As for the Nazis their crimes are comparable not greater than those of the Communists as such some people became Nazis to fight Communist tyranny, but this was all after Trotsky. The dictatorship of the proletariat only included party members so it was an oligarchy not a democracy and a brutal one at that.

I think that this film portrays Leon Trotsky in a positive light and in doing so does a horrific disservice to history. Trotsky served with Lenin to overthrow the democratically elected government of Alexander Kerenski and imposed a Communist dictatorship which forced the country into civil war and began a reign of terror. During the time when Trotsky was in power 4 million people were systematically murdered in death camps, gulags or manufactured famine.

Kerensky's government had so little support by the time of the revolution that its overthrow took less than 20 hours. also, there was no "communist dictatorship" imposed, as absolute power was never entrusted in any one person - and even if it were, it certainly would not have been Trotsky.

also, the gulags were far from "death camps." they were forced labour camps reserved primarily for rapists, murderers, Nazi collaborators and the like. there was no "systematic murder," as in Nazi Germany.

Not true the gulags where where political prisoners and people selected at random were worked to death also there were man executions and a famine on the Volga as well as one in the Ukraine due to Soviet economic policy and the taking of food. Communists were free to commit torture, rape and murder.
