  • OMG!! is anything not American??? I'm looking for Worcester in the uk!!

  • @libbyozza Ha me too.

  • good stuff man. i lived in worcester for 15 years and moving to new mexico was the hardest thing ive ever done. thank you for making this video and helping me remember it all. but you should have filmed more of tatnuck, airport road, pleasant market, and park ave

  • I live in Worcester, Ma! It is so weird to see all of these places on YouTube! I was actually on Shrewsbury Street earlier today! I love Worcester<3

  • @ohheydarciemae1121 It's got soul.

  • @MichaelSirois Anyone related to Worcester (including me) can say that this video is quite amazing.

  • think you may be in heaven, you engage in discourse with a native floridian, and your day dream is quickly shattered, like an icicle dropping off a 3 decker's precipice. the colonial style homes which seem to stare at you through the dreary, gloomy, desperately, bare branches of elm trees.i miss inching my cheek to the cold window of a three decker, only to see pure white and nothing else.that small town feeling which appears at every inch of the city to pound at your unsuspecting shoulders.go sox!

  • i find it in bad taste when people bad mouth worcester, with that being said; worcester is quite shitty. i never imagined i would be saying this but i do miss it... some parts anyway.coney island..(pardon me while i salivate)is it still there by the way?its been a while since i visited. the papa ginos in front of quinsig, there's no good pizza in south florida, or chinese food for that matter.sure, i'm surrounded by palm tree's,ridiculously gorgeous women, and constant sunshine but just when you

  • @mellomex85 Coney Island is still around ( oh thank goodness).

  • @TehPielightZone yeah i know, i just returned from worcester a few weeks ago. the first thing i did was stop in at coney's for a few dogs ( 6 to be exact haha ). i'm not sure which i like better a dog at coney's or fish and chips from price chopper.... but why choose am i right haha

  • Really good job went well together it actually made me proud of the city I was born and raised in. Don't waste the talent move forward.

  • I spent a significant part of this video scratching my head in comedic fashion. Took a hideously long time to figure out that this was Worcester MA, not Worcester UK... I'm blonde. Brilliant video, but my hometown is prettier, especially the medieval parts (and I'm a Cathedral Chorister, so I spend most of my time in the most beautiful building in the city). I may or may not be incredibly biased.

  • @SingDecani ^_^ Your comment made me laugh, in a good way. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it, though I'd probably agree with you that the U.K. Worcester is prettier... but that's not the point of the video, pretty is a form of beauty but trash can be beautiful in a certain sense. I think my city of Worcester has a beauty that's not necessarily pretty but peacefully real and full of heart. Anyway, you're not the first to find my video in search of the U.K. Worcester, so don't worry.

  • @MichaelSirois Nahh, I was mostly joking. People from 'round these 'ere parts would just never have the balls to do something like this: to broadcast the less prettier sides of our city (there are many). It's a brilliant video, I know I'm very biased. But my school is twinned with Worcester Academy and we've heard all sorts of stories about Worcester, Massachusetts that really make me hope that I shall one day be able to visit myself. People are what make a city great, not just the architecture.

  • I've been trying to get our city back to the El Morocco days of good food and home stages, maybe get a "DUCK" Boat or eating barge out in water of Quinsig...possibly we could give out free soccer balls at parks in bomb proof lockers. st...

  • nice video, though you could have represented the downtown a bit more. Some of the artwork along main south is sweet for video. Are you available for a project mike?

  • @robgebby Thanks, Rob. I shot this in one day so my spacial advances were limited. I'm possibly available for a project. What did you have in mind?

  • Worse, worser, Worcester. Glad I only have to go back to visit family once and a while. Still the three decker mill town of John Steinbecks description.

  • I really hate how people say worcester is crappy. It's actually not. Worcester FTW <3

  • DOPE!!!!!

  • really dope!!!

  • wormtow is a shitehole...its where i met heroin, and fucked around on main south and piedmont street looking for a fix...

  • nice job, all three of my sons were born at St V's...haven't been there in yeatrs but I do miss the old city.

  • i like wat i hear,got nice beats u should checkem out

  • @MrRELLIEONRED jenova7.bandcamp.com

  • Very Nice,,,perfect color and sound track... just great

  • @moorewalshman Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • This is beautiful! Very different to our Worcester in the UK but they're both beautiful cities :)

  • @HomeGrownStories Indeed. :]

  • This is cool, the beat fits the visuals perfectly.

  • @daddystronglegs Thank you. :) I made all of the music in this specifically for the film so that the tone of the music would mesh with the visual aesthetic.

  • what state is this?

  • @alexowns215 MA, Massachusetts.

  • beautiful video, beautiful city...

