  • Beautiful music, beautiful pics... I've never heard that guitar solo in the middle before, it made me very happy. :)

  • where can i buy the record

  • snowy white...!!!

  • i like the solo of who is cuz the origunal dont have it

  • ssooooo great! From Lori

  • WHERE DOES THE COMPLETE VERSION COME FROM?!?

  • @NotOrdinaryInGames This was originally done for the Animals album but i think due to running time, it was split into 2 parts, minus the solo. Think, as scrutex says below, this version was put on the 8 track version. Hopefully it will be on the new experience/immersion reissues!

  • My dad once said This song is about the dependance of relationships and how nothing can be done with out your lover or friend.

  • @Viewtifulexprience I love it. Good Dad. Dependence in the best way possible, I think.

  • The eight track version with Snowy White, been looking for a good sounding copy for a while! Thanks.

  • The one band who could have a 5-song album and it's still incredible.

  • absolutly a fantastic sad song

  • The greatest band in history, there will be no band like floyd, and it's sad we won't hear new music from them. Floyd has set the bar high for bands to high for most of them

  • pink floyd never did a bad song ever

  • first time i've listen to this version,to short and mixed no good

  • does anyone know how i might go about getting this on my itunes????

  • @clay2728 A Tube Catcher. c o m

  • Mocart, Betoven ,Da Vinci , PINK FLOYDI i lik sto je provalio VUTRU su najveci ljudi koji su ikada hodali !

  • Just plain good music. Loved Floyd many years ago, and have never given them up, never will. Hope to been sitting in a rocking chair in my older, old age listening to Pigs on the Wing.

  • 0:47 = BBF

    Image & Lyrics Fit Perfectly

  • this song must be included on the album..perfect to close animals

  • Where did you get all those old Sid pictures??

  • lo mejor de mis tiempos mozos

  • lo mejor de mis tiempos.......sin duda alguna

  • The lyrics pretty much define all that is wrong with the world today... "care" is what is wrong, or at least the inverse of care- contempt. All other global issues stem from us having contempt for our fellow humans. The engineering of how to resolve contempt is the beginning of Enlightenment, which is the next phase of human existence. Enlightenment is the activation of the Higher Mind after disassembling all reactive/learned components. The tune is pretty good too.

  • Best version WITH SOLO!!

  • Great song that reminds of me of trying to hold on to someone special in your life.

  • I knew there was something different about the guitar solo.... It just didn't sound like Gilmour.

  • please, stop to be stubborn get together again

  • @pigsontherun Without Richard Wright, it's highly unlikely. If he hadn't passed away, it'd probably have ended up happening. Hell, it almost did, but... I forget if it was Reading or Glastonbury, but the festival had already booked its bands and refused to bump one so that Pink Floyd could headline. Damn shame.

  • i get crazy if i cannot listen this

  • How in the hell is it that I've NEVER heard this in it's complete form....including the guitar thing bridging ........what serve as sort of musical "bookends" to the rest of the album?

  • @195511SM This was a special version for the 8-track release of the album.

  • @195511SM because this was a special edit with Snowy White on guitar and Richard Wright on the Hammond Organ

  • There is a reason they call it a band. It takes more than one.

  • i totally care!!!!

  • love the pics on this vid!!!

  • occasionally glancing up through the rain

  • Why can't more artist write and sing like they did. With intense passion. PINK FLOYD (I'll always love you guys)

  • THE DESCRIPTION IS RIGHT, THIS IS THE GREATEST BAND EVER!!

  • Wait where the hell did the solo come from. Was this released as a single?

  • @uh0oo DUDE!!! I'm wondering the same thing! I used to have the "Animals" album and this version is not on there? The songs were cut in half and it was all acoustic. Where did this come from? LOL!!! Anyways it's a GREAT version!

  • @mrbeerjones This version is one they recorded with a guy named Snowy White, he's the one doing the solo

  • @AK4TsEv3N Thanks man!!!

  • @mrbeerjones Yep, You're welcome =)

  • @uh0oo As far as I remember, this version was created for the Stereo 8 cartridge version; since in this format the albums loop, a special bridge was created with a solo played by Snowy White, who was hired as second guitar/bass for the tour...

  • 23 people have clearly gone deaf

  • There is always something good in everyone, but its human nature to find the bad. Be different and look for the good and the bad may fade. PINK FLOYD'S music will be popular forever.

