  • safe at 35 mph..but speed kills at 65 mph. thats why research never stops.

  • Volvo > BMW > Mercedes Benz

Not only are Volvos known for safety and reliability, they're considerably cheaper too.

  • That must have been 3500 mph for a Volvo to get such damage.

  • ohh he did a burnout

  • A Volvo hitting a wall is equivalent to a wall hitting a wall.

  • damn! this bloody thing is a rock

  • what a waste

  • @Xquu15 Nope.... Chuck Testa

  • 0:25 Now that is million dollars and many hours worth of research .

  • watch the the engine goes down not backwards to driver .... smart.

  • I would trust my life to a Volvo, who wouldn't?

  • really diggin' the orange color and those black wheels mmm

  • Doesn't seem like the Chinese own Volvo nowadays.

  • But . . . will it blend?

  • i just love how the chasis looks when the car crashes.

  • thats Volvos new design

  • volvo is the best safty car

  • I wish we could somehow show this video to a car maker from say, 1930. I wonder what they would think?

  • Which crash test is this

  • very very good one!

  • wow, its perfect :)

  • ohhh my god :X volvo is...only volvo, the best car in the world

  • You should have given me this car instead of crashing it!

  • I love how the crash just makes a nice *pop*

  • my car what the hell did you do to my car

  • wooooooooow!! the video is very very very very very gdddd actuly i have never seen video like this showing all the damages from driver to the muffler tip :x but the car made on low crash high cost too bad 4 volvo

  • what would happen at 60 MPH then ??

  • @scepticpatriot knowing that volvos are the safest cars in the world not very much more lol

  • no airbag curtains? Or do they just deploy from side impact?

  • @braveofsavne side impact only. otherwise they are kinda unnecessary.

  • The airbags looke soft out

  • @Ekstromish better then the steer

  • the driver's neck is twisting LOL

  • 35 mph only

  • this actually looks comfortable

  • nice :)

  • Did anyone else notice that after the test, there was a liquid gushing out from the car? Its right below the black&yellow circle on a gray backgroud (i think its a sticker).

  • Good quality airbags!!

  • VOLVO FOR A LIFE!!

    VOLVO ONLY RIGHT BRAND!!!

  • Did anybody notice the steering wheel when your dace hits the airbags? It goes in so it doesn't hurt as bad... I think?

  • Windshied never even cracked. That was beautiful. Honda wont even show a 99 civic crashtest.

  • Volvos are solid, I would rather be in this than my xTerra.

  • 0:35 ten podskakujący element to czujnik temperatury

  • I love how you can see the seat belts tightening at 0:08 from the pretensioners! So cool!

  • @LoveTheCity123 wow, I didn't even notice that. that's so cool!

  • @LoveTheCity123 Mercedes benz was the first with that.

  • @BigrickNL Okay? I didn't say they weren't?

  • At 0:07 actually is a very powerful blink for camera shot :) At old times Volvo's do tests only in nights because high electrical power consumption can overload all of the town !!!

  • Volvo is known for being safe cars

  • how much stars?

  • @PiCcOlAStReGa03 i guess 5

  • volvo is cool!!!

  • That crash sound almost makes your nose bleed...

  • @residentevelnerd: It's no use, Justin Bieber would walk away unharmed from a Volvo crash.

  • why 35 mph? why not 40 mph? are these different classifications or what?

many other videos are for 40 mph for other cars (remember that kinetic energy goes with square of speed).

  • As all swedish people say: "Volvo - The world's fastest tank!"

  • Volvo. Safest car in the world!

  • pretty amazing :)

  • Cars totaled but you live

  • bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbboooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • Damn, perfect! bye-bye A4 and BMW3...

  • volvo are the safest cars in the world

  • @1337productions2 hay I might have a spelling issue but at-least I now the world around me. and don't just let others tell me what to think I do it for myself. and once you start doing that you will see that you are just a sheep... and are just like all the other sheep in the world thinking its flat because that is what your told to think. you need to take a minute and stop changing the equations to get the answer you want. that is not science. now if your so good explain witch you have not.

