I'm actually crossing my fingers for a killer asteroid with our names on it. Honestly, who in their right minds would want this species to be long lasting, we haven't really done anything productive since coming about. We've destroyed land and bicker back and fourth about which religion, race, or culture is better than the others, while killing each other, and the strange part is this doesn't change, at all, throughout the millennial.

Dinosaurs didn't went extinct.A Particular group of dinosaurs are still living today and humans have given them a name "Birds" .With latest findings proving that birds are dinosaurs there is a need to update our knowledge with the fact that dinosaurs survived the K-T extinction and today its still an age of dinosaurs,Maybe Partially but it is.So there is always a chance of survival of an animal group in some form.No animal group has been completely wiped out by any mass extinction.

As long as there are some fruit, tubercules, and some animals (insects, mollusks, crustaceans, fishes, rats, etc.) to eat, sufficient oxygen and an ozone layer, I don't see how our very adaptable species could die out. Being reduced to a fraction of what it is, yes, but not being eliminated. We are not physically as resistant as cockroaches, but our large brain truely compensates IMO.
