  • A joy, a treasure and and ever lasting pleasure to listen at.

  • I LOVE him, I shut my eyes, and can see everything he says...

  • I wish I had discovered this show sooner.

  • @caveman123ization It's never too late. A really cool magazine you can get is called "Wireless." It has anything and everything you ever want if you love nostalgia. I think they even have past shows on CD that you can purchase.

  • I wonder if Garrison ever saw the sign on that house after Hurricane Katrina warning off any passing robbers. " I`ve got a dog a claw hammer and my wife`s ugly. " (Short version )

  • When (if ) I get to Heaven I want these stories being told non stop. Be a good boy Garrison. Don`t let me down.

  • Guy that did the sound effects passed away this week. RIP.

  • @stansell1 Tom Keith

  • This is a wonderful sleep aid.

I love Garrison Keillor and A Prairie Home Companion, and I always will.

  • StatuesBleedingGreen - you must've grown up in LA. If you were midwestern, or if you had the slightest appreciation for American poetry or literature you would understand Keillor. Let me guess: you also hate reading Mark Twain, right? Or perhaps you just hate reading in general?

  • Whenever this guy's show comes on I turn the channel. His stories sound like he's BS-ing a crowd.

  • @srkane48

    man.i hear ya...

    gk=W.A.C.K.=all bland, all the time.

  • thumbs up if you already heard PHC today

  • @ucantreallygowrong air ya tooky? yah shure!

  • @ucantreallygrowuphahahaha!!!!!

what a dumb, dumb, DUMB! norsky

  • I love this show. Just got done listening. Been a follower for almost 20 years now. Garrison's voice is soothing. After a long week, to hear the show at 6 pm Saturday night is something I look forward to. Lifetime Achievement Award to Garrison, please.

  • Have to say as a Brit I discovered this chap a few years ago and I'm in awe of his utter ability to utilise and craft with words a picture of urban America with no small measure of skill and wit. His dry and laconic delivery is very similar to the humour found in the North of England. You have a literary treasure in this man. Steinbeck with a sunny disposition......

  • I wonder if someone named Cartoon Muhammed can ever get a grip on the humor of the West. They obviously are Armenian or Bullwhacky or something of that nature. Please let's all pray that this person goes back to their country of origin and no longer troubles the rest of us with their crapulous views

  • @minimumwagemcdonaldsjiveturkey hey, you stupid asshole you funny but your retarded wretched stupid poop texas nobody dumbass face beat you to it loser!!!!!

  • @dockclerk1 jive turky temstuh you turds is whats wrong with America if there were no mafia labor union creeps like yourself America would be much much better off!

    screw the unions!!!!!!!

  • This is the last piece of Americana left, God bless Garrison Keillor.

  • Love this guy and his wonderful cast. I have many of his CD's and quite a few cassette tapes still . . . . fall asleep listening to him everynight for quite a few years. Love the stories and dream I live in Lake Wobegon, growing tomatoes . . .LOL!

  • @gypsylor I'm right there with ya. Howdy neighbor. :o )

  • Stewart McLean and Garrison Keillor have much in common.

  • I have come to US 2 years ago and this OBSESSION withGK'S VOICE HAS STARTED!!!!I LOVE THE PROGRAM!

  • the only voice i can think of that i like as much as Garrison Keillor is Jimi Hendrix's

  • For the longest time, I thought he was one of those bible freaks.

  • It's funny how you can hear a voice, and envision what a person looks like, and that person looks nothing like your thought. I crack up every Sunday to this guy.

  • Now that February is almost here and winter is hitting us at its worst in Upstate New York, listening to this monologue puts a big smile on my face. BIG SMILE.

  • He may be an American treasure, but he is certainly World heritage material too. He is loved in the UK. A master of the English language, with one of the two or three greatest microphone voices ever.

  • People from Minnesota don't find the humor or irony in PHC, because they suspect Keillor may be making fun of them.

  • @Recumbentz People from Minnesota also love PHC, people from Minnesota have all kinds of opinions.

  • I heard him growing up as a kid, his voice brings me back to my youth.

  • All his books are great;, but there's something about WLT A Radio Romance that makes me choke laughing, especially when he talks about one of the recording studios, where everybody was, uh, flatulent, so it was nicknamed "The Gas Chamber".

  • where in the hell does he come up with this stuff?????

  • the shoes......

  • The Prairie Home Companion is re-broadcast by the BBC on one of the their digital radio stations (Radio 7). Now, not everybody knows about it here in UK, but the cognoscenti are just as delighted to visit Lake Woebegon as the colonists who got there first.

  • Long live Lake Wobegon

  • Such a wonderfully calming program. I look forward to listening whenever I can.

  • Did not know that guy on the radio was Dwight from the Office.

  • I saw "A Prairie Home Companion" Live last night in Salem, VA. I've been listening to the show since I was 15 and at age 30 I am still absolutely in love with this program. I also made another life-long fan in my girlfriend who had never heard the show before. GK is an absolute genius.

  • yes I agree with u He´s an American treasure, I like him very much

  • Are any of his stories posted online...at least those from books? I'd like to read them to nursing home residents, where I work.