  • nice video, but bad typo - unfortunately

  • @UnknownFamiliar Typo?

  • Wow man, this has such a great nostalgic feel to it, I love it. And the choice of music, primo...

    What's next on your plate?

  • @tony13wash Thank you. :) I attend college out there. Next on my plate is a zombie film, lol. It's not a Nazi zombie film like your intriguing film is, but it's about a college student trapped in his dorm room during a zombie apocalypse. :D

  • i searched for the video that won the competion, thinking "this guy made a good video but he cant think that the video that won is rubbish, it's just too arrogant from him" but then i saw the video that won: man that's terrible!!! how can something like that win anything?!! it is so 80's! it's as if it was made by a 12 y/o boy!! u'r video is very fresh, good job man! i'm a young film maker and i'm preparing a short movie for a similar competition here in italy. i wish u good luck for the future

  • @kenankenan90 I appreciate your comment. :) I also wrote that when I was pretty sad about the contest. I felt good about my work that I submitted but really hurt was to see that particular video win. The contest was plagued from the start by numerous problems with contestants and YouTube.Anyway, it's over now and I just finished shooting my next film--a zombie film. Thanks for the luck and I wish you the same s well. :)

  • Thanks to everyone who helped me along the way. I put a lot of effort into my film from the start, but due to strange changes in rules, etc., I didn't win. Instead, a team that originally entered a lesser quality video into the competition and then resubmitted after the rule change won. Integrity sells for so little in today's world. I appreciate all of you who have helped me so far. I'm glad that many of you enjoyed my work.

  • you should have added turtle boy as well lol it would have made it funny. i applaud you making worcester look nice... (:

  • took for ever to never load up youtube must be bizzy. I'll try again.

  • @RecksRead This video just became a YouTube partner video (hence the ads) so perhaps you tried to watch it when YouTube was upgrading my film. It should be fine now. :)

  • looked at all the others and this is one of my favorites, great edit!! man, some of the others seem to be a joke like "wootube 2010", it's such a hodge podge and he thinks wachusett mtn is in worcester and it's not!! anyway, you kept it real and you made worcester look like a nice place to raise a family and people who don't live in worcester wouldn't realize that...everybody who lives in new england knows about all the colleges in worcester so i like how you tell them what they don't know!!

  • Dope video of a dope city.

  • Great video! Shows many areas of the city, that everyone knows so well. I think the essence of Worcester has been well captured and it will induce tremendous feelings of sentimentality in anyone that's ever lived here.

  • Love my city. Love this video. Nicely done. :)

  • This is by far the best of the videos entered into the contest. Nicely done!

  • @claudiasnell -- I agree. As a native of Millbury living in Memphis, I think this vid captures the heart of the Worm!

  • nice vid and editing, good luck in the contest.

  • i have viewed all the videos and if the winner wasn't based on views alone then i bet THIS video would WIN!! sure, some of the others are fun and have peppy music, or showed a lot of different points of interest but here you have taken an overcast day and turned it into a work of art, composed your own music and touched hearts!! this is the kind of film that wins in a film festival or even in a main stream awards show.....this is what it takes to win the biggies!! congrats on a job well done!!

  • Nice job.

  • im one of johns friends and im glad to hear that the contest will be based on judging and not most hits...you should win now...i really love ur style of editing,,,nice work

  • Way better than the one in first place, for sure. Your shots aren't shaky and really like the slow to fast movements. Hope you win!

  • Nice work, NS

  • this video is sick... hope you win the contest

  • if i could rate a 6 out of 5 i would, its all TRUE

  • amazing

  • Good stuff right here Mike, I love how you captured the better parts of my city because we do get a bad rap from a lot of the Clarkies

  • sick Mike. My experiences in Worc have been good thus far, but I know the city gets a terrible rap. I've made fun of it a good deal, but this vid, espec the music, puts things into perspective. I have loved visiting WSC and the Palladium, though I'd like to see more of the city instead of spending most of my time on a college campus. Campuses are so insular that it is sometimes surprising to know that there is a bustling city around you waiting to be cracked open to expose the good and the bad.

  • this is really good!

  • come on homies, hit this, share it, put it on your playlist, make it one of your favorites!! mike got me and my lil bro johnhy sponsored by ELAN, (best skis to ride) w/the promo vid he made for us so please, let's get em the HITS...

  • sweet stuff. hope you win. really like the music

  • Please stop having arguments on this comment page. I'd rather people not argue here and instead provide constructive criticism or positive comments.

  • How can someone that works for U-tube enter in a contest, this person is not listed in the USA I ask the people of MA do you want this person to win a USA vid contest???? Shame on U-Tube for letting her post her vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tis beautiful. well done

  • Nicely done. I like the style of it.

