@newagemisfit - he's spouting about how good political and fiscal integration are for the future of EU.
He wants an homogenous Europe where we all use the same currency, all pay the same taxes, all have one government (in Brussells) and all speak one language.
He's at the forefront of creating that language called Eurowaffle.
@jadagod - his wife's Spanish and the best way to perfect your language skills is to screw a native speaker.
I guess he wasn't a stranger to Amsterdam in his 20s either. And his German would have easier for him by already having learned Dutch.
Language learning is all about socialising with native speakers and can be perfected by getting drunk while doing so, as it reduces any inhibitions that might hold you back. The same with sex.
Well I'm impressed. I like languages, most Brits (eg the bad-commenters here) are intimidated and defensive cos they only speak one. Inferiority complex.
@GSCHALTUNG well, I wouldn't totally agree with that, he has been stigmatised quite a lot in UK politics recently! It is thoroughly embarassing (as British myself) to only speak one language. I hope to become fluent in at least another in my lifetime!
@asulei - you need to study in a class or have private lessons for a few months, then go and live in the country for a few months and then, to fine tune your fluency, grammar and accent, begin screwing a native speaker for a few more months. Then you'll be almost bilingual.
More foreign languages can be acquired the same way later on, and accumulatively each one you do becomes easier the more you do. Just like sexual partners.
tut tut nick... everyone knows its un problem... not una problema. can't say i blame him, he struggles with details, like that one time he got £0 and £9,000 mixed up. still at least nothing bad happened...

@pec104 Who are you? Adolf Hitler? His mother was a Dutchwoman, and her wife is a Spaniard. He is only an educated man, who is able to pick up other languages along his way.
@KrunkFuOvie Nothing to do with privileges, ever heard of self-education? I guess not, otherwise you wouldn't make a comment as silly as you did.. Buy a book and learn a language. I did, didn't regret it!
I must admit his Spanish is quite good(habla espanol muy bien) but like me he pauses too much whilst trying to search for the correct word and he has a slight stammer in spanish.
Really I think all this anti-clegg and anti-lib dem stuff is unfair. They had the choice of forcing a conservative minority government and having to spoend the next five years trying desperately to stop the conservatives from getting any of their crap through, whilst still being unable to do any actual good, or trying to get some of their good policies in in exchange for allowing some Conservative crap through. In hindsight we may think they made the wrong choice, but we should not demonise them
@Glaedeur It's not a nasty Spanish lisp it is how the language is supposed to be spoken you moron. As you pointed out you don't know if he's any good at it or not so don't try and make yourself look good by acting like a child. It is spoken like that for a reason and there's a reason it isn't spoken like that in Latin America or Mexico.

@GuillermsII considering he can speak Spanish, French, Dutch, German and English... pretty impressive, especially considering most English people are limited to bad grasp on our own language!
I´ve never heard an englishman speak so well in spanish, specially the pronunciation. Well, his wife is spanish and that something wiil have to do with it.

Well I do know. I often watch the BBC and went to England several times (next week I'll visit Edinburgh too). The difference between english and american english is immense, I hate the gnawing american pronuncation of their language. Remember that everything nowadays is in English, television, internet etc so we're affected by English every day
@evildjinn9 - Thanks for the vote of confidence :) I can learn another language fine (French/Spanish in school) but when it comes to speaking it... :/ It just doesn't stick.
(I'm actually 17. It's just when I joined YT at 13 I made myself 10 years older, internet safety and all that jazz.)
@CSINYFREAKnumba1 I just think that you need the right kind of exposure, you know? Books, films, making friends that already speak the language that you want to learn. Which language would you want to learn? I'm English, but I've been living in Amsterdam for quite a few years now, and my Dutch is fluent, and I mean perfect. But it's not only exposure, it's also the right frame of mind. When you learn a language, you have to try and think in it as well.
@evildjinn9 - Thanks for the advice. I've tried learning Spanish/French, I've always been interested in Russian and maybe a bit of Chinese/Madarin. But you're right - I've got time. Thanks again.