  • This is my lovely escape from reality. Thank you<3

  • @IWantLandingSnow

the same for me, I like GK, He´s one of the gratest

  • what makes it funny for me is how I can relate to the stories. I grew up in a small midwest town, attended a Swedish Lutheran chuch where coffeee is the drink of choice, and talk around issues instead of just answering...as do the characters in the stories. I can't imagine how others[non mid-westerners] think when they hear these stories.. it is quite a real past for me.. hahahha

  • This is the best kind of story telling ever...

  • I love this kind of comedy, such a great way to pass the time driving

  • This may be one of the only videos on youtube that does not contain snarky religious or political arguments in the comment section.

  • Tells a good story. Never needs notes. Probably the right sort.

  • I live in England and I only discovered GK about two years back thanks to BBC7. (actually called the Garrison Keillor show here, and pared back to 1 hour)

I adore him so much. His gentle humour and warm soul comes through so easily in his story telling. Not to mention the fantastic music acts he gets on there. We need more people like him.

  • I love the picture he paints with his voice! I just sit back with a cold brew, close my eyes and next thing ya know I'm in lake Wobegon

  • His voice and stories are so beautiful and comforting. I remember a nearly impossible time of my life, just listening to him on cassette tape and just crying. Something so real and honest and comforting about him........

  • i could listen to this guy read a phonebook

  • One of Americas BEST radio personalities by far ! So much talent... AND an amazing voice.Garrison is a true treasure of modern entertainment.

  • The original "Hello Love" theme song became 'our song' for my late husband and me. We sang it to each other long after they were not using it.

    I love that show!

  • Thanks for sharing, bet you have some nice memories. You just added a little sweetness to my night.

  • great writer. he is pretty much great at everything he does

  • Garrison Keller along with his radio show and many books is a legendary story teller partly because of his how unique he does it kind of like a pulp-fiction syle four seperate stories at first seem that they have nothing in common except for the fact that all situations, events and people take place in Lake Wobegon but at the last minute seem to be connected at the end.

  • What's the name of the piano player? You can't really see him until minute 11 or so, but he looks so familiar. And older too. His hair used to be brown. :(

  • Rich Dworsky (of the Guy's All-Star Shoe Band)

  • The greatest American story teller. Keeper fo the flame. Bravo

  • He is an American treasure

  • @freedok

    ditto

  • I listen to this every saturday and sunday, there is no voice i love more than GK's.

  • @Labyrinth103106 Garrison said he was told he had a face for radio. I love to listen to his stories too, and also listen on both days (Listening right now! :o ) ). Perhaps a Lifetime achievement Award is in order. Or has he already received one?

  • I'm English and i adore this show ^^

  • Love the man

  • G.K. is a genius. :)

  • I used to listen to this show at 2 in the morning on Mondays when I lived at home, they are good at giving a color full picture of everything over the radio.

  • always love to hear him on the radio. just sends me back to when i was younger. LOL

  • this is a very creative show. one day i'm gonna see it live.

  • They are trying to make three counties in minnesota( in one of which I live) become lake wobegon because this area is a lot like what he talks about.

  • heck, I thought there is really a town called lake wobegon, when I first heard PHC on NPR

  • I love to escape to Lake Wobegon,

After a hard day in the Big City. Im reminded that there are parts of American

Where life is still simple and patriotic.

  • P,H.C. is so down home american.

After a long day driving in the Big City,

I love escaping to Lake Wobegon

  • He tells a good story. I use his CD at home to help me sleep at times. This is meant to be a compliment. Something about his voice that is soothing.

  • Yeah I know what you mean.

  • Been a Prairie Home Companion for years now. I'm so happy to find them on YouTube!

  • Your ignorance clearly precedes you.

  • clearly someone made sure it didn't.

  • I'm neither Christian, Yank, or Conservative. I believe Christ may have existed, but, if he did, he was nothing but a pycho stoner. However, he spoke more sense than all religions b4, which is why he created his own religion. (Or his father's revised religion, whichever way u want to look). Anyhows, Mr GK just makes everyone feel good. I'm an athiest and he still kicks ass.

  • Well, if that religon jesus made was fake, and jesus wasn't God, then why did he die for a lie?

  • he might have died for a lie, but it was on a greater scale than the white lies people say. he died, (if he existed) for the idea and hope it gave people. the truth can hurt people more than the lie given.

  • Well, the show is not about religion. I am a 100 percent atheist and I like the show. You can just see people's believes as their tradition and it will gradually fade away once people get more educated.

  • I really only tune in to hear Garrison tell his Lake Wobegon stories. Is that bad?

  • Honestly, I listen to it for that very reason and have for the last 30 years. I always tuned into the show right around 20 minutes into the second hour of the show just so I can catch TNFLW.

  • I just started listening to ..Prairie Home.. on npr on sundays.

So funny...I love that song Identity Theft!!!

  • i remember listening to this when i was a kid back in the 90s, i forgot how funny this was, your god bless youtube

  • I've been listening to his stories for almost 30 years and he never ceases to amaze me at it.

  • This is great.. look forward to the radio program every week.. great to see it on youtube. Saw GK in Williamsport, PA and it's amazing how he spins these tails.. I hope some day to catch PHC live in New York at Town Hall....

  • excellent! you guys should post more of these! I love the podcasts but it's nice to see him actually do it.
