"Faith" is overrated. If there is a god we wouldn't need faith. It would just be a fact. Faith is Not a virtue. Faith is believing what you have to proof of or know it ain't so.

First, I find it ironic to say that "God gives us a choice". To say that we only have choices because god gives it to us. I think that we have no choice but to have choices...that's irony for you. @MsKakaChua Maybe I wasn't being clear enough or you're misunderstanding me. To me, at least, there's not much a difference between faith and "blind faith". Faith essentially means belief without evidence. Thus, if you're a Christian, I take it; then you're obligated, at a ,to believe in certain things...ie...Jesus son of god, rose from the dead, born of virgin, and other doctrines of the bible etc...correct? What the "danger" I was referring to was that there are many other things ..

Many people do not eat certain foods on certain days etc based on the bible. These are benign examples....but getting to my point...what atrocities can you not perform when you think you have god on your side? How many murders and wars have taken place as a consequence of people believing that god told them to do it?

@HimmuraTube I see where you are getting at. Absolutely, "Chrisitianity" has had a terrible reputation for starting many wars. My question is what god were those people following? I know there are many people who say they are following the God of the Bible when they are just using him as an excuse for their wars/ other atrocious acts (i.e. polygamists from the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ). People are people and we sin.

@MsKakaChua ...as you are. Take the people from the Westboro Baptist church. I think even the most conservative of Xtians would find these people to be vile. However, one would not question their faith in their, however perverted, interpretation of the bible. Lets face it, the things they believe in are indeed written in the bible. They just pick and choose the verses to follow just like you pick and choose the verses to follow.

@HimmuraTube Point taken: there are different interpretations like most literary sources. However I believe most of the time the core message is the same and that is what is important. In no way am I trying to put down other denominations, that's what I hope to get across.

@HimmuraTube Those who truly follow Christ would turn away from repeating their sins and realize that just because God forgives you doesn't mean you can do whatever you like. After all, true Christians believe that we are broken people and can only find healing and purpose in living through Jesus. Just my 2 bits. :)

However, my points were made to apply to all religions and all imaginary gods, including the god of Abraham - ie the judeo-christian god. Since you're christian, I'll make some points specifically you Christianity. There are many denominations in Christianity. And they all have their own interpretations of the bible etc. No doubt that people from other denoms are just as faithful...