  • you should know if you want to prove your point you need to prove it not make fun of someone because he has a spelling issue,,, your a Child that need to learn to if your going to argue you must know your point and prove it, and changing the physics IE the weight size and speed of an accident changes the outcome.... you may get a wrecked car but NOT same.... That has been my point...if you change thing in a scientific test (wich this is suppose to be) you are no longer being scientific

  • @1337productions2 you still have not said anything that proves your point.. you bring up bad spelling to prove your point and yet you say nothing to prove your point.. your a child

  • I have proven my point many time and all that you have ever said is " no they are not" but not one have you given any examples on how you see it.. saying "no its not because i know physics" is not proof. It is a children argument or someone that dose not completely understand the argument. if you want me to consed to your thought. proof it.. (you can not) because you know that once you try i will find the issues with your points. and hols in your thought.

  • Go get 2 pizzas from different places.. both peperoni both medium. One from Domino's one from Round Table... yes they are both peperoni. yes they are both mediums.. But they are not the same they don't tastes the same. they don't look the same. And I bet you don't like one. The difference in them is what is in them and cooking. But the out come are similar (answer) but NOT and far from the same

  • and that has been my point .... you guys are bring up that the answer is the similar and I and saying the equations you are using are different. and there for are NOT same.. twins are similar but not same... looks like but only say to be same is to use the same equations...

  • @1337productions2 and your missing my point. once you change the equation to get the same results you are changing the the results.. 6=6 =12 and 4*3=12 same answer but not the same. Yes in this instance you get the same answer but even if your of by one hundredth you change the results. 6.01=6.01=12.02 and 4.01*3.01=12.0701. simplified for you.... because you change the speed, object you are impacting you change the results. I will consed that they may be-able to get similar results but same.

  • It looks like a very safe car in my opinion.

  • hay don't call people idiot because they have a different opinion than you.. the easy way to prove my point this and for you to understand what I was say about the wall... go get a bowling ball and a watermelon the same weight. now take of your shoes and drop one on each foot from shoulder high... witch one hurt more or is broken. (give you a hint) its the bowling ball that did more damage. cars have crumple zones and a wall dose not. that has been my point the hole time moron..

  • come on crashers... 35mph... true testing should be at 60 and 90.. 2 cars doing 35 head on have a closing speed of 70mph. and at freeway speeds its 120+ depending on the state of country your in and that is only if both cars are going speed limit.. and no one is speeding. that also bring an other point what about all the lifted vehicles that there bumper is not at the 6 inches that you have.. I have seen many truck Ford and others that have a bumper at 2feet... what happens then

  • doing tests into a wall is impractical and falsifying the results.. whom hits a wall in real life perfectly square.. come on... if you want to show your cars safe why don't you take a real life major accident and copy the impact. its like saying a condom will stop STD but in real life you are eating her out. dose not apply and is false.

  • @michaelsilberstein They have a closing speed of 35, more mass to distribute the force of impact. 2 cars hitting eachother at 35 mph is the same as one car hitting a solid wall at 35 mph, not 70. Also u don't take braking into consederation, people hit the break when they are about to crash.

Check up on Newtons Law and also Mythbusters tested this.

  • @Fridlyst well I have a back injury from a car accident where I had no time to brake at all.. The in-pack speed was over 70. (my last known speed) Not including there speed in reverse on the freeway in my lane. I am talking about a real life impact.. in Real life nothing is so cut and dry.. And there Truck clearing the front of my car going threw my hood hitting the engine block. I know all about newtons law..The flaw is where you say "to distribute the force of impact."

  • @Fridlyst having an in-movable object "wall" a a stand in for a car"movable object" and changing the size of the impact aria Falsifies the results. think of it this way.. A batter is up Swing at 60pmh pitches. the fist swing he bunts the ball may go 2-3yards before hitting ground.. but the second swing hi hits it fully and as hard as he can. well the ball may go 100-200yards. You should not believe everything you see on TV

  • @Fridlyst Mythbuster did not git there statements right.... one car hitting a wall at 70 in just like 2 cars hitting at 35.. What was forgotten by them and you is that all the damage is now in one car. For the visual yes it looks worse to the one car but by taking one car out "that absorbs the impact" and replacing with a Wall "dose not absorb impact" you are no-longer distributing the impact you are focusing the impact in to the renaming car.

