thank you for your e-mail. i was surprised that isle of capri was an pld song. it was popular here in the usa in the 1950's. are there records on youtube of the voice singing in english on youtube?. ROGHARM
found a new singer. never heard of him. he is great!!!!!!********orchestration is in the minor key which operatic. great tango. love this post thank you mon a me. pardon my french. great arrangement!!! this version thrilling. ROGHARM
elle me laisse perplexe.
You are right there. Quebcois who are of French descent don't like other Canadians. There is a perception in Canada that the English descended people have rather had it their own way for so many years, & the Quebecois have suffered through that.
Pas vrai. Not true. There's always a few malcontents. When I go to Quebec I receive nothing but kindness, J'aime la Belle Province comme l'Ontario.
Corse was italian before it was french..look at all the italian names of the towns..the last names of people..the corsican language is italian..their blood is italian..so that makes them italian under the french flag..the french stole corsica from italy..savoy(savoia) was also italian..nice(nizza) mentone all italian towns
My question is: Did Tino Rossi love Italy or France or both? Where did his preference lie? One other question: Who did his band arrangements, orchestrations? Anybody know?
Thanks for answering as best you can. Obviously, I need to read some more on Mr Rossi. He is very interesting. Did I hear someone say he might be Canadian?
As he was born on Corica, I'd expect he thought of himself as Corsican first, & French second. He was named a Commander of the Legion of Honour Blackman (did I read that right?) by President Mitterand in 1982.
Lovely version of this highly romantic song. It sounds so much better in French than English. I guess the French have a "way" with such matters, like they do with wine and cheese.
Even better than original version!

BOTH from what i hear in the music he made..most of his old songs were written by vincent scotto another corsican/italian frenchman

He was born in 1907 in Ajaccio, Corsica (France) & was christened Constantino Rossi. He toured America & Canada, giving concerts, from 1938 to 1946.
Graham1954 4 years ago
Thank you. Did he, do you know, regard himself as French or Italian? Also, while I'm at it, any idea about the band, the arrangements, etc..?
