I'm with you. Things like that only happen online. I play a lot of live poker tournaments in the casino and NEVER EVER have seen someone play like that. Just online it seems very easy to click that attractive "call" button and turn poker into a lottery. Donks are good for good players in long term aspects and if you have a lot of patience. But of course it sucks so bad if you get a beat like that one. You played it right and well and there was nothing wrong about your play.

@thebobhannah Think about this theoretically, the guy had a gut shot to a make potentially a higher ranked hand, he had 4 outs to improve, twice, (turn & river) leaving him with 4.2 to 1 on his money as he was already pot committed. Also pre flop it wasn't bad either as he had two pair draws, 2 flush draws and a straight draw. People need to learn that aces aren't invincible and this wasn't a bad beat as the guy had decent odds to improve, it ain't like he hit a 1 outer. STANDARD CALL

At the time of the call (post flop, pre turn) "The donk" is just under 20% because he has 2 cards to come which depending on which part of the country you live in could be determined as 8 outs (4 outs x 2 cards). There are 45 remaining cards in the deck. The way you figure % is subtract the players cards in the hand minus the community card action (your cards plus his cards plus flop cards = 7 subtracted from 52). So 8/45 = 17.7%

Ive had a 99.6% hand on the flop lose when a player check raised me all in when he held AQo on a 833r flop and i held AA. The turn and river came QQ, now thats a bad beat.....

@thebobhannah Think about this theoretically, the guy had a gut shot to a make potentially a higher ranked hand, he had 4 outs to improve, twice, (turn & river) leaving him with 4.2 to 1 on his money as he was already pot committed. Also pre flop it wasn't bad either as he had two pair draws, 2 flush draws and a straight draw. People need to learn that aces aren't invincible and this wasn't a bad beat as the guy had decent odds to improve, it ain't like he hit a 1 outer. STANDARD CALL

At the time of the call (post flop, pre turn) "The donk" is just under 20% because he has 2 cards to come which depending on which part of the country you live in could be determined as 8 outs (4 outs x 2 cards). There are 45 remaining cards in the deck. The way you figure % is subtract the players cards in the hand minus the community card action (your cards plus his cards plus flop cards = 7 subtracted from 52). So 8/45 = 17.7%

Bad beats are good for poker anyway, it draws the suckers in meaning more money for the decent players to take.

Well obviously a horrible play by villain there but i hate ur all in on the flop anyways. U might argue, that u believe he had AK ( which is sooo unlikely with u holding AA ), but then the money goes in anyway. Why not let him go his bluff/stop bets to raise turn or river ( depends on the turn card and more possible draws ) and THEN push to feel him being commited so u get called by say: JJ or so? Even donks have hands from time to time and did it all to get him out, holding top set on a dry b.

Yeah the donk got lucky but thats bound to happen now and again,the other 88% of the time you'd double up through this guy.Don't complain on the rare occasion that he gets lucky,players like that make the game profitable for good players.However I don't think you played the hand well.From any other player you would have got no action with your trip aces the way you played it.

I just almost puked, that happened to me live in a casino - exactly the same and I raised like you did on flop. And the guy didn´t even notice he had a straight afterwards, the dealer had to explain it to him. You should see his face afterwards. It was so hard to not kill him straight away. He didn´t even know he had a gutshot - just called for some reason.

With all due respect I think you played the hand wrong.
Yes, he is an idiot, and yes he got extremely lucky. But you could avoid this by shoving all in before the flop. I don't think even the dumbest player is calling with 3 7 off preflop.
If you just sat down at the table, and don't know how anyone plays, reraise to 25 is a good play. But if you know the guy is a loose-calling idiot, and you want to get him off the hand, you need to raise a lot more than that.

I made a good bank during a year in the first site I begun playing online two years ago.Then I moved to a bigger one and in just 3 weeks I lost the 90% of my money in lots of strange and amazing bad beats,3 of them similar to this one.I was desperated and I went back to my first site with my last 40€ .Since then I enjoy poker again,with good and bad days,and my bank recovered totally and grew up.
