  • Something id totaly do if i could afford a book i even have my own computer

  • @lionpaw75 thepiratebay(dot)org , if you find a certain book on there which helps you most then please go out and buy it, nothing beats the smell of a book straight from the store and it helps the author out a lot!

  • Fuck, show ur fucking game!

  • @koreanpeoples It's called education. I'm sorry that it's too much for you to handle, scrub.

  • Tell Kendal to have her hair straight more often.*Whisper: She looks f-u-c-k-i-n-g-" "-h-o-t....

  • Really guys....... Make a new vid before I come to hickville and hit you all with a toy lightsaber...

  • do that and they will kill you.

  • I agree lol That's the fun part! Sorry if that sounded like I was bashin ES, I was just messin around. I love you guys :) Way to be blunt David lol

  • lol k, I knew you were joking around lol but yeah :S anyways yeah they are cool, I am annoyed with them tho, allowing Marcel to leave and being replaced by that faggot. Marcel is just as much a part of it.... His own brother.

  • Excuse me? Marcel CHOSE to leave the team. And no, he wasn't just as much a part of the project when he left. It was because 1) he quit doing his job and 2) he let his girlfriend turn him against his passion. Don't speak about things that you know nothing about. I would never have kicked him off. It was his choice.

  • well excuse me? Why didn't you try and help him, or tell him his girlfriend was putting him against you, I was just trying to help you didnt give a lot of information about what exactly happened so don't tell me anything. And huh? He wasnt a part of it when he left, um he was doing a good job until that incident happened no? Or was he always doing shit work.

  • don't freak Falco (sorry if i spelled your name incorrectly), try not to let this ignorant bastard piss you off.

  • Whoa guys, chill out. We are all fans ES... Sorry Gyro if David came to conclusions, but we as a community had no choice. You guys are celebrities now, and when something happens that we have no idea about we come to conclusions. You should be flattered. We weren't trying to offend you guys. And David, calling people "faggots" isn't very nice... You should respect the teams decision, because without their choices, we wouldn't have such a vibrant youtube programmer community.

  • the tattoo looks like a tree, cant really tell though with only those little pieces showing

  • LoL Kendall's coding too much... O.o

  • Are you guys still working on the game?

  • Hell yes.

  • Wow lol she has a huge tattoo on her back also :P

looks like a heart to me :P

  • sniff sniff, it's almost been 2 months since this was posted. can we get another video ? just to show your still alive ? nag nag nag...

  • whatever they decide to do with this, the fact that they did it is rewarding enough

  • Why does the time in my comment link to your Video? wtf?

  • You you type a time in a comment it links to that video at that time... just incase you didn't figure that out already :)

  • Wake up mate. I figured that out.

    I said why?

  • So people can see exactly what you're talking about when you say "OMG THE PARTZ AT 1:30 MADE ME LOL ALL THE WAY TO WALMART"... I have no idea what that means... but it's an example

  • So what will happen if I type 101:30 ...?

Does it take you to the 101 th minute of the video?

    haha

  • Lol, apparently nothing...

  • When the game is done are you actually going to release it as a real game. Like will I ever see it in walmart?

  • Give them a break dude!

Look at his 3rd Edjukation Video. It's 9:54 minutes long. The important part for you starts at 6:00 minutes.. Take a look, you'll understand.

  • What is your problem, I just asked if they are actually going to publish or is it a project for fun.

  • No problem. But just look at the video and you'll know straight up.

  • We are still considering both. That's not really final, and it won't be for awhile. :D

  • If you do though, you'd have to get it published for all three systems (unless there are really hardcore DC fans watching you), because if it's published for DC and PSP, everyone will just play it on PC :/

  • You don't know much about the DC or PSP homebrew scenes, do you?

  • I actually do, but I wouldn't recommend selling unlicensed games (besides for DC, because I doubt Sega gives a shit). Because, as I recall, you need CFW to run homebrew games on PSP, and I wouldn't sell something that runs on what SONY is being a bitch trying to get rid of.

    Sorry if I confused you.

  • I haven't seen many of your videos, but what sparked this project? Did your team hit a wall like mine where we had all these awesome ideas, then realized "Shit, this is gonna be a lot harder than we made it sound. Damn those English classes that enhanced our speaking and writing skills." If so, how long did it take for you to recover to full dev power, and if not, has the team ever been hit by a motivation void bomb?

  • Not really. I had been doing this for several years before I even thought of Elysian Shadows--I knew what it would require. Obviously other people have felt unmotivated. The people that have been a part of this project at any point and left (Blake, Shannon, Chris, Marcel, Cypher) couldn't have been very motivated. Other than that, no. The remainder of the team has been through hell and wants to see this project through.

  • I don't remember Blake and Chris :(

  • Chris = Bowman = Dj-Yoshi. He's actually appeared in some videos, too. I do find myself wondering what counts as the "remainder" of the team, though :).

  • Everybody who is still here kicking ass. :D

  • I am probably just an idiot but why did you compile it with gcc when its a C++ program? I can't see the params though..

  • Well, libGyro was originally going to be a strictly C library, but I have since changed my mind on the matter.

  • P.S. None of this help me with the kind of programming I do now besides the networking.

If you want to do game programming though you better study up on your math and science mostly algebra, calculus, linear algebra, geometry, trigonometry, physics, etc. (for 3d anyway (and the science is sort of optional but your games will suck more)). later.