@homiezrgr8 You know, it's misogynists like you who ruin politics. You see reporters only in terms of looks, not as journalists, politicians, critics etc. Disgusting people like you should learn that this is 2011. Women are not objects, they are people!
How can a man like Clegg be so intelligent when it comes to learning foreign languages yet at the same time be completely idiotic when it comes to policies?
@Pepper6464 you don't have to be intelligent to learn a new language, in fact probably all of the worlds idiots have at least learned one language, we have evolved to learn languages rapidly even at a young age, so intelligence has nothing to do with language, neccesity? i think there you might be on to something
@audiofunkdialect i aree that it doesnt take intelligence to learn new languages however to speak in all of them fluently and not forget stuff in one language is very hard, for example my sister has completly forgotten her spanish, whereas i've retained my spanish french and english, while at the same time trying to learn korean japanese and italian, and to keep all of those in balance does requier alot of intelligence especcially if you dont speak them all the time
@CookieCrumblz Clegg had a choice. Leave the Tories as a minority government, and the international markets would promptly lose confidence in the UK government. This would be a disaster for our economy. Many tards like you don't understand that. Clegg has prevented a lot of Tory legislation from getting through. Without him, it wouldn't be £9000 fees- it would be unlimited. He is also pushing through some good reform in the Lords- which Labour will no doubt vote against.
@TheLiberalKnight You are the biggest fool EVER. Clegg could have jumped in bed with Labour, with the support of Plaid, Alliance, SDLP and the Greens. Other countries like Australia have doen that. Clegg has allowed many Tory policies on the economy, free schools, the NHS, tuition fees, police reform etc. One minute you said that Clegg betrayed you now you are his bodyguard. Labour support a wholly-elected Lords, but it is the Tories which will block the Bill not Labour. You have lost the plot.
@CookieCrumblz Jumped in bed with a far left massive government party Labour, who didn't win enough seats in parliament. Do you have any respect for democracy at all? Clegg had no choice. If he had formed a Lib/Lab coalition I would leave the country- democracy would be finished.
@TheLiberalKnight Are you out of your mind? The Tories did not win an overall majority they missed it. In Australia they have made PROGRESSIVE alliances, to prevent rightwing governments. It is a fair option which was backed by the vast majority of Lib Dems. Only Tories (and a few Labour tribalists) could revolt against a reasonable plan. The fact you've called Labour "far-left" goes to show you are out of your mind. Is it democratic to break key promises to the electorate? No!
@CookieCrumblz No, but the Tories won the most seats. I would have prefered the Liberals to get the most seats, but this didn't happen. I would have probably supported a Lib/Lab alliance if Labour had won more seats in a hung parliament than the Tories. But the party with the most seats being denied the right to govern is undemocratic. Sad though it is, the Tories had to be part of a coalition. What matters is what the Liberals have and haven't done since then.
@TheLiberalKnight I'm sorry, one minute you attack Labour the next you wish were part of an alliance with the LDs. The LDs were never going to win the most seats (they are heading for a car crash now). Let me give you an example. In 2006, Labour was the largest single party in Southwark. They had the most votes. The Tories and the Lib Dems, for political reasons, chose to run the council together. The same has happened in Birmingham. The LDs have propped up a Tory government and Tory policies.
@CookieCrumblz I was saying that I would support a Lib/lab coalition if Labour won the most seats. But they didn't, therefore I cannot morally support that. It is undemocratic. I know the LDs are finished, because there are so many idiots who voted for them, expecting socialist policies. They have far less in common with Labour than people think. Economically, they are more similar to the Tories. They appear to follow a more classical, rather than Keyenesian, approach to the economy.
@TheLiberalKnight So therefore you are saying that Birmingham council is undemocratic. You seem to forget, the Lib Dems positioned themselves to the left of Labour. They were founded by the SDP! Now they are close ideologigcally to the Tories, but they promised high expenditure and high taxes on the rich which did attract support from the left. It is now that the Liberal Democrats have revealed they are rightwingers. Again, you are completely out of touch!
@CookieCrumblz It is far different on the council seats.