  • @turboted777

    You are absolutely right !!!

    This muse is beautiful !

  • There is always something good in everyone, its just human nature to find the bad. Be different look for the good and the bad tends to fade.

  • So is this the version from the Animals 8-track or the one from the Snowy White comp. because I'm told they're slightly different??

  • Great sound quality.

  • ive been a floyd head 20 fukn years and i never knew there was more to this song than what was on the amimals album!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what the fuk!!!!!!!!!!!!??? i fuking breathe pink floyd.. how did i not know that???????????

  • @michellekfleming This is just parts 1 and 2 put together...

  • @DarkSunGod Where did the guitar solo come from?

  • @michellekfleming how about a 30+ year fan who didn't know about this version until today? Those secretave bastards!

  • sounds a bit like "Mother" from the wall.

  • @turbocat64 Yup, major use of the C and G chords. I get mixed up myself when I play either of the songs.

  • I had a man ask me once if I were stranded on an island and had only one band to listen to, who would I choose? I love music, plain and simple. Melodies, riffs and lyrics stay in my head. My son played his first air guitar to AC/DC. It was beautiful. The best band ever? The Beatles. No. The Rolling Stones. No. I may have AC/DC in my heart but my mind is right. Stranded on an island and only able to listen to one band? I choose the best band ever. PINK FLOYD!

  • what an awsome melody, all the musical pieces with Rogers voice just makes this an amazing song words cant discribe.

  • Pink Floyd were 50 years before their time

Most people still don't undertsand what they were singing

  • this song is the best unheard solo

  • This song is real or what?? I'm on shock!!!

  • gilmour is indeed magical...but the solo is stormy white

  • @DBRGroup snowy white lol

  • @drums127 ya, snowy white did the solo. look it up.

  • @DBRGroup I know he did , i never said he didnt lol . I love his solo here

  • one of my favorites on this album. Love Floyd.Never tire of it

  • ThePopsheep,, you can put all 11 tracks on Division Bell & don't add up to any of the 5 tracks on Animals

  • @envade2 We'll have to agree to disagree.

  • @envade2 thepopsheep is fucking crazy! Waters IS Pink Floyd. "Fuck Waters"? So, why would all those guys attach themselves to the music demos and lyrics Waters brought? Because they NEEDED him! PF's peak was when Waters was in the band-do the math.... They became bloated after Waters left.....

  • yea blazed out eyeballs, hahahaha,

  • Does anyone know where I can buy the complete version (such as this)? I've listened to this about ten times in a row and can't stop even though I have so much stuff to do today. I would very much like to listen to this on the train.

  • I got this song on vinyl...And let me tell u that some gold i got!

  • Comment removed

  • Syd Barrett rifaba!! el mejor

  • probably my favorite Pink Floyd song... off a great album

  • Thank You

  • where did you get this from? Been listening to floyd for 27 years and have never heard this before.

  • @11ellsbells lol this is the first and fifth track of their 1977 album 'Animals' put together

  • @11ellsbells i should have listened first... didnt notice this was a diffrent version nevermind

  • its from the album animals when they releised it on cd they cut it into 2 parts and took out the geutar solo for the album animal;s im sure u could get the full version off lime wire or something

    @11ellsbells

  • @1000DonkeyBalls nah, it was like that on the 12" vinyl record too....

  • @1000DonkeyBalls No. This version was only on the 8-track version of the album. The only other place I ever found it (aside filesharing sites) was on a hard-to-find Snowy White compilation - he was the one who played the middle solo.

  • must we waste time talking about before/after Waters? just enjoy the music.

  • @MrKillerhaven

Amen.Who fucking cares anymore? They made great music together. Let's enjoy.

  • In which album can I find this version?

  • @faberkazam

Besides the original 8-track (which was the ONLY official place this was EVER released), the version here is the best quality I've heard.

  • By the way guys, it's Snowy White on the lead guitar, not David Gilmore...and it is awesome. I've had this version on US 8-track Tape (only place it was ever released) since it came out in '77. Thanks for posting this much-improved sounding version of it!

  • @agentfiftyseven1

If David Gilmour (it's not "Gilmore," I am very peevish about this) would have left pink Floyd for any reason, White would have been an ideal substitute. He is an amazing guitarist, who plays his solos with lots (!) of feeling, as much as Gilmour. He "gets" it.

