  • No problem my friend, so do I. I was looking for a clean vintage amp about 10 yrs ago when I found the '66 Gem I. These are maybe the best jazz guitar amps ever made. When I plugged in the salesman got me a patch cable and jumpered the channels and bam...the amp became a different beast. Remember, the Guitar and Accordion inputs are built with different gain structures. The latter offering a grittier sound, while the Guitar inputs offer more headroom. I have spent years tweaking the tone options

  • I notice you're not jumpering the channels....any particular reason??

You can really tune these Gems up and run 'em full bore when the 2 channels are jumpered. It gives you tons of tonal options. Set one side bright, the other bassy..etc.

Just run a patch cable from either CH1 input to either CH2 input. Works like a charm imo.

  • @SixStringHarmonies OK I just gotta say WOW... I have had a Gemini II for about 3 years.. and I was just watching this video above and saw your comment... I did what you said and it was like BAM Tone Heaven!!!!! Can Not Thank you enough for posting some wisdom!!! THANK YOU !!! By the way.. I LOVE my 65 Gemini II

  • @sngncwby Ampeg Geminis were big sellers in the 60's. A lot of folks bought them and there are a ton out there. They are relatively unknown and can be found at amazing prices. Another detail is that V4 and V5 are ch2 and ch1's input tubes. If you use different brands & types in conjunction with the different input jack options and tonestack choices. You can tweak these things to perfection and dial in a perfected sound.

    You can use a 12AX7 in V4 and a 12AT7 or 12AY7 in V5 to cut ch1's gain.

  • djnp on ebay has a pedal for one of these ending Aug 29, 201118:58:18 PDT
