Tuning is standerd drop D. For those who don't know, drop your bass E String untill it is an octave from your third string which is a D. Standard tuning E A D G B E . Bands like Tool, Deftones etc. D A D G B E . Open is a darker middle eastern sound. You will want to bar the chords down more bypassing the A and going to the actave D. I hope This helps someone who did not know that tuning. After all music is meant to be shared, and sometimes shreded !
@Cragiesea "The tuning for the rhythms parts, low to high, is D, A, D, A, D, D the top strings tuned to the same pitch." to quote the person you see in this video.
These amps are well designed and use decent components but it is a bit of a piss take when you sick union jacks all over your amps, manuals and website when all your products are made in korea!
@NADandtheMED depends on how you will set up the volume and where you will play it, if on a bedroom, the combo. if on a bar on something, the stack. If the bar is big or you are going to play somewhere else, get a ht 20 or 40
@freiture thanks... ill probably be playin it in school events so it wont really need to be as big as ht20 or 40... i actually wanted the stack and i've been eyeing for it but i think it's pretty expensive here in the Philippines.. gotta save alot then.. thanks....
Hi! Got a question for Blackstar - volume-wise, how HT-5R compares to HT-1R? I'm talking about head versions driving 4x8 Blackstar Amp. I would be very grateful for the answer, because I'm hesitating between the two
I got an HT-5R today for Christmas and have been playing with it all day, and all I have to say is for the price, it's a tonal masterpiece! Great job Blackstar!!
Are Marshall amps a British tone ? like JCM800 , Zeppelin used them and british bands and so did Areosmith So kinda stuck :O. Wanna get a Nice plexi tone from my HT5R.
@SirMuddyPaws Yeah you're not gonna get a decent British tone anywhere without breaking the bank for a Marshall from the 80s unless you get this and maybe a few other amps (Laney etc). Unlike others, Blackstar are solid built and reliable so I'd go with them.
Picking my HT-5RH next week. I feel like a child coming towards Christmas.
@samathanwataguan Thank you!! And theese are amazing , i got a 800 tone , but i did a gig the other day and they just mic'd it up , its great for practising dont get the stack btw !
@heitorvrb the videos are filmed with several passes, with the camera locked off, and then roaming for the arty angles..lol...Yes I did miss a chord, but that was probably just one of the audio takes that wasnt used...The track WAS recorded live, the rhythm track first in the altered tuning, then the solo in standard tuning. If I missed a chord in the performance, it would have been when we were just dicking around after the main take getting different shots...sorry Jamie Humphries
Can you put the a cable from the "speaker emulated output/headphones" to a mic input of my recording device? Like i could from a line out from ss amp?
@musyeyes, yes it was recorded/filmed in 3 passes clan crunch then lead..i had to tune to standard for the solo..the idea of the demo was to film as if I was recording a session to demo the amps flexibility..@sniperkitten971, no pedals were used..thats all amp!!..@meer8, yes its meant to sound like Creed..its a Creed style track that I composed that is taken from my book/CD set Giants of Rock...Jamie Humphries
Sorry...Just to take advantage of all the views this video is getting..I have just completed a UK tour with Brian May from Queen. I used two Series One 50 Heads in stereo. Now I'm back from the tour, and as well as working at Lick Library and Performing clinics for both Musicman and Blackstar I offer guitar lessons via Skype. Please email me at my site for lesson, gigs, tours and clinic dates..Site details and email can be found on my channel page..cheers Jamie Humphries
Hi Guys Thanks so much for all of your kind comments about this track and performace. The tab and backing track are available in my book/CD package Giants Of Rock. Yes this is a Creed/Tremonti study piece. I choose it for this demo for both the cleans and crunch. The solo is not the one transcribed in the book and was me "shredding" on the day, and was improv! The tuning for the rhythms parts, low to high, is D, A, D, A, D, D the top strings tuned to the same pitch. The solo was standard Jamie H
@jhmusicman hey folks, can i play with internal and external cabinet at the same time... i mean if i plug the external 2x12 cabinet on this HT-5R, do the internal combo speaker still on? im a noob... . thanks!!
@guitarsoul91 Haha! You have eyes like a hawk ;) There is a Shure Beta57a on the front and a Rode NT1 on the back. The Rode is only added subtly to add a little bit more depth and realism to the recorded sound.
@Blackstaramps I used to have the HT40 and sold it and got a series one 50. I regret that decision! I think the HT had a better tone on the gain, definitely more metal. Now, I am looking into buying the HT 20 Head, but I want to know why there aren't any video reviews about them? Is there something wrong with them? Do they sound better than the Studio 20 combo? HELP BLACKSTAR!!!
I rewatched this over and over in the past week because it's so damn good. Jamie is such an incredible player and the tone these blackstars deliver compliments it beautifully. I'm dying to get myself a HT 5 head!
Hats off to Jamie and Blackstar for continuing to put out great stuff. It sounds like he's playing through a million dollar rig. Can't wait for these to hit the shores in the US.
@8spider8 I think you're right with it being DADADD, certainly sounds like the high D is doubled in places and seems to work with my feeble attempts at playing the intro!
I've just picked up an original HT5 in the limited edition artisan finish. I don't know if the red finish justifies the lack of extra features, but it sounds amazing nonetheless.
@Solitary0ne Whoops...My bad. I was viewing this on my phone and neglected to read the description. Anyway cool lil' amp and thanks for pointing that out!
WOW this just blew me away! I was researching an amp to bring to college with me (instead of my monster Marshall) and I think I have found it! The dirty tone in the beginning is awesome, but when the overdrive kicked in I was truly impressed. It reminds me of Opeth mixed with Mastodon rhythm tone- just the way I like it. And I remember seeing this same guy do lessons on a Zakk Wylde guitar video too! Thank you Blackstar
When will it be available in the U.S.A. and what will be the street price in US Dollars . YES , I'm very interested . Been waiting for a low volume tube amp (I play at home and very small gigs for old people) with these features for a long time . It will be my first tube amp . Thanks BLACKSTAR ! ------------ Jerry , AKA , HUTCHfromBA
I love you guys at Blackstar Amps, but after you brought out this HT-5R Combo only now, I feel disappointed...
It is normal that companies update and upgrade successful product lines, but I wonder why suddenly this change. It seemed that HT-5 Combo wasn't destined to have built-in Clean Tone knob, Reverb and Line-in/Mp3 plug, and now there they are.
I am not saying I don't like the amp, but I would have waited a bit more to buy the amp and love it more with all the features.
@claudiokun2007 There is always going to be something better and with more features right around the corner. Such is the way of technology and product development, and early adopters such as yourself must deal with that. Why don't you simply sell your amp to someone who doesn't care about or need the new features, and upgrade to the new model?
Im really happy that you guys switched everything in the HT-5 series to 12 inch speakers instead of the 10s. I will be getting this amp when I go to college and wont be able to bring a bigger one. How much will the little beast cost?