Actually, the LibDems were formed by a merger of the SDP and Lib Dems. It turns out that more of their members are Liberal rather than SDP. That's the problem. Everyone thought they were Labour.2. They have always stressed that they are centralist. You seem to think that if you support small government, you must be right wing. That's simply untrue. Small government is just logical. It was advocated by left wing governments of the past.
@TheLiberalKnight You're definately confused. The Lib Dems did not come from a merger of the SDP and the Lib Dems! I will not be lectured by you about logic. The Lib Dems are not centralist, they believed in devolving powers like Labour. I do not belive in big government I believe in active government. You're just a confused rightwinger!
It is not different in council seats it is the same. Most people voted Labour in Birmingham but they got a Con-Dem government - that is fine!
@CookieCrumblz It's a merger of the Liberal party as the SDP. So they were not founded by the SDP at all, it was a merger. The Lib Dems never once positioned themselves to the left of Labour.
If Labour got the most votes at Birmingham, they should be running the council, or be part of a coalition, of course. The Liberals want power to the people. Labour would prefer to steal your money and spend it for you. Labour does not reward hard work. Their idea of fairness is distorted.
@TheLiberalKnight So now admit that the Liberals were undemocratic by running Birmingham? The SDP did found the Lib Dems in the sense that without the SDP there would be no Lib Dems and they did position themselves to the left of Labour.
The Lib Dems do not want power to the people, they want power for themselves. Labour wants fairer taxation and social responsiblity. That is fairness. The Lib Dems are throwing people on the dole and on the streets. That is not fairness - typical of your party.
@CookieCrumblz Yes, if the Lib Dems and Tories have formed a coalition in Birmingham when Labour have the most seats and votes, it is undemocratic.
Labour does not want fair taxation. Look at the middle classes. Look at the lower classes. They are both taxed half to death. Labour think that fairness means high taxation and equal services. Labour does not support the working man who wants to become rich. They will never understand that. They are anti-business.
@TheLiberalKnight I think it goes to show that you are completely out of touch and know little about politics. They are not taxed half to death. Look at the tax credits and tax cuts under a Labour government. Lower and middle incomes went up under Labour. Labour cut VAT something even Ken Clarke supported, which supported business. If Labour are anti-business why is it that we have support of businessmen - one who was poor and became rich.
@CookieCrumblz My friend earns £55,000 a year. Pretty well off, but hardly rich, is it? Thanks to Labour, he is treated as a top earner. That is appauling. How is that fair, exactly? He is treated by the law as if he is rich.
Lower and middle incomes went up under Labour as a result of following Tory policies and because of good growth in the world economy.
Labour are supported by businesses who are so big they avoid tax. Almost no small business supports Labour- that is a fact.
@TheLiberalKnight If you have not realized it is the Coalition who is cutting child benefit for those people so shut up. The good growth came under a Labour government! In fact David Cameron was pressed to admit that growth was up under Labour, growth is bad under the Tories. Labour has the support of many small businesses - that is a fact - in fact I know it is a fact.
@CookieCrumblz I'm sorry for being rude here, but you never stop talking about growth, as if it is the most essential part of an economic strategy! Growth will be bad under this coalition government. Of course it will. That does not mean the economy will crash, as Mr. Balls is saying. You cannot have growth without the confidence of the international markets, and the international markets have no confidence unless the deficit is significantly cut. And then you have issue of inflation
@TheLiberalKnight The fact you do not recognize growth just proves my point. We need growth to reduce the deficit. Latest figures from the NIESCR show that the economy has grown by 0.1% since October! That means danger. The markets will lose confident if Osborne's keeps lying about the deficit and they will lose confidence is there is no growth! To get growth up we need to boost confidence. There is almost no confidence in the economy due to high inflation, low retail sales and high VAT!
@CookieCrumblz The idea that growth is the more important aspect of economic recovery is one theory, not a fact. Because they are politicians, Osborne & Balls will press their arguments into everyone's mind, as if it is factual. Neither of them have the facts on their side. There is no straight answer. I have made up my own decision based on the strengths, weaknesses and the history of the economy, not what any politican has said.
