@brogin No it doesn't!! Beagles inner eyelids are a bit reddish/pinkish. Cherry eye is very red and protrudes from the inner corner of the eye and is very apparent. I have a beagle and was scared that my pup was developing cherry eye and my vet told me that it was just the inner eyelid. I've seen pics of beagles with cherry eye, its awful and looks nothing like this dog.
@newxchic The 'inner eyelid' you are referring to is called the nictitating membrane, and cherry eye is when this membrane becomes prolapsed and is visible. A healthy nictitating membrane is rarely visible and certainly should not look like it does on this dog.
@brogin I'm not a vet, so it's possible he has cherry eye. But when my beagle wakes up or is sleepy I can see hers once in while. After watching the video again I'm starting to think perhaps the puppy does have cherry eye. Too bad. But its common and very treatable. Good luck Ilios! Still a super sweet looking beagle^^
@newxchic The nictitating membrame is drawn across the dogs eye when it sleeping, so it's pretty common to see it while they are sleeping and the outer eyelid is open or partially open. It should draw back pretty quickly after the dog is awake, which is clearly not the case here.
Its just a tear duct. It happens all the time with beagles. These dogs are made to get down in the low brush and holes and pull out all sorts of varmints. From rabbits to coons. The tear duct does that as a form of protection for the eye, when it gets scrapped.

Dog's have three eyelids. Two where we have ours, and a third in the corner of their eye (near their tearduct). The third eyelid can flip and this is called "cherry eye". It's very common in beagles and cocker spaniels. Two of my beagles had it. The vet essentially has to sew them back into place to prevent them from reflipping.
yeah. they had to wear a cone around their head or else they would have kept pawing at their eyes. :P the procedure isn't painful though. they came home the same day.
they can live with the cherry eye. it just causes a leaky eye and well...it doesn't look nice. there are worse things that can happen. cherry eye is relatively minor.

That in the eye is nothing.
My dog have that a lot of times i just put some water in the eye and in the next day the dog is normal.
