i know this is a late response but if someone could please answer me this i have owned a male red eared slider for almost 6 years know and i've never put him into deep water before only water up to its shell, would he be able to adept to going into deep water or is it a bad idea know?
@AllAboutTheInternet All turtles know how to swim in deep water by instinct, and it will benefit your turtle if you put more water because it will be less stress on the legs. Turtles are supposed to live in deep water. So please do add the deep water as your turtle will live a long time and benefit from it =]
shell cream is bad. Your turtle shell is shedding so its completely normal and healthy. Shell cream however blocks out ventilation and after awhile it might cause problem with shedding
freaky, i have two ponds like this one. one being a turtle pond and the other a turtle pond. The shell needs to get a treatment of zoo med antibiotic powder that you buy for around 9 bucks and then ad powder in bucket with water. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. leave the turtle in there for 1 full hour. this is what i did when it happened to mine. I also bought it some antibacterial turtle food at petsmart.
The video quality is bad, sadly, and I can't quite make out the shell. If there are glittery parts on the shell, this is a stage where Tammy will begin to shed off spare scutes (the different sections) of her shell. Similar to when a snake or lizard sheds its skin, if you will.
Since it's outside, and I cant see very well on the video, I don't know what the white thing is. If its cotton-like or wooly, take it to a vet. Also, I've kept RES's for five years, and Tammy is a boy. : p
if its dry that may be from her basking i think u should take her to a local pet store they know the animals and you wont have to spend alot of money on a theory
Shell looks fine, looks like she's just molting a bit. If she's used to people holding her, you might be able to scratch he shell a bit. My 'slider loved having his shell scratched.
yeah, that's bigger. The pool for my 5 turtles that I used is just a 'day spa'. They only go in it on hot sunny days. Otherwise they love their tank in the house. Tammi looks like she needs a friend--lol. have fun

Take it to the vet in any case, just to make sure. Never hurts to be careful.

It could just be mineral build up. If she has a healthy diet with plenty of sun and bask area...you shouldnt be worried.