@TheLiberalKnight I'm not actually saying that, what I am saying is that growth is issential in our economy especially when we need to cut the deficit. My economics is based on the economic history, on economic research but also on what seems logical. I am not Balls' biggest fan but he is absolutely right. He is right on VAT, he is right on the cuts, he is right on growth but he needs more clout. You are influenced by politicians, TheLiberalKnight. Anyway what is your deficit reduction plan?
@CookieCrumblz That's a fair stance to take. I personally take the view that low growth is an unfortunate but acceptable sacrifice in a deficit reduction process.
What irritates me about the keynesian plan from Balls is the sheer scale of rising debt he is proposing. I don't think VAT should have risen, but proposing a cut is ludicrous. I am not influence by politicians. I think you have repeated an insult so many times that you yourself believe it.
@TheLiberalKnight Low growth? There is almost NO growth. You cannot cut the defict without growth look at Greece! Rising debt? We are spending £12bn on welfare, how about that money gets spent on a tax cut which will benefit the economy rather than putting people on benefits? The IMF effectively support this policy. VAT cut is the best policy - it is a tax cut on the poor, on jobs, on businesses. It will create over 300,000 jobs!

True! Everytime I hear american english my toes bend (dutch proverb) because of the shallowness of those idiots.

CSINYFREAKnumba1 5 months ago
@CSINYFREAKnumba1 I just think that you need the right kind of exposure, you know? Books, films, making friends that already speak the language that you want to learn. Which language would you want to learn? I'm English, but I've been living in Amsterdam for quite a few years now, and my Dutch is fluent, and I mean perfect. But it's not only exposure, it's also the right frame of mind. When you learn a language, you have to try and think in it as well.
evildjinn9 5 months ago
@evildjinn9 - Thanks for the advice. I've tried learning Spanish/French, I've always been interested in Russian and maybe a bit of Chinese/Madarin. But you're right - I've got time. Thanks again.

How can a man like Clegg be so intelligent when it comes to learning foreign languages yet at the same time be completely idiotic when it comes to policies?
Pepper6464 9 months ago
@Pepper6464 you don't have to be intelligent to learn a new language, in fact probably all of the worlds idiots have at least learned one language, we have evolved to learn languages rapidly even at a young age, so intelligence has nothing to do with language, neccesity? i think there you might be on to something
audiofunkdialect 8 months ago
@audiofunkdialect i aree that it doesnt take intelligence to learn new languages however to speak in all of them fluently and not forget stuff in one language is very hard, for example my sister has completly forgotten her spanish, whereas i've retained my spanish french and english, while at the same time trying to learn korean japanese and italian, and to keep all of those in balance does requier alot of intelligence especcially if you dont speak them all the time

CookieCrumblz 9 months ago
@CookieCrumblz Clegg had a choice. Leave the Tories as a minority government, and the international markets would promptly lose confidence in the UK government. This would be a disaster for our economy. Many tards like you don't understand that. Clegg has prevented a lot of Tory legislation from getting through. Without him, it wouldn't be £9000 fees- it would be unlimited. He is also pushing through some good reform in the Lords- which Labour will no doubt vote against.
TheLiberalKnight 9 months ago
@TheLiberalKnight You are the biggest fool EVER. Clegg could have jumped in bed with Labour, with the support of Plaid, Alliance, SDLP and the Greens. Other countries like Australia have doen that. Clegg has allowed many Tory policies on the economy, free schools, the NHS, tuition fees, police reform etc. One minute you said that Clegg betrayed you now you are his bodyguard. Labour support a wholly-elected Lords, but it is the Tories which will block the Bill not Labour. You have lost the plot.
CookieCrumblz 8 months ago
@CookieCrumblz Jumped in bed with a far left massive government party Labour, who didn't win enough seats in parliament. Do you have any respect for democracy at all? Clegg had no choice. If he had formed a Lib/Lab coalition I would leave the country- democracy would be finished.
