@caveman123ization It's never too late. A really cool magazine you can get is called "Wireless." It has anything and everything you ever want if you love nostalgia. I think they even have past shows on CD that you can purchase.
I wonder if Garrison ever saw the sign on that house after Hurricane Katrina warning off any passing robbers. " I`ve got a dog a claw hammer and my wife`s ugly. " (Short version )
StatuesBleedingGreen - you must've grown up in LA. If you were midwestern, or if you had the slightest appreciation for American poetry or literature you would understand Keillor. Let me guess: you also hate reading Mark Twain, right? Or perhaps you just hate reading in general?

@StatuesBleedingGreen I know, I can't quite stomach this dude. You'd think he was ninety years old, but he's only sixty-nine. He's always sounded like an old creepy man. I think he and Stephen King are related, or should be anyway. There are two things on NPR on Saturday on NPR that cause the radio dial in my home to move--this guy and Car Talk. Those brothers need to get a hotel. Well at least these people are all self-entertaining. Does anybody actually find GK funny? Lutherans I guess.
I love this show. Just got done listening. Been a follower for almost 20 years now. Garrison's voice is soothing. After a long week, to hear the show at 6 pm Saturday night is something I look forward to. Lifetime Achievement Award to Garrison, please.
Have to say as a Brit I discovered this chap a few years ago and I'm in awe of his utter ability to utilise and craft with words a picture of urban America with no small measure of skill and wit. His dry and laconic delivery is very similar to the humour found in the North of England. You have a literary treasure in this man. Steinbeck with a sunny disposition......
I wonder if someone named Cartoon Muhammed can ever get a grip on the humor of the West. They obviously are Armenian or Bullwhacky or something of that nature. Please let's all pray that this person goes back to their country of origin and no longer troubles the rest of us with their crapulous views

God, this show bites the big one so hard. Lame puns, unfunny jokes, sleep-inducing skits. It's just horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE! Michael Feldman's show kicks Garrison's ugly old ASS! Please make this piece of crap go away. It RUINS every single weekend on NPR.
Love this guy and his wonderful cast. I have many of his CD's and quite a few cassette tapes still . . . . fall asleep listening to him everynight for quite a few years. Love the stories and dream I live in Lake Wobegon, growing tomatoes . . .LOL!
It's funny how you can hear a voice, and envision what a person looks like, and that person looks nothing like your thought. I crack up every Sunday to this guy.
Now that February is almost here and winter is hitting us at its worst in Upstate New York, listening to this monologue puts a big smile on my face. BIG SMILE.
He may be an American treasure, but he is certainly World heritage material too. He is loved in the UK. A master of the English language, with one of the two or three greatest microphone voices ever.
All his books are great;, but there's something about WLT A Radio Romance that makes me choke laughing, especially when he talks about one of the recording studios, where everybody was, uh, flatulent, so it was nicknamed "The Gas Chamber".
The Prairie Home Companion is re-broadcast by the BBC on one of the their digital radio stations (Radio 7). Now, not everybody knows about it here in UK, but the cognoscenti are just as delighted to visit Lake Woebegon as the colonists who got there first.
I saw "A Prairie Home Companion" Live last night in Salem, VA. I've been listening to the show since I was 15 and at age 30 I am still absolutely in love with this program. I also made another life-long fan in my girlfriend who had never heard the show before. GK is an absolute genius.

you suck you anoka mn butthead!!!!!! your gonna be telling those silly lac woabegun stories until the very day you die like fellow minnesota charlie schultz or schulz
the drawer of that terrible peanuts cartoon with that loser charlie brown
what makes it funny for me is how I can relate to the stories. I grew up in a small midwest town, attended a Swedish Lutheran chuch where coffeee is the drink of choice, and talk around issues instead of just answering...as do the characters in the stories. I can't imagine how others[non mid-westerners] think when they hear these stories.. it is quite a real past for me.. hahahha
I live in England and I only discovered GK about two years back thanks to BBC7. (actually called the Garrison Keillor show here, and pared back to 1 hour)
I adore him so much. His gentle humour and warm soul comes through so easily in his story telling. Not to mention the fantastic music acts he gets on there. We need more people like him.
His voice and stories are so beautiful and comforting. I remember a nearly impossible time of my life, just listening to him on cassette tape and just crying. Something so real and honest and comforting about him........
Garrison Keller along with his radio show and many books is a legendary story teller partly because of his how unique he does it kind of like a pulp-fiction syle four seperate stories at first seem that they have nothing in common except for the fact that all situations, events and people take place in Lake Wobegon but at the last minute seem to be connected at the end.
What's the name of the piano player? You can't really see him until minute 11 or so, but he looks so familiar. And older too. His hair used to be brown. :(
@Labyrinth103106 Garrison said he was told he had a face for radio. I love to listen to his stories too, and also listen on both days (Listening right now! :o ) ). Perhaps a Lifetime achievement Award is in order. Or has he already received one?
I used to listen to this show at 2 in the morning on Mondays when I lived at home, they are good at giving a color full picture of everything over the radio.
