  • This was the first (issued) recording session for Jay Whidden after leaving Columbia. Only three sides recorded of which this is the most lively. The vocalist is Phil Arnold who was quite busy in the recording studios 1928-9. He also recorded with Harry Hudson & Ray Starita as well as a making few solo records.

    Recorded April 1928.

  • @jackpaynefan The Metropole label is one of those labels that at first looks 10years later, the red U.S Harmony label is the same .

  • Whidden seams to done some very nice recordings at his few Metropole sides, sadly in one way, there is not so many on Metropole, since there is a better sound than Imperial, but good in the way that it's harder to find the Metropole label (in fact more or less, impossble where I live :( ). Thank you for sharing

  • @scala78 Your right about the label and Whidden..You can also find classicals on this label. The truth is ,the better quality labels do seem to have better quality songs. The other side and on another one i have has better quality Herman Darewski records. There is an earlier song called 'THE WIBORLY WOBALY WALK",so this seems to be an adaption for Dance Band. The last thing is , the engineering on Metropole is'nt always good like Imperial.Your welcome!
