  • You guys are fools... it's not about black women it's about loving himself as a man of color. It's a beautiful, inspirational song about self love and acceptance despite being hated on by the rest of the planet-

  • i thought he was referring to his "gun" as his Browning (since it's a type of gun)

but i'm white, so there you have it

  • @Mateo151 He is sing about his light skinned girlfriend.

  • @HairH2O White Jamaicans know what he is sing about. You mean your not Jamaican.

  • ' browning" a term for light skinned women. thats what he's singing about not a gun...

  • I was in form 2 in 1992 in Zimbabwe when I first heard dis tune...best times of my life. Mr Mention was action-packed & one of his best albums.

  • seamouse08 is obviously not a jamaican...di man a sing bout him light skin woman..lol

  • @sashoy18

  • i often get this song played to me by people... :) fully representing!!

  • Buju is talking about light-skinned females a.k.a Brownings. I am chocolate- skinned, and in the carribean anything darker than caramel or peanut butter is considered black. Indians are coolies or punjabi, asian are chiney or japanese. Coco women never take offence to this. If a man has a preference let them. Less were and tear on ur body. Also< Buju did make a song in where he states that he loves all women. So if he prefers a Browning let him!!!!!

  • @9keykey oh shut the fuck up! this song was offensive back then AND STILL IS FULL OF SHIT. you and black ass buju can take "love black woman" song and eat shit. I cant stand black bitches like you. Giving bullshit a pass when you know its FUCKING WRONG. do you also allow your "precious husband to rape your daughters" to keep him? or turn an eye to your fucked up evil man when he is abusing your son? yeah, jamaican women are known BITCHES LIKE THAT! shut the fuck up, i hope you all drown.

  • @seamouse08 Yes a browning is also a gun, but in this context I don't think that is what he was referring to...

  • @browningbbw thats cuz hes not, hes taking about a woman. hence why he came out with love black woman. this song sparked some major controversy so he had to clarify that he loves all black woman not just a browning

  • @seamouse08 He's referring to darker-skinned women, although a man can just as easily love a fine rifle. :)

    Bigup King Buju

  • @seamouse08 have u ever heard the lyrics MOVEEEEE Bout gun

  • @seamouse08 boo negative ass, EVER|Y|ONE knows a brownings a gun but he was talking bout o-man

  • @seamouse08 Hes on about a "halfcast" girl

Listen to the words Bro "coz she know when she alone me must come back home to her in da evening" 0:42

  • It wouldn't make since for him to nmame a song "Browning " if he was only talking about light skinned women. Light skin is not brown!

  • @719kai719 it is about the woman !

  • @se7en852 Thank you but is the song about light skinned women or dark skinned women? I think that the confusion lies there, because all the years I always assumed that he was speaking of darker skinned women who didn't b;each their skin. Are light skinned women called Browning in Jamaica? That sounds backwards to me!

  • @719kai719 yeh lightskin women are called browning

  • I am a chocolate brown woman and proud of my skin.God gave it to me and its beautiful.Every woman should feel the same about themselves no matter what complexion! Love yourself.Don't bleach your skin!I remember this song from way back in JHS. and H.S when I was a teen! Oh the parties, lol whining to this!

  • beautiful women are beautiful - Black Woman bigs up tha dark skin sisters / Browning bigs up the light skin and brown sisters. There we all got our 15 minutes of fame now let's just love and let love~!

  • I think it is rediculous that you guys are really in this day and age debating skin shade - so just for the record I am a 'browning' - a MIXED girl (which everyone I know interperets that is what he is speaking - especially since when the song came out every guy started calling me Browning!!! But having said that - who cares!!!!! I am beautiful, my sister who is fully black and dark skin is beautiful, my best friend who is white and trini is beautiful - what exactly are you guys debating? Chill!

  • Classic Buju

  • Man the funnies thing is bein white a blastin a tune like this in ya car. The looks you get is priceless. lmao Its even better when ya ah sing along. XD

  • @boyer352 I can just imagine that picture too. I'm mixed Cherokee and Irish, so am rather pale, and I do get those curious looks from people when I play any reggae loud and singing along. I've met a lot of people this way. It's never been an issue. As I said, it's mostly a curiosity factor.

  • @browningbbw-thanks for posting this! I haven't heard this in awhile, but this is also one of signature songs. peace.

