The greatest song of ever. If only you could put on the radio and hear a DJ say - and now a number 1 hit from 1971 that was number 1 for the whole of the year.
The biggest oversight in the history of the world.
One of the great singles of that era, with one of Paul Buckmaster's best-ever string arrangements. This may have been the beginning of Kokomo, but Kokomo never did anything this good.
Kokomo were a very different band, with former Arrival keyboardist Tony O'Malley taking most of the lead vocals. I'm amazed that Frank, Paddy or Dyan have never done a solo record outside of a band situation. Tony's done quite a few solo albums, and they're terific.
You can call me old fashioned but I love hearing the sound of the record player needle hitting the vinyl on the old 45s. Thanks for that. Great song, thanks for posting.
With Decca records closing down forever, I have to wonder if these recordings will ever be released on digital format. This is great music and should be preserved respectfully.
I know I'd love to have this on a clean sounding CD or MP3, because all my vinyl of this band is over 35 years old and they've been played so often that they pop and hiss like mad. Still, at least I have the records.
I've got this superb single and "cleaned it up" on my PC.
I might download it too..., but like you say, the record has been played so often because you always return to classic music. Arrival were not "mega" but they were followed by faithful fans.
I know, I meant the original lineup. The first album was on Decca in 1970. They switched to CBS for the second album and the lineup had changed. This 45 rpm single, which I own, is on CBS.
Great song- hanks to YouTube have found these again.Bought this in France when I was 17 - amazing today!

I have rarely seen a band as good live. They really were an amazing mix of talent.
