I've just watched your video. And it didn't convince me that Bush doesn't have to share the blame, because:
- Fannie/Freddie are only one of many reasons for the financial crisis.
- The video is a politically motivated hitjob. It only uses short clips out of context, favorable to the autors opinion.
- All clips are from a single hearing. So it only proofs that a few Republicans tried once to install regulations. It gives no info about Bush, the GOP or any other hearing.

Not saying the GOP is blameless but you have to realize that during the entire Bush administration his congress had a small (roughly 55/45) majority. The republicans lost ground in the 04 election in the congress (it was almost equal in both dem and rep) and they lied to us in 06 when they ran in a platform of ending the Iraq war. The congress lied to us about TARP and ending the war so how can we trust them and believe them when they say this stimulus bill is urgent.
The stimulus bill is another topic. But the discussion about the necessity of a stimulus bill is pretty much over. A recent Gallup poll found that 80% of all Americans think that a stimulus is "critically important" or "important".
The question which remains is: What should be put into a good and solid stimulus bill? And on this topic I think that the current version of the bill is neither good nor solid. (Too much tax cuts and too few investments)

Tommy, one thing that I think everyone misses, regarding the housing crisis, is that it is not just the lower class that is suffering, much of middle America is suffering as well...AND...a good chunk of the responsibility falls on the individuals...we cannot all blame "predatory" lenders and leave it at that.
This country has a major credit problem because many people are so fucking greedy. Most wouldn't have what they have if it were not for credit and their own personal abuse of the system.
Everyone wants to "keep up with the Jones's". As a conservative myself, I feel responsibility for my own actions. I certainly was offered ARM loans on my last home purchase, and the initial payments were dirt cheap. But the unknowns of the "A" in ARM lead me to make a wiser decision for me and my family. Also, spending within your means is RESPONSIBLE. We cannot expect others to pick up the pieces when our greed gets out of control.

Well not all of us took loans "knowing" we couldnt afford it. There was some work slow down and that can totally throw you off and put you in a hole. Nevertheless my advice to anyone out there is to navigate the Hell away from taking loans or credit cards. They can KILL your lively hood if you use them during an emergency/tough time.

This stimulus package is only designed to stimulate votes for the Democrats. Tens of billions of it will not be spent until just before the next Presidential election, isn't that strange? This and amnesty for the democrat voting illegals will be the last nail in the Republicans coffin.

I've just watched your video. And it didn't convince me that Bush doesn't have to share the blame, because:
- Fannie/Freddie are only one of many reasons for the financial crisis.
- The video is a politically motivated hitjob. It only uses short clips out of context, favorable to the autors opinion.
- All clips are from a single hearing. So it only proofs that a few Republicans tried once to install regulations. It gives no info about Bush, the GOP or any other hearing.

Not saying the GOP is blameless but you have to realize that during the entire Bush administration his congress had a small (roughly 55/45) majority. The republicans lost ground in the 04 election in the congress (it was almost equal in both dem and rep) and they lied to us in 06 when they ran in a platform of ending the Iraq war. The congress lied to us about TARP and ending the war so how can we trust them and believe them when they say this stimulus bill is urgent.

The question which remains is: What should be put into a good and solid stimulus bill? And on this topic I think that the current version of the bill is neither good nor solid. (Too much tax cuts and too few investments)

Tommy, one thing that I think everyone misses, regarding the housing crisis, is that it is not just the lower class that is suffering, much of middle America is suffering as well...AND...a good chunk of the responsibility falls on the individuals...we cannot all blame "predatory" lenders and leave it at that.
This country has a major credit problem because many people are so fucking greedy. Most wouldn't have what they have if it were not for credit and their own personal abuse of the system.

Everyone wants to "keep up with the Jones's". As a conservative myself, I feel responsibility for my own actions. I certainly was offered ARM loans on my last home purchase, and the initial payments were dirt cheap. But the unknowns of the "A" in ARM lead me to make a wiser decision for me and my family. Also, spending within your means is RESPONSIBLE. We cannot expect others to pick up the pieces when our greed gets out of control.

Jhancock is right we are all at fault here... It is not just the GOVT that made the mess here.. Credit card debt makes it hard to keep up with credit bills and the normal bills.. I filed almost 2 years ago and it happens to the best of us,, Also the rebublicans are not helping the situation at all.. I think some of it is racial.. Again we are all at failt here to a degree and we need to be more responsable with how we live our lives.. Sometimes it is good to go without . Handle the needs first.

Well not all of us took loans "knowing" we couldnt afford it. There was some work slow down and that can totally throw you off and put you in a hole. Nevertheless my advice to anyone out there is to navigate the Hell away from taking loans or credit cards. They can KILL your lively hood if you use them during an emergency/tough time.

I agree. I would only add that since the government interfered (regulated) banks into making bad loans, they then also had a responsibility to regulate Wall Street to stop the greed that they themselves enticed.
This stimulus package is only designed to stimulate votes for the Democrats. Tens of billions of it will not be spent until just before the next Presidential election, isn't that strange? This and amnesty for the democrat voting illegals will be the last nail in the Republicans coffin.

Businesses react according to their projections of profits..they are projecting they will pay more in taxes with obama at the helm of this sinking ship.
Thus they are laying off in order to compensate for their projected loss of profits, which will be going to obama's spread the wealth tax program.