TheLiberalKnight 8 months ago
@TheLiberalKnight Are you out of your mind? The Tories did not win an overall majority they missed it. In Australia they have made PROGRESSIVE alliances, to prevent rightwing governments. It is a fair option which was backed by the vast majority of Lib Dems. Only Tories (and a few Labour tribalists) could revolt against a reasonable plan. The fact you've called Labour "far-left" goes to show you are out of your mind. Is it democratic to break key promises to the electorate? No!
CookieCrumblz 8 months ago
@CookieCrumblz No, but the Tories won the most seats. I would have prefered the Liberals to get the most seats, but this didn't happen. I would have probably supported a Lib/Lab alliance if Labour had won more seats in a hung parliament than the Tories. But the party with the most seats being denied the right to govern is undemocratic. Sad though it is, the Tories had to be part of a coalition. What matters is what the Liberals have and haven't done since then.
TheLiberalKnight 8 months ago
@TheLiberalKnight I'm sorry, one minute you attack Labour the next you wish were part of an alliance with the LDs. The LDs were never going to win the most seats (they are heading for a car crash now). Let me give you an example. In 2006, Labour was the largest single party in Southwark. They had the most votes. The Tories and the Lib Dems, for political reasons, chose to run the council together. The same has happened in Birmingham. The LDs have propped up a Tory government and Tory policies.
CookieCrumblz 8 months ago
@CookieCrumblz I was saying that I would support a Lib/lab coalition if Labour won the most seats. But they didn't, therefore I cannot morally support that. It is undemocratic. I know the LDs are finished, because there are so many idiots who voted for them, expecting socialist policies. They have far less in common with Labour than people think. Economically, they are more similar to the Tories. They appear to follow a more classical, rather than Keyenesian, approach to the economy.
TheLiberalKnight 8 months ago
@TheLiberalKnight So therefore you are saying that Birmingham council is undemocratic. You seem to forget, the Lib Dems positioned themselves to the left of Labour. They were founded by the SDP! Now they are close ideologigcally to the Tories, but they promised high expenditure and high taxes on the rich which did attract support from the left. It is now that the Liberal Democrats have revealed they are rightwingers. Again, you are completely out of touch!
CookieCrumblz 8 months ago
@CookieCrumblz It is far different on the council seats.
Actually, the LibDems were formed by a merger of the SDP and Lib Dems. It turns out that more of their members are Liberal rather than SDP. That's the problem. Everyone thought they were Labour.2. They have always stressed that they are centralist. You seem to think that if you support small government, you must be right wing. That's simply untrue. Small government is just logical. It was advocated by left wing governments of the past.
TheLiberalKnight 8 months ago
@TheLiberalKnight You're definately confused. The Lib Dems did not come from a merger of the SDP and the Lib Dems! I will not be lectured by you about logic. The Lib Dems are not centralist, they believed in devolving powers like Labour. I do not belive in big government I believe in active government. You're just a confused rightwinger!
It is not different in council seats it is the same. Most people voted Labour in Birmingham but they got a Con-Dem government - that is fine!
CookieCrumblz 8 months ago
@CookieCrumblz It's a merger of the Liberal party as the SDP. So they were not founded by the SDP at all, it was a merger. The Lib Dems never once positioned themselves to the left of Labour.
If Labour got the most votes at Birmingham, they should be running the council, or be part of a coalition, of course. The Liberals want power to the people. Labour would prefer to steal your money and spend it for you. Labour does not reward hard work. Their idea of fairness is distorted.
TheLiberalKnight 8 months ago
@TheLiberalKnight So now admit that the Liberals were undemocratic by running Birmingham? The SDP did found the Lib Dems in the sense that without the SDP there would be no Lib Dems and they did position themselves to the left of Labour.
The Lib Dems do not want power to the people, they want power for themselves. Labour wants fairer taxation and social responsiblity. That is fairness. The Lib Dems are throwing people on the dole and on the streets. That is not fairness - typical of your party.
CookieCrumblz 8 months ago
@CookieCrumblz Yes, if the Lib Dems and Tories have formed a coalition in Birmingham when Labour have the most seats and votes, it is undemocratic.
