Was there 05 took some getting use to. Day I left for london I caught the flu had it for a week but I was there for a month. Once I got use to the music, smoking and the smell of toast n Coffee I didn't want to leave. Its like a college dorm with no University. I stayed co-ed 4 bed and met many lovely ladies. lol
I had a great time when I stayed here-- I agree with busidoll that I wish there would have been a chair or two in the room, and the room I stayed in was right above the bar... there was no way of going to bed at a descent hour-- music blasting until 2am every night-- wish I could have changed to a different room. I would definately stay here again, but not above the bar.
been there 6 years ago, stayed there for 10 days...that was blast!!! next time im visiting London, thats the place i will try to stay!! its in Russell squere, so good place.
Clean room, clean and impecable white bed sheets, good duvet, good location. Problems with hot water in the morning for the whole 3 days I stayed, plain breakfast (toast. butter and jam, basic cereals, milk, coffee and tea), room a bit too hot at times and no way to control the heater, would be nice to have at least a little chair in the room. Overall ok, no big problems and clean which is always a main concern, certainly have stayed in much worse, but will try another hostel if I go back to Lon
Well, I see there are some people mentioning bad experiences in this hostel, but well... I was there 2 weeks ago and it was great!
I had already been worrying because of these bad reviews, but it was just SO GREAT. The staff was really friendly, the breakfast alright, our room bigger than imagined, the bath was very new and very very clean and big - and most of all we met sooo many kind people from all over the world.
So, it does not have to be that bad, really! We had great fun for 5 days! :)
im about to go to london and in the travel agency they are offering this hostel as a choice...but i see some of the reviews are not as good as ive thought :/
@fiorehreloaded That's depending on what you're looking for. I went 2 times to the London's Generator and I can tell you it's different to rent a 2bed room or stay in a 18-bed room. If you go with some friends I really recommend a multiple bed-room.You really meet interesting people. If you go with your partner, maybe it's not the better place to stay. The cleaning is just fair. Depends on how sensitive to that you are. Hope it helps and that you have a good time. Ask me if you need more info :)
pay 33 euros to stay in a converted prison barracks, no sleep, get pissed on at 3am by drunks and have your stuff stolen. Its a shithole, but then again, if you are trash then its the perfect place for you
its a shithole, dont expect sleep and watch out for drunken pricks trying to break into your room, steal your stuff or piss on your head. Another fun tradition is setting off the fire alarm at 3am. Biggest shithole in Europe, but then again if you are trash, this is the place for you.
@lemonlikejuiceTV , prices from 21 euros per night on low season and 33 euros per night on high season. It's not as cheap as it used to be, and the accommodation are not the best, but it's a great party hostel.
@thefarewell In all hostels I know around Europe they have limits about the time you can stay (usually between 1 and 2 months). For 150 pounds per week (180€), you can have a fairly good room in a shared flat with bills included. Although if you want something centric will need quite a lot more. Keep in mind that if you have to travel every day more than 1h you are going to hate London. Consider also the price bcause transport is quite expensive in London. Hope it helps =)

Some ppl have too high expectations. Guys its a HOSTEL, not a HOTEL. The room are simply arranged and the breakfast is simply, too.
if u dont like the breakfast? - Go to a supermarket and buy your own!
if the showers aren't clean - be friendly, and ask the staff to clean it. wear flip-flops :-)!
in my mind, its a matter of attitude. U have to make the most of it :-)
