I always wondered why Renzo never had a highlight reel either, thank you so much for creating this. I love Gracie Barra but if i could be taught by Renzo I'd be ecstatic, his documentary is hilarious and inspirational he tells it like it is.
Renzo is good but not that good. Not sure why he is such a cocky person in life. Secondly, BJJ so single minded and LACKs techniques found in most arts. Japanese Jujutsu is like most Japanese arts and emphasizes manners and etiquette that true BUDO is known for. BJJ is just a BAD copy.
it completely neglects KIHON, Geri, Tsuki, Uchi, & Atemi waza and does not promote character betterment either.
Most Brazilian martial artists I have met are arrogant and think the world of themselves. SHAME.
@Mindflayr5 Okay, Im drunk, and you are sober.. I am not going to lower myself to your level of language. I was stating facts of martial arts and the way many people are when they study such arts that lack the philosophical aspects of training. This is happens in Karate too and many americanized arts as well. BJJ is no different. You cannot deny that it lacks many things other arts offer and it is single in its approach. Unlike Jujutsu the ORIGINAL ART. Any more name calling?
@karatekid73 Sorry to bust into your conversation, but dude, just what the fuck are you talking about? Are you a BJJ practicioner? Have you EVER been to Brazil and trained in a BJJ dojo? Hardly, right?
Stick t waht you know, you are just making yourself look foolish, ignorant and arrogant.
@musicologo123 ur entitled 2 ur opinion. FYI, I've Been training for 30 years in Traditional Karate and Judo. Been To Japan & certified from there, Been 2 UK & Middle East all for training Sake. NUF about me. Point is, BJJ is not originally Brazilian, therefore many things have been left out from its original form. "DO" as well as all Striking, kicking and standup. It's single sided in its approach due to that fact. It is sport oriented for the most part and Etiquette is left out to dry.
@karatekid73 Funny though, when you write you appear as being somewhat yonger than you claim to be...anyways, "FYI", I am a black-belt in both Jiu-Jitsu and Judo...and I am brazilian by the way. There are schools that teach only the sport aspect of Jiu-Jitsu and there are schools, like my own, that are more fight oriented. I have learned Atemi since my white belt, as Jiu Jitsu was taught in the Gracie Academy originally, as well as Budo etiquette. You don´t know what you are saying.
@musicologo123 Thanks again for another Compliment... I am not here to name call or accuse anyone their intelligence level or how they speak, I am simply pointing out some of the issues that most people misunderstand or choose to ignore. The ethnicity person is does not justify or indicate experience or credibility. Whether U r Brazilian or Japanese, It does not mean a person is experienced or not. The fact is undeniable, Brazilian Jujutsu is not Balanced. Ill continue in the next comment.
Red previous comment 1st: main reason I say modern Judo, and BJJ are not balances is simply that the Atemi Waza that is supposedly taught or practiced is not based on the same technical fundamentals that make them so effective from a striking arts perspective. A BJJ practitioner does not break down a punch or a kick like they do their grappling skills. Many Karate school don't do this in grappling either, so itis not the art, originally it is the person teaching. the problem is.....
# 3 The problem is that the only way for an art to be completely balance in its approach is the study it and practice it in a balanced fashion. If the majority of your training is on the ground then training is not balanced. if you train in only sport based techniques and not reality based, then training is unbalanced. All art are good, But neglecting an aspect of them regularly is killing an art. Some where in history, when jigaro Kano and Funakoshi, continued ....
#4 the founders of Judo and Karate-do transformed their arts from a more dangerous nature to a more suitable format for all ages and. Karate justu and Ju jutsu were lacking the philosophical aspect "DO" , it was not until Jujutsu became JUDO and Karatejustu became KarateDO that more interest and popularity developed.
MOST people believe that because the Gracies introduced their take on things makes it authentic and balanced. One thing is for certain.....