Labour does not want fair taxation. Look at the middle classes. Look at the lower classes. They are both taxed half to death. Labour think that fairness means high taxation and equal services. Labour does not support the working man who wants to become rich. They will never understand that. They are anti-business.
TheLiberalKnight 8 months ago
@TheLiberalKnight I think it goes to show that you are completely out of touch and know little about politics. They are not taxed half to death. Look at the tax credits and tax cuts under a Labour government. Lower and middle incomes went up under Labour. Labour cut VAT something even Ken Clarke supported, which supported business. If Labour are anti-business why is it that we have support of businessmen - one who was poor and became rich.
CookieCrumblz 8 months ago
@CookieCrumblz My friend earns £55,000 a year. Pretty well off, but hardly rich, is it? Thanks to Labour, he is treated as a top earner. That is appauling. How is that fair, exactly? He is treated by the law as if he is rich.
Lower and middle incomes went up under Labour as a result of following Tory policies and because of good growth in the world economy.
Labour are supported by businesses who are so big they avoid tax. Almost no small business supports Labour- that is a fact.
TheLiberalKnight 8 months ago
@TheLiberalKnight If you have not realized it is the Coalition who is cutting child benefit for those people so shut up. The good growth came under a Labour government! In fact David Cameron was pressed to admit that growth was up under Labour, growth is bad under the Tories. Labour has the support of many small businesses - that is a fact - in fact I know it is a fact.
CookieCrumblz 8 months ago
@CookieCrumblz I'm sorry for being rude here, but you never stop talking about growth, as if it is the most essential part of an economic strategy! Growth will be bad under this coalition government. Of course it will. That does not mean the economy will crash, as Mr. Balls is saying. You cannot have growth without the confidence of the international markets, and the international markets have no confidence unless the deficit is significantly cut. And then you have issue of inflation
TheLiberalKnight 7 months ago
@TheLiberalKnight The fact you do not recognize growth just proves my point. We need growth to reduce the deficit. Latest figures from the NIESCR show that the economy has grown by 0.1% since October! That means danger. The markets will lose confident if Osborne's keeps lying about the deficit and they will lose confidence is there is no growth! To get growth up we need to boost confidence. There is almost no confidence in the economy due to high inflation, low retail sales and high VAT!
CookieCrumblz 7 months ago
@CookieCrumblz The idea that growth is the more important aspect of economic recovery is one theory, not a fact. Because they are politicians, Osborne & Balls will press their arguments into everyone's mind, as if it is factual. Neither of them have the facts on their side. There is no straight answer. I have made up my own decision based on the strengths, weaknesses and the history of the economy, not what any politican has said.
TheLiberalKnight 7 months ago
@TheLiberalKnight I'm not actually saying that, what I am saying is that growth is issential in our economy especially when we need to cut the deficit. My economics is based on the economic history, on economic research but also on what seems logical. I am not Balls' biggest fan but he is absolutely right. He is right on VAT, he is right on the cuts, he is right on growth but he needs more clout. You are influenced by politicians, TheLiberalKnight. Anyway what is your deficit reduction plan?
CookieCrumblz 7 months ago
@CookieCrumblz That's a fair stance to take. I personally take the view that low growth is an unfortunate but acceptable sacrifice in a deficit reduction process.
What irritates me about the keynesian plan from Balls is the sheer scale of rising debt he is proposing. I don't think VAT should have risen, but proposing a cut is ludicrous. I am not influence by politicians. I think you have repeated an insult so many times that you yourself believe it.
Did you not recieve my message?
TheLiberalKnight 7 months ago
@TheLiberalKnight Low growth? There is almost NO growth. You cannot cut the defict without growth look at Greece! Rising debt? We are spending £12bn on welfare, how about that money gets spent on a tax cut which will benefit the economy rather than putting people on benefits? The IMF effectively support this policy. VAT cut is the best policy - it is a tax cut on the poor, on jobs, on businesses. It will create over 300,000 jobs!
