  • @milesdavisblackmx5 In fact Kalanisi never beat Giants Causeway. The Iron Horse came out on top by a whisker again in the International at York. After that Kalanisi proved himself a great horse by winning the Champion Stakes and Breeders Cup Turf with Johnny Murtagh on board. Two great horses!

  • The interesting thing about Giant's is that only his daughters can carry the gene that is responsible for the over-sized heart, the 'secret' of his amazing battling abilities.

  • Its some testament to Aidan O'Brien's training ability that he could turn out this horse Group 1 after Group 1 after Group 1 and yet they still say they never got to the bottom of him!!! Amazing

  • So many talented European horses during this era. Unbelievable that Tiznow was able to beat Giant's Causeway in 2000, and both Sakhee and Galileo in 2001 in the Breeders Cup Classic. But that's a testament to how good the European horses were. Tiznow was America's HOY, and had raced his entire career on conventional dirt. Both Giant's Causeway and Sakhee came within inches of beating Tiznow in both of their first, and only lifetime starts on conventional dirt. Sinndar was great in that era, too.

  • Sakhee likes a battle. He found fuck all

  • @kezanator100 He was injured and never raced again that year.

  • @kezanator100

Well his pacemaker blocking him in didn't help. Having to barge his way through and a stop start race probably pissed him off.

I love Giant's Causeway though and he would have won anyway. I couldn't believe it when Tiznow beat him in the Breeder's Cup.

    I love Tiznow though LOL!

  • i think eddery thinks he has the race in the bag as soon as he edges past giants causeway in the last furlong

  • @azertyuiop32 Kalanisi is starting to hang into Giants Causeway so he has to straighten him up.You can only see it on the head on.

  • @frankschlanker

fair point. i didnt realise that.

  • God what a fighter he was!

  • Giant's Causeway all heart every time he ran and born for greatness kind of reminds me of deep impact a monster horse from japan that when ever he ran against Graded winners they all had to just contend with him alone just wait till i upload some of his races in english. Internatinal racing simply the best

  • There are several contentions for race of the decade, but Giant's Causeway provided several contenders for that accolade all on his own, even when he was beaten, like in the Breeders Cup Classic. There aren't many horses who battled like he did, but Persian Punch was one who did.

  • GIANT'S CAUSEWAY - One of the horse's of the decade. On his tombstone shall read - THOU SHALL NOT PASS !

  • Just The Toughest Horse Ever

  • that horse just didnt like being passed!

  • there was not one horse who could look him in the eye and beat hm,oh yeah..except one horse TIZNOW...lol

  • nah Mick Kinane beat the Giant that day.....

  • Why do you think Mick Kinane beat the Giant in the breeders cup?

  • just as the Giant came upside Tiznow Mick drops the reins,ah prob didnt cost him the race but he looked like he was gonna go by him , not taking anything away from Tiznow cos he was a monster

  • i understand what your saying but i dont no if you've ever ridden, but if your upsides in full flight there's nothing thats going to cause a horse to slow up even droping both reins and whip! Giants C was having his first run on dirt and the horse that beat him came out and won the breeders cup the folling year also, so your right Tisnow was a monster but i'd have loved to see a rematch on turf!!!!!!!!

  • Either Way Giants Causeway Would Of Kept Fighting If His Bridle Broke For Instance

Just Because Mick Dropped His Reins Doesn't Mean Giant Would Of Stopped

  • great race excellet field of horses causeway is the gold standard of tenacity

  • george duffield is my uncle my dads brother he is cool i help train his horses

  • Good stuff, tell him he didn't hit Peter Saville hard enough. He'll know what you are on about...

  • If Eddery hadn't put his stick down & given Kalanisi a couple more smacks when he got his nose in front, he'd have won that. Eddery thought he'd bagged it there.

  • Kalanisi is hanging into Giants Causeway so he has to correct him and straighten him up.Great Race though.

  • i totally agree with arazi12. what a season 2000 was, we were spoilt with top class horses all season, the pick of them being giants causeway. WHAT A WARROIR!!!!

  • are hes too good

  • as soon as the horse that passed giants cause way past him he coulndt stand it its like he said theres know way im letting him pass me

  • Giant's Causeway is the toughest, most consistent & genuine top class racehorse that I've seen. What a treat the 2000 flat season was having the likes of Giant's Causeway, Dubai Millennium, Montjeu, Kalanisi & Sinndar around.

  • All of them great horses and classic races were what got me into horse racing. You cant beat the flat for that action. It was a terrible shame that Duffield and Eddery were both suspended for overuse of the whip in this race.

  • You forgot one Arazi12!! Kings Best who murdered Giants Causeway in the Guineas by 3 1/2 lengths unfortunately for his next race in the Irish Derby was his last, pulled up lame and never raced again. He could have been the best one out them all.

  • @Arazi12 What about Kings Best who murdered The Giant by 3 lengths in the Guineas!!

  • @Arazi12 The Iron Horse :-) I went to see Giants Causway at Coolmore stud ( the people there were soo nice they let me see saddlers wells , monju ) as well as following his racing carrer he is a superstar, I was sooooooo gutted Tiznow beat him :-(
