I am a drag racer, nothing near these guys, mine is a low 9 second car. I have taken every precaution I can think of to keep from injuring myself and others. But here are the facts. My little motor only puts about about 950 to 1000 hp. When something breaks it often causes a chain reaction, like the john force injury. My car is very short, if I get into trouble I'm likely to do a barrel roll at around 150 mph. One think I need to do is get a window net and maybe keep my arm in such a situation.

That's really unfortunate. I hate to see accidents like that happen. Those lug studs are designed to withstand TREMENDOUS forces and rearely break and allow the wheel to come off. Some will say, oh, the fans shoudn't be allowed to be tha close to the action. From what I can tell the distance is greater than many other tracks. when were dealing with up to 337mph1/4 3001000ft, terrible things can happen to racers and fans. But this wasn't anyones fault, it looksl ike all rules were followed.

@jaded16340 Yeah, it's extremely unfortunate and just a freak accident like those that have taken some racers from us. I was there, but on the opposite side of the track from where the tire ended up. She was looking at the bigscreen, not at the track. Didn't see it coming. I would think that lug studs have a "life" on them just like other parts. You might know being a racer. Firebird's stands seem to be about as close as many other tracks' are. Topeka's look to be far away though.