  • I remember when this song came out in Jamaica....OMG it was the biggest controversy....all of a sudden it was brown skinned skins vs dark skinned girls.

Then he made another one to counteract this...I forgot the name...anyone remember?

  • This reminds me of Stew Leonard's Brownie cookies.

And no one but her knows what im talking about.

  • My Guy sings this to me<3 Doesn't mean he only likes light girls...but simply loves HIS Brownin'...

  • @DreamingMuse13 Yeah but he likes you primarily for your color then?

  • @ktc311 No he loves me because he has a SEXY woman who just so happens to be a brownin' :) Love my island man....

  • @ktc311 No he loves me because he has a SEXY woman who just so happens to be a brownin' :) Love my island man....

  • Who cares what buju was talkin about.....its a BIG TUNE, Ya' hear.

  • i am glad 2 see i am not the only one who knows that song was about the mother of his children. anywa, American do not respect, love their own black women. it probably struck a nerve because its the truth. @lmarr07

  • @BAJAMASBORN u rite

  • imarr07 when this song just came out darker skin females where saying the same ting but he did a song after about darker skin women (black) i guess he did it as maybe he was with a "browning" at the time

  • I didnt even know browning is a word for lightskinned people. I thought he was talking about brown women, as in darker women or typical black women dark or not. And I also thought that he was against women who bleach. When I listen to this song I think of dark skin or and shade of black women who dont bleach and are proud of their skin no matter how light or dark...

  • Well you learn something new everyday! Its a very common jamaican term used to describe black people that are lighter in complexion. I agree that we should be proud of whatever we are rather than trying to change things and I am against bleaching yet understand the mentality that drives people to do this.

  • @browningbbw I don't know what you're talking about or trying to stir up but he is not talking about a light skin girl when he says browning he is talking about a brown skin girl, there is also has a song he has called "love black women" you should check it out! He's clear on what type of women he loves and likes and it's not no light skin women, listen to the lyrics man don't try to seperate us black people! Or thinks he is into liking girls that bleach their skin cause he's not!

  • @MilitantBeats I love people that talk without reading. Try looking at what I wrote in the info. I don't need to try to seperate black people, cos I love all of us whatever the shade and there was no reference to bleaching. On top of that I've got love black woman up too. You have a problem with the track, take it up with Buju. So thanks for your comment, but it wasn't relevant.

  • browning means red woman stop hating dats y he made a remix cause chocalate woman was jealous

  • AHHHH HE LOVES ME!

  • whats the intro to this great track???

  • Tru Brownin

  • Well if you can't understand him, he's obviously not speaking to YOU

  • fuh real!!!!

  • To JiS01:

Omg dude, stay the f*ck off music sites where they don't speak the language you think they should.

  • these tune still mash up the dance

  • i love my island men.....unlike the USA they are proud to speak, sing, and show how much they love black women

  • @BAJAMASBORN That is some BULL. Man....I cant even begin to to tell you how many black men have songs for the black women. This is saddening to see the product of the evil trying to seperate us from each other, Amercian men vs Jamaican vs African. We are the same! I love dark crispy women, really I do, and my fellas dont mind them either, we all LOVE black women. I dont know why your comment struck such a deep nerve. USA men ARE proud to speak and sing for black women, Jus read your comment..

  • @BAJAMASBORN . And like me, you think he is talkin about your typical black women but hes not, he talkin about those yellow women, hmmmm. What does that say about ALL Jamaican men. I guess that mean they all dont like brown women or darker women. They want the mixed females right? Please, dont post things like that denounceing Black men in America because its just simply not the truth, it only applys to the few that dont know the beauty of black women.

  • To Imarr07:

Please listen to the song again.

If you listen to it carefully, you'll hear that Buju isn't praising all light-skinned women.

He's singing specifically about his "Lorna" who is the mother of his five children. Lorna Strachan has been with Buju since he was 18 years old up until last year when he was 36 years old.

She's a brown-skinned woman and that's why he's saying he loves his browning. Apparently, she's the love of his life.

    Listen, "My Lorna not leaving..."

  • @AllTruth1 Well thats not really the point on why I responded to BAJAMASBORN. Wethere what you say is true or not, I dunno, but other resources say that he is talking about lightskinned women and that people were upset about it, so he made a song about dark skin women. The point is American black men do love black women.

  • To lmarr07:

Okay, Brother (I presume), your point is well taken.
