  • If you have just finished taking antibiotics then probiotics would be beneficial to take.

  • I'm assuming with a name like "BBC Science", that this is a reputable and well trusted organization? What surprises me, and is rather irresponsible on their part, is that they have generalized 'probiotics'. They did not mention what strains were used in this 'clinical study', how many CFU's, and the video shows the product was in liquid form. 'Good' probiotics are enteric coated capsules, have a minimum of 10 Billion CFUs to be effective, and specific strains already proven to be effective.

  • why would they test them on healthy people?give them to sick people!

  • How do you know they actually gave probiatics in this test? to my understanding according to Dr. Ohhir, the color is black! I don't trust medical science, they are more content with keeping you sick for profit. They don't care about healing the sick, after all it is a business. And the orientals are know for their healing tea, So I would trust Dr. Ohhir, before i would the doctors of the U. S. they refuse to lable food containing GMO's which contain cancer causing agents?

  • - leafy greens to feed the good bacteria

    - avoid chlorine and environmental toxins as well as antibiotics

    - take a high quality supplement in capsule form that contains the dormant spores suitable to survive the upper GI tract

    - consider combing with digestive enzymes

  • PROBIOTICS MAKE YOU GO POOPTAY POOPTY

  • @xoxFashiionxox Courtneypants!!!! :)

  • @limerhymes yeah

  • if you are already healthy, duh...

how do you improve perfectly good health?

  • Raw fermented cabbage juice is good.

  • You have to learn about probiotics from Russians! Kefir or any drinkable formula is useless. Swallow always a capsule

  • You have to learn about probiotics from Russians!

  • its a global market even in little Belgium, website chrisal be and yakult started it.

  • This study did not compare different Probiotics such as the number of different stains of bacteria, the number of cells. Thus, it is not clear.

  • think us Joe Soaps know more about probiotics than these scientists, yer woman in the end hasnt a clue god love her

  • well probiotic drinks as stated in the video, to benefit from them you would need to drink 30 per day. A real probiotic is the one people need, like it said in the video, after bout of food poisoning try a really good one and see...thats the real test, I always have them on hand for that, got bad does once, never again, last time I got does had probiotic and did the trick,

  • I shit a lot better now. Thanks probiotics!! :D

  • guys...forget processed and comercialized probiotics...

    KEFIR IS THE REAL THING!

    learn more about it.

  • I have a bloating problem after eating. (Only occasional/rare IBS). Since taking acidophilus (probiotic) regularly before most meals my bloating ranges from mild to non-existent. After a big meal, I used to bloat so bad I would have to loosen my belt; my stomach would expand like a balloon. I can't recommend this product for everyone but it sure works for me. Might be worth a try if you don't wish to go on the meds. I see and experience a benefit, so I will continue on with probiotics.

  • It would be interesting to do the experiment with raw milk instead of pasteurized, which the experimenters presumably used -- and also whether to find out whether they used kefir culture, which contains a few strains of beneficial bacteria, or grains, which contain thousands. Pasteurized (dead) milk is inherently bad for people, so if they were using it, that would explain the folks who had bad results. Raw milk from clean healthy cows is a great food, and raw kefir is the best of both foods.

  • @Nilsosmar explain to me why they pasteurize orange juice? i don't understand that one at all. There's no possible way that it could be "contaminated".

  • @shakaama There's a government mandate to pasteurize some foods (even juices), including juices, because they could be contaminated with toxins like e coli and other bacteria (from handling). The heat from pasteurization does kill the bacteria. But the problem is, it also kills valuable enzymes in the foods and turns them from living into dead, allergy-causing products. Fementation using kefir grains is a more natural way of getting rid of the bacteria while preserving a healthful product.

  • @Nilsosmar i'm assuming organic would be no different. You'd literally have to buy the actual fruit organically grown and then make the juices yourself.

  • @shakaama Hi Shakaama, if you buy prepackaged juices from a commercial vendor, my understanding is that they're always heat-pasteurized. Odwalla, for example, used to sell raw juices, but switched to pasteurized after some people drank them and got sick. My own feeling is, buy local/organic at a farmer's market, then juice it yourself. (Or eat it unjuiced so you don't lose the valuable fiber which is lose during juicing)

  • EAT THIS CRAP OR YOU WILL DIIIIIIE! - next yakult advert

  • I'm 25 and have suffered from frequent random stomach pain since the age of 14. I have no insurance so I treated myself by taking raw garlic (to kill parasites and bad bacteria) and also taking probiotics (to restore the good bacteria). After 2 months of treatment my stomach problems were gone.

Wait at least 6 hours after eating the raw garlic before taking the probiotics.

  • Safe money, just get kefir grains... and you have a lifetime of kefir drink producing culture. 100 % natural.

  • Vidazorb chewable probiotics work great for me! The plus for me is definitely the 3year swhkf kife & the fact that it doesn't need to be refrigerated which is awesome when I go on vacation.

