  • I finally get to see my big band hero live in a movie. talk about style...!

  • Nice to hear and SEE!

  • this must have sounded heavenly live.

  • What a tight group with so much energy. Woody never let things drag.

  • The drummer is Jake Hannah who died early last year, 2010, at the age of 68 from complications due to a blood disease. Superb musician, unusual in a drummer ;o)

  • @lastofthebarons Great drummer! He was actually 78 years old when he died last year.....

  • Woody had the best, most solid band in the land!!!! They could swing better than any other.

  • There are two thumbs down here. What is not to like?? Nice, tight ensemble work, screeming brass, interesting arrangement; great stuff!!

  • What's the drummers name? I see he changes his left hand grip.

  • Talent, great stuff

  • Woodys band never seems to get the recognition it deserves. He had what a big band was supposed to be about, dynamics.

  • I believe the Baritone saxist is Nick Brignola a great player from upstate New York

  • Nice Video - Jake Hanna - swingin' his tail off!

  • The tenor soloist is Carmen Leggio. He played at my wedding, along with Danny Stiles, Derek Smith, Milt "Judge" Hinton, and Mousey Alexander.

    Most swinging wedding band EVER.

  • @ssminopoopy

Wow, couldn't they find anybody that could play :)

Talk about the ultimate NY wedding band. Good for you, what a memory.

  • This is nice to swing to. oh yeah

  • Kind of a screwy arrangement. 10 points goes to one of Woody's best Herds! Love those flaming brass!

  • Carmen Leggio on the tenor solo.

  • The band also contained Bill Chase (centre trumpet), Phil Wilson (centre trombone), Nat Pierce (piano, who also arranged the tune),Chuck Andreas (bass) and Jake Hanna (drums). I don't know who the tenor soloist is, but the tenor men flanking him are Bobby Jones and Sal Nistico

  • What incredible musicians, do you know if a V Gray ever played drums for Woody, because if the rumor is true, that would make two people including a guitarist from Berklee School of Music that played with him that I have met?

  • Thank you for this.

  • The bone player is the famous Henry Southall. One of Woody's best 'herds.' Thanks for posting.