  • I just realized this is note for note, exactly the same as "Mother".

  • @cypresscoach The opening chords are the same but it's not exactly the same. Both songs begin with a G chord but the rhythm and chord changes are different.

  • I dedicate this listening to Holly...

  • wheres this solo come from? i never new this song had a version with a solo , can some one explain please lol.

  • @ziggyonthemoon I am sure someone else has explained herein, but, for the sake of simplicity: due to limitations in the format, the 8-track version of "Animals" had the songs a different order than LP and, later, cd. For 8-Track, the two version of POTW were connected together as one track as heard here. If I recall, the guitar solo is by Snowy White, not Gilmour. Still, very nice.

  • @crusteous ah thanks! its a shame they omitted this from cd.

  • best Floyd album easily

  • Pink Floyd, Live in Oakland 1977 3-disc, 2CD/DVD set, Pink Floyd, The Wall Live at Earl's Court 1980 DVD available at Tommygun VIdeo website, link, audio/video clips can be found on our youtube channel

  • 23 People are pigs on the wing

  • @zsacapala Do you even know what that phrase means?

  • @omega4104 I think so

  • @zsacapala It means that if two people didn't care for each other, they would be miserable. Hoping for some reason that they should be together. A perfect sign would be "when pigs fly." Or "Pigs on the wing"

If anything, pigs on the wing are a good thing in the song, and saying that everyone who disliked a song is a pig on the wing discredits the song as much as it credits them.

  • @omega4104 Ok thank you for the explanation and i´m sorry ja

  • Davids tones on this album where outstanding

  • WERE CAN I GET THIS ITS NOT ON THE VINYL WOW AMAZING

  • Hi folks Snowy was not from Deep purple he was with Thin Lizzy .He has played rhythm guitar with pink Floyd many time live the wall tour and div bell tour he also played on Richard wrights and several of Roger Waters solo albums and played rhythm with roger on his tours.

  • that solo :)

  • ....Eargasim....

  • Man,I really like this song.

  • Pink Floyd, Live in Oakland 1977 3-disc 2CD/DVD set, Pink Floyd, The Wall Live at Earl's Court 1980 DVD available at Tommygun Video, please see youtube channel for link, video/audio clips, more info

  • Snowy White played the solo again for a compilation album as he had played a solo for the 8 track cartridge version to bridge the gap

  • If Syd Barrett were still alive, I'd sit and listen and ponder all his amazing thoughts and philosophies. I don't give a fuck if he was "insane". He will live on forever.

  • @IndieRokker6 i hear you man. just picked up his latest biography. i dont think he had much to do aside from influence with this song, tho

  • I've never heard this version. Thank you!

  • 22 people voted to put pigs like george bush on the wing

  • @nonesta13 u r dum

  • @spencexxx you cant even spell..

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah... Wow.. Thought I'd heard it all...

  • We're not really ... all that different now are we ... ;^)

  • ........mind=blown

  • 21 PIECE OF SHIT PIGS!

  • everyone fights about gilmour/waters...

    simple:

    waters - brilliant song-writer

gilmour - gave the music a soul, and GREAT singer and guitarist

wright - made things wonderfully coherent and magical

    mason - fuck yeah drums

    and i miss barrett :(

  • @waterbagel sid was all of that...

  • @waterbagel More people fight about Gilmour and Barrett than Gilmour and Waters

  • @waterbagel

Snowy White - very great solo.

  • @waterbagel OMG!!! THAT IS THE MOST COHERENT COMMENT I'VE EVER SEEN

  • Pink Floyd without Barrett is more like Beatles without Pete Best.

  • @GenesisKnights Yes, agreed. Totally overrated.

  • @FatmanCaufield Actually what I said was pretty pathetic I take it back. Syd Barrett's work was amazing, having listened to his solo work I understand what he could've become had he not been a fool. :-)

  • Wow! I'd never heard this version before. Thanks for posting it.

  • that solo should have been on the album

  • this version was released only on a cassete version of animals.

and by the way,the solo is not by the gilmour but by snowy white (a second guitarist for pink floyd shows and nowadays a guitarist for roger waters)

  • @k0stil But who wrote the solo.? Snowy or Dave? Cuz it's the best part of the song. I bet Roger is the one that cut it from the Animals album.