  • Don't worry 16 is not to old at all (not even close) anyone can learn to program (to be a good programmer is different) all you have to do is work hard. It always helps to know the operating system you are devving on inside out so start there if don't. I started programming at 20 I am 24 now and I have created all kinds of cool shit. I have however messed with electronics my whole, life have some certification and technical diplomas of sorts, and know about PC/Networks/etc. extremely well.

  • Just out of curiosity... How long have you guys been programming, and did you take courses in school/college/etc...

  • Keep doing it, your videos are great!

Kendall, you rule, don't be too hard on yourself!

  • Is it late to start programming on your 16th?

  • I mean, starting to learn how to program..?

  • hell no I'm 18 and I'm just learning properly now and there are tons of people older that are just learning now. It's almost never too late to learn something.

  • I dont think it would be to late, it only takes 1-4 months to become a novice programmer then you should learn you graphics api sdl, allegro, opengl, directx or when you feel you learned enough to start learning your graphics api. I prefer allegro it is easy to learn.

  • no...

  • Notepad++ WEWT!

  • Haha! Everyone is wondering where Marcel went.

  • MarxChaotix is my other little brother, everybody.

  • cool man well i'm off teird as. please reply to my cmnts thanks.

  • makefiles make my head a Splode....

great vids :D keep up the good work!

  • Why did Marcel renounce? I guess there must be a video explaining it...

  • ...what?

  • he wants you to make a video explaining why marcel left

  • quit ~ = renounce

  • uhh in the first video it said "irreconcilable problems with Marcel's girlfriend" or something along those lines

  • what is marcel doing in the world of programming now?

  • eating chips and watching tv

  • I really like watchin these videos, all of them are funny and actually educational haha.

That sucks about what happened with Marcel tho, but I must say Marauder's level editor does look better, and Kendall is alittle more sexier then Marcel ... just sayin. lol

  • ...his girlfriend has it covered.

  • BURN!

  • More brilliant videos. Although I must say, I do kind of miss AiGD...

  • I like teh new videos!

  • Yeah the makefile is ugly. I think the psp's vram is 8mb.

It will e easy for you to pick up the sdk though, seeing as you already have the c++/c knowlegde. To setup the call-back thread is a bitch though, it's in every piece of code i've done & it defiantly is the ugliest. Also are you going to create your own lib for PSP? They have things like SDL on there but the SDL lib was never finshed/or kept up to date. You could try OSLIb.

  • Well, after your first project you normally don't have to touch the callback thread unless your program needs access to the kernel.

I have a few programs for PSP that embed images directly into the eboot...it's all in the makefile, with Imagemagick commands.

  • Brilliant, throroughly enjoyed the latest set of videos from the ES team!

That's some reshuffle, both in terms of the team and the engine, hope that works out well for you.

keep up the good work, it's very inspiring indeed :D

PS: I had to say this, but, I saw me in the news section of the video, that was a surprise! :D

  • Been watching your vids for over a year. This set was a very good change. Getting to see updates from other members of the team really worked well.

You guys have a ton of talent. I look forward to seeing what you can do. If there ever comes a day that Im using LibGyro as well as LibVorbis Im gunna feel like you own my ass, even though LibVorbis, is only related to you by name.

  • Nice, good luck with the new team.

  • Awesome Falco, and team. Big fan of your vids, can't wait for some more. And more Peter, even if he is being Peterish.

  • You got your working cut out. If you want my opinion: i see it as quite a challenge to get it fully running on the PSP.

Do you even know the SDK?

  • Learning more every day. Spec-wise it's similar to Dreamcast (which I grew up coding for). I will admit that the VRAM will be pretty tough. Dreamcast has double what PSP has to offer. =/

  • Are you using just the PSP hardware to test out the ports, or do you have a PSP emulator?

  • You obviously didn't watch part 1.

  • Probably he was referring on how you plan to debug the PSP port, afaik you can't setup breakpoints or watch memory usage while running the .elf

feel free to flame me if Im wrong

  • EvilNando, no need for flaming or knee-jerk comments. You should all talk like the rational, logical programmers that you are :P

  • YES I'm hip and trendy!

I like videos that tell me what I wanna hear.

  • You and your girl friend are like the perfect couple! I only hope one day I can find a girl like that!

  • Me too... and peter needs to be doing something.... I have a suggestion at the forums if I do reccall :)

  • The way you guys are doing your sprite rendering looks alot like what I'm doing. I'm not cross-platform as you are, but I'm working on it.

Seeing you all make progress on this is really encouraging to my efforts. I only wish I could find a team to work with. I have the coding know-how, but I have no real artistic or musical abilities. Plus, doing all the coding for a game and level editor by yourself can be very tiring. And lonely... so lonely.

  • Brilliant work! Keep it up!

  • I really enjoyed these! Hands down the most professional and highest quality of the videos so far. Great job guys!

  • Excellent set of videos guys. I'm glad you decided to continue on even though Marcel bitched out. That collision detection system is fantastic. And I can't wait to hear more of the music!!! Keep it up.

  • glad to see another video. it seems that you guys wait long enough for us to just start doubting if youll post another one, then you post them :)

  • Awesome new episodes but yes

I am very much asking myself "What the hell happened here!??"

Well looking forward to what you guys post, hopefuly you end up covering sat in the other parts as im busting a nut or two trying to implement it myself.

  • Can we get some marcel in the next videos... like eating food or something.. and flicking off the camera? That would be nice.

  • awesome vid man didn't no you were making a psp version

  • Awesome, finally :]
