Vistited Boonesbough this past summer. Although they stress how inaccurate the tv show was, I believe that Fess Parker gave a great performance as Daniel Boone and he left a great legacy. Although the real Boone might have been somewhat different,I always had and will have a good feeling about Boone because of Fess Parker. And He had a nice country voice too.
Living in the rural South growing up in the 60's we could only pick up two channels, the broadcast TV channel network NBC (no satellite or cable!!) which carried the show "Daniel Boone", and Public TV (taxpayer funded educational TV) Heard this opening to the show many times. (Actually the show opening had someone else singing but same song) Thanks for posting.
RIP Fess Parker, best known for his 1950s portrayals of Davy Crockett for Walt Disney and his late 1960s portrayals of Daniel Boone. Thanks a lot DukeFan!
Correction, I was thinking of Davy Crockett (both played by Fess Parker of course).

My 20 something son and I watched this movie on DVD last summer, didn't know if
he would like it after seeing mostly high tech kind of movies over the years but he thought it
was cool.

My best friend's dad would sing this every time he saw me when I was little. He was biggest, nicest man I ever met. R.I.P. John
