the academy team looks awesome, Brett Lee, Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds, Michael Kasprowicz, Dave Hussey, Stuart Law, Michael Slater, Paul Wilson
@robelinda2 Are you australian? It's really nice to see an Australian cricket fan. One gets the feeling that the only place where cricket is loved is the subcontinent. But it's really nice to see Aussie cricket lover. More power to you friend!!
@robelinda2 Oh wow! That's a breath of fresh air! I'm an Indian cricket fan and it's not really a lot of fun when the only people watching the India-Australia test series are other Indians. But go easy on us guys. We have a young team in unfamiliar conditions. A few short and wide slower balls would be appreciated. :)
@frozenkida Hah dude our team is a piece of shit, just about the worst aussie side i can remember, I cant believe your mighty Indian team isnt beating the living shit out of us.
@robelinda2 A rooster crows over its own shit pile dude. And an Indian rooster quite exclusively so. I'm waiting for the day when our so called 'quicks' start bowling at the blistering pace of 125kph. It has happened before. It will happen again. All Clarke has to do is pitch the ball full on off stump. The wickets will take themselves.
@frozenkida Hah battle of the most pessimistic fans!!!! really both teams are quite ordinary, but there's no doubt the Indians have the batting class, they just so rarely show it outside India. They have been the worlds best batting side for over a decade, but almost never fire together, and not often overseas when its needed.
@robelinda2 haha!!by the way, do you know the inside scoop on Mitchell Johnson? they're saying he probably won't play another Test for Australia. I hope Big Mitch doesn't retire. We've fooled the world into believing we have great batsmen because pitches back home are depressing nightmares which eat bowlers for breakfast. If only you knew the number of talented fast bowlers we've blunted Even the great McGrath had a hard time in India. We're actually quite ordinary batsmen albeit with big cars.
@robelinda2 How can a batting side be considered the best when they "so rarely show it outside India...almost never fire together, and not often overseas when its needed"?
see the names of the players not in the australian team then, the academy team was world class, brett lee ponting symonds kaspawitch, shane lee gillchrist, world of gave any team a run for there money, but now we are number 4 in the world, these two teams could of been 1 and 2 in the world then
Wow, the difference in his action is amazing. also interesting to see the likes of Ponting, Kasper, Gilchrist, Slater and Lee playing together - but not for Australia.
hey Bob, where your channel has suddenly disapperaed. thats very unfortunate coz i am a die hard fan of vintage matches too. plz let me know if you have transfered somewhere else.
wat the hell!! if i didnt see lees face i wouldnt believe this is him hahaha wow he changed so much in 2 yrs.. he made his debut in 1999 and thats where he had his beautiful fluid action !
Hey guys, I am looking for some info, can you help me? Which was Brett Lee's first match after he remodeled his action? If you see his 5 wicket in 2003 world cup and compare to his 5 wicket against England 2009, you can see he has changed his action [after some ankle surgery] and I wanted to find a video of his first match after that.
@hoever06 It was an anniversary match, so some of the best players the academy produced were invited to play for them, it wasnt supposed to be a side of the up and coming guys at the academy at that exact time.
Just looking at the Academy side (Ponting, B. Lee, Kasprowicz, Blewett, Gilchrist, Symonds etc.) you can figure out why Australia dominated over a decade and half in world cricket. Amazing depth in talent.
one thing to note - check out how many future international players were playing in the academy XI...the depth in domestic cricket in the late 90s must have been something ridiculous for australia to effectively have 2 international sides playing against each other!
5:27 - It's hard to imagine that was Brett Lee's old bowling action but the more you see of it the more you can see the early inroads & tweeks in which would add to his best & final bowling action, the one we are more famillar with.
@say2chander Yeah he had a few stress fractures in his teenage years, his action constantly evolved until he found a good balance. The next season he looked closer to what everyone knows his action looks like, and by the start of 1999 it was pretty settled, and thats how people saw him when he debuted for Australia.

Who is the Marsh that played for AA here?
stonecoldstavros 2 months ago
@stonecoldstavros It was Rodney son. Forget his name, he bowled legspin
twony75 2 months ago
@superwestigers Actually Australia is still no.1 in ODIs, it's the test rankings that we are ranked 4th in but I suspect that may change soon.

This was the time when Australia had two world class teams, this match proved it.

This must of been before his stress fractures going by his action. It actually looks a lot like Shane Bond's action who also had stress fractures.

You can see why Lee had to change his bowling action. His top half turns side on while his hips stay front on. Back problems a-go-go.

@Doccaau Bevan got 129, the tail played well and Adam Dale smacked a four and a six to tie, great finish.