  • @michaelsilberstein No, one car hitting a wall at 70 is exact same as two cars hitting each other at 70, did you watch this episode carefully?

  • @PS2Gameplays do you really be-leave everything you see on TV... You must be a Fox News watcher.

  • @michaelsilberstein It's a basic law of physics idiot.

  • @steveballmersucks LOL calling people names is not the way to prove your point. that is what a child would do when he is wrong Just because you don't look at the would the same as i do dose not make me and idiot.. that is called eccentric. Look at your name how are you support to be taken seriously when you have a name that you are saying someone sucks.(like a child would)

  • @michaelsilberstein I do physics. That's how I know.

  • @PS2Gameplays if you are so smart than why are you and others forgetting to take in the crumple zone of a car..Yes physics are similar. but once you start adding in more variables with the crumple zone of a car and do take it in to consideration you are no longer being scientific, your doing good TV. if you do physics you should know that yes on paper the first instance of the impact (fist millionth of a second) but once the car starts crumpling the variable's chance and there for the results

  • Volvo = safety

  • nooooo , nine , wi hiest du gern? :P :D dont do it you fuckers. can i get the crashed one?

  • i work at a garage/towing service and a brand new 2012 s60 t5 came in after hitting a 50 lb bag of mulch that fell off a landscaping truck on the highway, the lady driving it hit it head on....yes maybe tailgating...but regardless it didn't even go through the windshield which is the only place it hit on the car. I believe in any other car, the driver wouldn't have faired as well....except if it was in another volvo :p

  • Notice how the B pillars don't cave in by bending forward and trapping the occupant by blocking the door shut.

Good job Volvo. That's why I'm on my third XC 70.

  • 0:26 no gearbox???? :O

  • If you think BMW 3 is safer car, think it again. According to IIHS 2011 Report, Volvo S60 is the Top Safety Pick 2011, while BMW 3 series is not. Furthermore BMW 3 had very bad real crash record, rated as "Poor" for 2002 - 2008 models; see the details at iihs.org. All Volvo models 2004-2011 are rated as "Good". Volvo 4 Life!

  • volvo : built like tanks

    saab : built like jets

  • Very nice but body is not as rigid as on 3 series. Doors move around during crash slighly, which means that body is bending a bit. If you watch 3 series slow mo crash you will see its completely rigid, nothing moves.

So stop writing stupid comments like this 905076508 guy....and stop thumbing up such stupid comments like he writes, because he's clueless.

  • @derbigpr500 Rigidity in a crash is all about balance the stiffer the structure the more amount of energy is transmitted to the occupants.. so the injuries increase the only failure this car has is a big amount of sensors which make a experienced driver lose full control of the ride.

  • @derbigpr500 I know a great deal about the engineering in these cars, the only thing stronger on the 3 series is the door latch mechanism.

The Volvo mechanism allows the door to move around when it is pushed by the fender in the front. The body is completely rigid in this test.

Volvos are engineered to have better long-term quality. This means engine tolerances will be slightly lower, and things like door latches will be adaptive to aging issues (like sagging hinges).

    That is why they last.

  • Thats only 35mph...Christ id expect to be safe if I crashed in my car at 35mph...Whats the huge new technology about this crash test thats so amazing?

Bet if they showed one at 45mph the car would be completely destroyed...So gimmicky these new car "Revolutionary" safety features man, cut the crap.

  • Not fast enough..

  • Leave it to the swedish for perfect cars

  • Beautiful...

  • someone lost a knob thingy at 0:36 at the bottom of the screen

  • I don't get it, the sound that comes when it crashes is just not right

  • STOP BUILDING THESE UGLY DANGEROUS PIECES OF SHIT

  • @HateFuckingVolvos, TROLL ALERT!!!

  • @theguy459 derrr MORON ALERT!!!

  • @HateFuckingVolvos hmmm maybe i should change my name to "HateFuckingTrolls" ?? and post "STOP TROLLING YOU UGLY PIECE OF SHIT".. yeah i like that. Seriously dude, don't you have a life? hahaha

  • @theguy459 yeah go on do it . That would be a change from you whacking off over my posts

  • @HateFuckingVolvos Retard Alert !