  • They work for me...but I use a very strong 15 strain version...12 years of pharmasudecals screwed me up....NSI 15-35 was the best. This is bad propaganda.

  • The reason that Clostridia increased in one patient is that these probiotic yoghurt drinks are FULL of sugar. Some of the leading brands have more sugar content in them than full fat Coca Cola. Probiotics are very, very good for you - its simply a case of taking it in the correct form, ie. a powder or a capsule. I take a probiotic called OptiBac, and recommend it very highly.

  • ok so the dr at the end is saying dont' take probiotic if you're healthy.

but that's like saying dont' take vitamin C if you're healthy. Is she seriously saying that?

"it helps at risk people, but healthy people it's hit or miss" so healthy people should degenerate their health first before taking something that maintains health? She's a kidder.

  • @shakaama lol, i don't think she's saying that... we all have a healthy population of these bacteria in our intestines, unless u've been on antibiotics or eat crap. as long as you have a healthy diet then you'll feed those bacteria and don't need to buy this crap. u only need one dose of probiotics in you life from ur mothers boob juice, where as u need vit c regularly.

  • @godkingRoss that's just it, people are dying of adult diabetes. people DON'T KNOW they're unhealthy. and americans all eat crap. unless you grow your own food or strictly buy organic everything and don't eat sugar and salt, you are unhealthy. end of story.

  • @shakaama i hear yer, mate. it's not just Americans either, the shet they pump in your food is all throughout the western world, you can either grow your own buy organic or be fed crap. although i don't agree with the salt and sugar part; you can enjoy those in moderation without feeling the side effects.

  • Culturelle has been HUUUUGE for me...just hyooge mon!!

  • probiotic supplements are good for when you're on antibiotics. strong antibiotics can clear all bacteria from your body, including beneficial ones, leaving your body open to infection by a nastier form of bacteria. for a reasonably healthy individual, there's really not that much point to taking them, imo. in my own experience, probiotics have definitely helped me with my eczema.

  • I bought some "Phillips Colon Health" at the drugstore in almost desperation. Within ONE WEEK.....the constant feeling of bloating was gone.......and I have not been constipated since. It's been about four months now that I've taken the phillips probiotic capsule every day.

This is a very simple MIRACLE CURE....for someone like me with nagging digestive problems after 50.

    Try it....it can't hurt.

  • i used treelac and dam it was good, but the beginning of it caused terrible side effects, but its like this it gets worse before it got better, i had terrible headaches, stomach crapping and constant irriablity. After a couple of weeks and drinking plenty of water the effects went away and i was better than before taking them. I recommended them, just bare the side effects.

  • My digestive health has been dramatically improved after using them. People need to realize that the strains you chose are very important and how much of the strains are provided. I am using a probiotic supplement that offers 14 strains and 25 billion CFU. It's called Primadophilus Optima from Nature's Way. Refrigerating is also important!

  • 35 billion*

  • One of the best probiotics supplments is Jarrow Formulas' Jarro-Dophilus. The enteric-coated (so that the bacteria will not be destroyed by the stomach acid enroute to the intestines) capsules are even individually blister-sealed. Get it from iherb and use YAN312 to receive a $5 discount off your oder. :)

  • let me tell u from my personal experience, probiotics are for sure for sur for sure benificial especially for those who are sufering from IBS.

I had what is called "After infection IBS" this thing happened after being inected with sort of food poisoning, and taking more than 14 consecutive antibiotics courses, this IBS can change your life and really change it to more than what you can emagine, Probiotics helped me alot and changed my life.

good luck for all those who fight against IBS

  • The probiotics that are sold in pharmacies, especially practitioner only forms are far more potent than anything you'd find in a standard yoghurt. You'd need to consume an awful lot of yoghurt drink to even come close to the potency of a properly formulated probiotic powder or capsule.

  • not true. Alot of the bacteria are killed off sitting on the shelves. They arent kept in the correct condition for maximal bacteria amount.

  • Take a good probiotic capsule......and then EAT what you like. Don't get sucked in by the marketing to eat alot of yogurt....that you always hated before.

  • Probiotics are recommended after antibiotics. The trials didn't examine fecal content which is the first thing I'd target to see if the probiotics had increased or decreased digestion of dietary content.

Bifidus is the strain best for 90% of people.

  • Empirical science. This is what Francis Bacon wanted us to do. Induction will set us all free!!

  • interesting - more of these pls! 5 stars.

  • um..............very WOW what was that bout (not to be mean just saying) oh and i love your nature movies they ROCK!!!

  • first

  • Here is my experience. I have been fighting ulcerative colitis and I didn't want to go on the drugs the doctor gave me because the side effects were horrible. I started probiotics and I can honestly say the symptons are 85% better. I take something called sustennex and it seems to be working.

  • @stemikger if your happy then that's all that matters but you might benefit from checking out Pranayama. Go to Baba Ram devs videos on youtube and check it out. Some of them deal with Ult Colitis. It's changed my life because I had an open mind to it. The choice is of course yours.
