lost odyssey's story was freaking amazing, characters are very likeable and not too stereotypical imo. The music and gameplay in both games are fantastic by JRPG standards.
@lPheenixl view it in a different context. By this I mean people who just ike endessy playing brainless shooters rather than fans of heavy metal. JRPGs don't make any sense to them. The PS3 crowd tends to understand games "Where you have to take turns to fight and there's this long complicated story" a bit more. That's a generalization but it isn't an untrue one.
Man, I've been looking for a cleaner rip version of this, but so far I haven't found it. It's a shame, because the stuff they added for the intro fight was awesome! The track on the official soundtrack is too short :x

This game was so amazing,mainly due to the story which was better than pretty much any game out there. I kinda hope they don't make a lost odyssey 2, as it would be near impossible to measure up to this one, as the story pretty much completes, and if the game sucks it would kill the good memories. Its funny my friend played blue dragon till there was nothing left but when he moved to this game he hated it he told me he didn't like all the dreams or flashbacks kaim has that and the way you level up is weird seeing as he grinds in RPGS a bunch I get it but when i played this game earlier today I thought it was actually pretty good those dreams aren't too bad they're actually pretty fun to read although they do go on too long sometimes and the random battles don't happen often enough
I was the only person out of all my friends to get past that worm boss on the first disc for some reason they didnt know a thing called stratification

So, this is a variation on the battle theme: The Gun Barrel of Battle (or Fire Above the Battle as I have seen it named as well). I wonder if anyone knows where I can find a high quality version of this song somewhere? This variation is not included on the soundtrack and I would like to get my hands on it.
This song appears at least twice, to my knowledge, in the game, making for a nice change of mood of battle.

I had a JRPG purchase frenzy last month. I bought Resonance of Fate (loved it, the perv jokes were Golden Boy standard, dare I say: maybe even better), Infinite Undiscovery ( ... Let's just say it's ... interesting xD Though I like relatively short games where you can do tons of stuff) and now I'm looking forward to this title. Judging by the comments, I guess this game'll blow everything else away xD Music gets a thumbs up :D
@Xozio I ENVY YOU! I really do because you are about to play for the first time one of the BEST RPGs left. Lost Odyssey was THE best RPG of all time I have ever played. Find the 1000 dreams and read all of them, they will make you cry (even if you have to use the internet). Take your time playing through it and enjoy it, PLEASE!

@valypaly3 Looking up News articles. When Square joined with Enix, one of their cut backs was certain key people in Final Fantasy. SquareEnix was going a different direction than Squaresoft. So they got rid of the main artist, storyteller, battle-designer and the man who composed the memorable themes for most of the previous final fantasies. Thus why FF11 12 and 13 are so...different.
Eh Kevin, Square Enix didnt make FF7.....Or FF8....I know it sucks to admit but Squares good old days are over. At lease we stil have epic games like 7 8 9 and 10 to remember them by right? This was supposedly be Final Fantasy 10 according to Hironobu Sakaguchi (Creator of FF 1-9) because he felt Square's Final Fantasy 10 was a screwup.
On the otherhand, Final Fantasy 10 had Epic music and gameplay, but it was way too linear. Lost Odyssey, IMO, Has a nonlinear and beautiful gameplay. Don't forget the music. :)
But really, I believe Lost Odyssey should've been FFX. :) Like this if you agree!

News flash everyone Mistwalker is a million times more epic and better than Square. Square Enix, can't even make decent games anymore really like the only good series they got anymore are Star Ocean and Kingdom Hearts. I would say Final Fantasy but there hasen't been a good one since FFX. While every Mistwalker game is very good and epic. In my view Lost Odyssey rivals FF7.

I had a JRPG purchase frenzy last month. I bought Resonance of Fate (loved it, the perv jokes were Golden Boy standard, dare I say: maybe even better), Infinite Undiscovery ( ... Let's just say it's ... interesting xD Though I like relatively short games where you can do tons of stuff) and now I'm looking forward to this title. Judging by the comments, I guess this game'll blow everything else away xD Music gets a thumbs up :D

@Xozio I ENVY YOU! I really do because you are about to play for the first time one of the BEST RPGs left. Lost Odyssey was THE best RPG of all time I have ever played. Find the 1000 dreams and read all of them, they will make you cry (even if you have to use the internet). Take your time playing through it and enjoy it, PLEASE!

@Xozio I also just barely bought this game, never got interested in xbox before but now that i have played it I'm glad i bought an xbox. The intro alone is really nostalgic for me, i feel like I'm playing final fantasy again. Ahh the good old days.

BEST STORY LINE OF ALL TIME. u can feel the emotions with all the characters as if your really in the game. Soundtrack adds to the greatness couldnt have been a better experience for me.

Ya i dont want to hear anything else about how this is a rip off of ukraine's national anthem. this is way better, way more diverse. Not to mention the bad ass drumming, badass flute section, and brass sections. yay nobuo

@ElFenixdePlata Did Nobuo really make the music from Lost Odyessy? He's the one that created much of the Final Fantasy music right? I'm not sure if he still does, but I heard he did VII's music, which was fenominal.

@valypaly3 Looking up News articles. When Square joined with Enix, one of their cut backs was certain key people in Final Fantasy. SquareEnix was going a different direction than Squaresoft. So they got rid of the main artist, storyteller, battle-designer and the man who composed the memorable themes for most of the previous final fantasies. Thus why FF11 12 and 13 are so...different.

Eh Kevin, Square Enix didnt make FF7.....Or FF8....I know it sucks to admit but Squares good old days are over. At lease we stil have epic games like 7 8 9 and 10 to remember them by right? Also to add FF7 wasnt the 1st great RPG. Many epic tales came before that :D You should look up some of the older rpgs like breath of fire and Lufia etc.

leveling your characters can be quite a pain when you got a shitty battle theme, but that's not the case with this beautiful theme!

This was supposedly be Final Fantasy 10 according to Hironobu Sakaguchi (Creator of FF 1-9) because he felt Square's Final Fantasy 10 was a screwup.
On the otherhand, Final Fantasy 10 had Epic music and gameplay, but it was way too linear. Lost Odyssey, IMO, Has a nonlinear and beautiful gameplay. Don't forget the music. :)
But really, I believe Lost Odyssey should've been FFX. :) Like this if you agree!

Persona, Tales of, final fantasy (all the FF previus the 10) lost odyssey, DUDE, those are ALL awesome game, don't go around saying FF here, mattafukka there, son of a somewhere else, dude the bad thing is that all those game are aweome, so we have more memories, and more money to spent, but also more money to spent: tales of are everywhere, persona dunno, FF are sony and lost odyssey xbox, damn i don't fucking have 900 dollars to buy all those great games!!

News flash everyone Mistwalker is a million times more epic and better than Square. Square Enix, can't even make decent games anymore really like the only good series they got anymore are Star Ocean and Kingdom Hearts. I would say Final Fantasy but there hasen't been a good one since FFX. While every Mistwalker game is very good and epic. In my view Lost Odyssey rivals FF7.