  • love this car

  • 35MPH. Could you imagine 135MPH? It's a wonder people even survive at 75MPH.

  • Daaamn perfect.. :D

  • ugly ass car, good thing they crashed it

  • @Kitteh2006 WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?! THIS CAR LOOKS WONDERFUL

  • @Giants544 i have taken shits that are more appealing visually

  • the wheels should have a quick relaease so it does not keep pushing against tthe wall

  • @presby100 Dude the wheels help with the crash.

  • how fast the car is go?

  • @ito6722 not sure. i guess 65 kph or something like that...

  • @ito6722 35 mph / 56 kph

  • @whattheheck1000 tanks I saw on the driver door now ''35 mph'':)tanks anyway

  • can we volounteer justin beiber as a crash test dummy

  • @residentevilnerd or replace it with the wall.

  • @residentevilnerd NO! he would survive in a volvo, pu him in a Geely or a Mazda!

  • NO@residentevilnerd

  • @residentevilnerd not in this car... it's to safety

  • @residentevilnerd

    only not as a 35 mp/h varient...

  • @residentevilnerd

Can we volunteer Justin Bieber as the crash test barrier?

  • @aloisbembel not in a volvo...... he would survive.

  • @jcshred91 thats why he said barrier, the thing the car crashes into

  • @pdavid24 my bad, misread.

  • @aloisbembel That would be a great idea, but preferably on a Chinese car. ;)

  • @aloisbembel If we want to volunteer JB as the crash test barrier, we must use VB Commodore

  • @aloisbembel This can't kill Justin Bieber... Let just put him in the G-wizz...

  • @residentevilnerd But in a Brilliance, not in a Volvo.

  • @residentevilnerd It's a Volvo, he wouldn't be hurt. We can use him for chinese cars though.

  • @residentevilnerd he will survive volvo made safe car

  • @residentevilnerd but not in a Volvo !! Its to safe of a car....

  • Getting our S60 in Feb 2011...looking forward to playing with all the toys :-)

after test driving the d3 and the d5 ( the better drive is the d3...but the 3ltr ts will do nice :-)

  • I want this car !

  • volvo makes car crashes relaxing!!!!!!!!

  • those are some strong door mirrors....most cars they fall off

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! give it to me pleaseeee

  • These cars are only going 30 MPH. Id hate to see what the car looks like at 60 MPH

  • @homelifehome I don't think it's possible to make a car safe to hit a wall at 60 mph

  • where is the offset crash test of this car ?

  • volvo = safety

  • did it still run?

  • who no frontal offset?

  • I bet those 2 dislikes came from a faggot who still thinks vw or the other german cars are safer.

The new S60 is just amazing and still shows whos the boss in making safety cars.

  • look for Mihai Jitianu si volvo S60

    share my experience

  • See my experience with the new Volvo s60: search "kornfeld paulina betty si volv s60" on youtube

  • one word...........TANK

  • the reson it is at 35mph is because you could prob. slow down and make the crash at around 35mph and i know volvos are very safe

  • Here's my Volvo S60 Experience. Search "Siniavschi Mihai si Volvo S60" on youtube :)

  • Exhaust Ruber mount in the end LOL...

  • that's a slow speed to crash it at, and it isn't even an offset crash

  • Perfect Safety

made in qality made in sweden

  • this was at 35 mph.

  • stop at 0:05 to see the connection

  • I love how high-quality these are compared to most of the IIHS videos on their website.

  • Amazing footage

  • NOOOO give me the car or at least the engine

  • Hats off to volvo for this perfect performance. Windshield, bodyframe, and passenger cage all intact and unscathed. I REALLY wish we had access to an NCAP test for this vehicle, much more demanding and would truly demonstrate Volvo's safety abilities/design.

  • not an ncap test so a worthless and misleading video...

  • very safe

  • Just perfect. Oh my god, they continue improving security to new levels!!

  • wheres the auto brake like they where showing in the advert

  • @bandosnoob15 That only works up to 18 mph. And I belive that they would have disengaged that for the crash test.

  • @bandosnoob15 its turned off after 28 mph

  • I would be cool if it would explode at the end.

  • VOLVO=Safest

  • I hope Volvo never sells out to China.