  • @fuzpuppy

i think its snowy who wrote the solo,

otherwise if you write the solo ,why would you want somebody else to play it???

nobody cut it from the album!

i think pink floyd liked both version and they thought that it would be a good idea to release one version on LP and another version on a 8-track.

the full version was also released on snowy white`s "goldtop" compilation album

  • @k0stil thnx for your answer!!

  • my song better type in (u fucked me hard)

  • aszxc

  • Pink Floyd always gives me the goosebumps.

  • Thumbs up for pink floyd!

  • The world is a better place with Pink Floyd in it

  • bernardmmarx- see what I mean, you're having to find one of only a few good songs while with Barrett, but damn!! that is a good song

  • were can i find this full version...???

  • @crtzrs on the album animals

  • @iamthechanceman i have the album but its not with this guitar solo 1:16

    tnx!!!!

  • I love David Gilmour, but Snowy White does this solo. It's from the 8-Track version of Animals

  • @agentmouthwash - 8 Track, that explains it..........slightly before my time; but not long enough for me not to know what an 8 track is, unfortunately

  • oops, meant bigboimlp; no disrespect!!

  • nigboimlp - oh hell yeah!!

  • americaxskater11- again; Syd Barret was the influence, he led them in that direction, but recording wise he wasn't around when they made LISTENABLE music

  • @envade2 Wrong-Arnold Layne!

The song's title character is a transvestite whose primary pastime is stealing women's clothes and undergarments from washing lines. According to Roger Waters, "Arnold Layne" was actually based on a real person. Waters: "Both my mother and Syd's mother had students as lodgers because there was a girls' college up the road so there were constantly great lines of bras and knickers on our washing lines and 'Arnold' or whoever he was, had bits off our washing lines."

  • @envade2 dude, are you saying that Piper at the gates of dawn isn't listenable?

  • rockwillnerverdie; i don't wanna start comparing any of the beatles to anyone in pink floyd, or vice versa, gilmour is bad ass!! I only made the comparison between waters & lennon because the song that sparked the waters conversation was written & is sung by waters!

  • doodoobootycrap

Barrett was a huge part, but it was after Barrett was (dropped) gone that they became what they became. I'm not downplaying barrettes leadership at all,

listen to their music before & after.

    FAG!!

  • if you dont think that waters is a huge part of pink floyd than you must have never listened to the lyrics of a pink floyd song

  • Absolutely adore this full version, I'm such a huge floyd fan an was really pleased to hear this existed.

  • Pink Floyd without Waters is like The Beatles without Lennon!!

  • @envade2 Pink Floyd without Barret is like The Beatles without balls

  • @envade2 correction: Pink floyd without BARRETT is like The Beatles without Lennon

  • @DoodooRandyBootyclap they couldn´t START without him, but they couldn´t CONTINUE with him, barret was good por the beginning, but waters was better, you only have to listen dark side of the moon, but also Syd helped for the water´s comotitions, he was important but not the most important, thats all I think

  • @envade2 im gay

  • @envade2 correction: Pink Floyd without BARRETT is like The Beatles without Lennon

  • @envade2 And I think that if it was without Gilmour, We could compare the Beatles without Paul McCartney!!!!

  • @envade2 More like without syd barrett.

  • @envade2 Can we please not argue. . .let's just say Pink Floyd without Gilmour is like a man without a penis.

  • @envade2 Great point!

  • @envade2 Less douchey and self important, but lyrically lost? Agreed

  • @envade2 no no no, you're doing it wrong. You're supposed to say: "The Floyd without Wright is like The Beatles without Lennon." Let's not forget his creative genius .

  • @envade2 luckily waters hasnt been shot and he isnt some hippy asshole

  • @envade2 what about the division bell?

    fuck waters.

this is my favorite band, but waters isnt THAT good.

  • @ThePopsheep waters is'nt THAT good? he isn't THAT bad either gilmour is a fantastic guitarist but as a songwriter he just can't cut it i'm afraid. i mean he even got his wife to write songs for the division bell

  • @outfirstball yeah, he is a good songwriter, but i hate that he is SO self-indulgant! he acts as if he's the global center of attention, and i just hate that.

  • @ThePopsheep i have to agree he is egotistical but that doesn't stop me loving his work a bit like bono really he's very much the same but i still love u2's work. i choose to see through the man and just cherish his genius