  • sweet its in HD!

  • nintendofangirl, it's not your fault that the contest rules are lame......you could basically have a film that said "i luv worcester" throughout it and you could win.......the fact that you are a youtube partner seems a bit unfair though......

  • Anyways, I am by no means trying to start or carry on an argument in someone's comments. This is one of my favorite entries and I just wanted to point out some of my favorite parts. The contest is by no means over, good luck, and once again great job on the video :)

  • @NintendoFanGirl I also wish that people wouldn't argue on this comment page. I appreciate the compliment. I worked extremely hard on this film, from the motivation of the camera direction to the instrumentals I composed myself, and I'm fortunate to be third place thus far in the competition. I can only hope that more people out there may appreciate it.

  • nintendofangirl, no argument here, it actually seems like we agree on a lot of things like say this video being one of the best or you think you have an advantage, etc.....you seem like a smart girl and being just that tell me this; your friends, are a lot of them from other countries?? if so, do you really think their going to come all the way to the states just to see worcester because of your video?? let's face it, a contest like this does more for the winner then it will ever do for woo!!

  • Comment removed

  • this video here is my favorite, but if i had to pick one of the two videos ahead of this one in hits, i would pick yours nintendofangirl.....it just doesn't seem right that something w/just a bunch of text could win a video contest!!

  • Chill, but intimate. It's got soul. I like it. ^^

  • I loved the feel of it. Warm and cozy feeling contrasting the snowy background. Great!

  • ....what about the universities like 8 of them in worcester? or entertainment and the thousands of people that live here? it just kinda looks desolate and paints worcester as kinda a gloomy and empty place to live.

other wise the beats were ...alright

maybe i just dont know the theme or the story behind the contest or the video. just giving an objective opinion

  • @Kilmartin3310 I suppose it all depends on what certain people find to be beautiful. I find these images beautiful, and perhaps to others it seems gloomy or empty. I find it peaceful and tranquil. I study filmmaking here in Worcester, so this film is meant to be a look at the city from my eyes. I envision things cinematically, and so I transferred said visions through the camera.

  • @MichaelSirois

Good luck nonetheless though with your submission. I haven't seen the other competitor videos yet, but all the best.

  • @Kilmartin3310 I also wanted to stay away from focusing on the universities and the entertainment spots in Worcester. I wanted something less appreciated and more aesthetically beautiful. I suppose it's more of a montage of Worcester than an infomercial, but this must be a short film that depends on the viewer. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  • @MichaelSirois

I will say, my fav part I think was the drive by of Union Station and once square with the camera you titled it. That was good.

  • kimartin3310, have you seen the other vids?? the first place vid was strictly filmed in a car and basically no upscale editing, the vid in second is all words....this contest has nothing to do w/the substance of the work, just how many hits and at least he got one out of you before you had to bore him/us w/your blah, blah, blah....

  • @closingtime77

I haven't seen the others no. There were things I did like believe it or not about this one, just I didn't know what to expect.

That sucks about the other candidates being considered though.

  • Oh hey, be nice, my video was not filmed "strictly" in a car, there were other shots as well. I can't speak for everyone, but I can guarantee that at least most of the people who entered DID work hard on their submissions.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I really admired some of the shots you got, especially the view of the city through the chain-link fence, and of the children skating in Elm Park. That Park happens to be my favorite sketching spot. Great job with the video.

  • Haha, I wasn't planning on doing the filming from my car. Then it ended up being in the negatives, I don't like the extreme cold :x

    But thanks!

.....this was one of your comments nintendofangirl!!

  • A lot is filmed from the car, yeah, but if you actually watched the video you'd see that there are sections that aren't. And I actually do kinda agree that having a fanbase gives me a slightly unfair advantage. I asked if I should upload it to a different channel. But since the contest is based on having the most people see it (because the concept is to spread the word of worcester around) I guess it's better for the consortium is I upload it on my partner channel.

  • MIck, I am happy u are totally USA and don't work for U-tube you project works for us in the us/Mass I feel bad that people you are out of state feel the need to profit from both working for u-tube and having out of the country friends are benfiting!

  • I am so sorry but don't u work for u-tube is this ethical????????????U really think u can comment on something U know to much about? I have gone onto to ur site and I see alot of people from out of the country commenting on your vid, how can that profit the USA. I SPY@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

  • love the beat man....please make us a music video!!

  • Great Job unreal I have had my 5 friends watch it, captures the true meaning of Worcester!

  • well done:)

  • gee, whatever happened to all that additional filming you were gonna do?? i guess you should thank me after all.....good job!!

  • Wonderful work. Pleasant and already familiar music.

  • well done, hope you win!!
