1 - Penn was gassed after the first ROUND, not first take down.
2 - Penn couldn't HOLD a high guard because he was too gassed and didn't have the POWER to do so.
Penn is known for his rubber guard, problem was GSP was too strong and simply wouldn't allow it, coupled with a weak Penn.
My point was more about the grease. GSP attempted to take Penn down in round 1, but he couldn't. But GSP still pushed the pace, which is why Penn was gassed in the 2nd.

As for not knowing what a guard is, it's simply laughable. I work with MMA fighters on game plans for their fights. I am not a fighter (never been in a ring/cage) myself. But I know a whole hell of a lot about game plans and tactics.
GSP's was perfect for a small, unconditioned Penn. Penn's BJJ was something I was worried about, but GSP's plans usually attack his opponents strengths. Kos was out wrestled, Penn was beat on the ground. It's what GSP does.

As for Penn, man, the guy is notorious for being out of shape, the ONLY fights where he is actually in shape are at 155, because he actually has to train to get there. He likely walks around at 175, maybe less. Which is why he doesn't work as hard to get into shape for a 170 fight. Which is why is was gassed so quickly.
