The strangest thing about churches is that I can recall during the Vietnam war era Catholic churches in San Diego being for the war and at the same time churches in Boston against it. The whole issue of the Reverend Wright's statements become null and void when you realize that the sound bites were taken completely out of context by Fox News to meet the needs of their agenda of distraction and to foster the discreditation of Obama.
The man (Wright) is a deeply spiritual exponent of peace and encourages self analysis in order to deepen our relationship with God and each other.

He has been using race to gain votes. Anyone who uses their mind can see that. Hillary said, "MLK started a movement, which was put into law by LBJ"..Obama twisted it and said "hillary thinks a white president was needed to pass the law and MLKs movement was nothing without LBJ." That is using race to gain votes. Hillary's simple quote became an Anti-MLK quote because of Barack.

if you don't have an allegiance to any race, you don't go to a church that believes that ONE race is oppressing the OTHER. You don't go to a church that believes ONE race is using HIV to Kill Another. You don't go to a church that Awards a Racist (ferrakhan) who is anti-white, anti-jew, pro-hitler. There is so much confliction with Obama's speech of unity and his actions.

The strangest thing about churches is that I can recall during the Vietnam war era Catholic churches in San Diego being for the war and at the same time churches in Boston against it. Churches in the South during the Civil rights marches being for segregation and others against it. I know two priests in my church one is a racist and the other is the opposite.

Well maybe you could find it easy to distance yourself from a life-long friend of 20+ years. However, most people aren't that cold hearted and wouldn't do such a thing to save face. The main point here is that Obama does not agree with what was said. He attended the church for the religious influence, not the political advice. Reverend Wright was a RELIGIOUS mentor to Obama, not a political advisor. The is a huge difference between the two.

Could you possibly be confusing what he said? When he said he wasn't attending when his pastor said those things, I believe he meant that he wasn't in church on THAT day that the media covered the controversy. Of course he has been to church when his pastor has said some things that were considered controversial. That does not mean he agrees with those things. Like I said there is a huge difference between religious believes and politcal opinions.

FREEDOM IS OFTEN AN ILLUSION! When did patriotism turn into something that had to be visibly displayed? I don't own an American flag, have never posted a "God Bless America" bumper sticker on my car, and will never choose to wear a flag pin. In fact, I have very often been disappointed in America's policies (here & abroad), frustrated by the lack of concern for ALL citizens, and yesterday diagreed with parts of Bush's speech and for these things I might be considered unpartiotic.Give me a break!
