I didn't even think the gun would continue to shoot without the guide rod! I mean in every gun, I woulda thought that would be a catastrophic failure of the gun! I mean that would be like a engine loosing all of it's connecting rods and continuing to run. Man I'm glad I got a G23 for my carry weapon
I've recently become a gun enthusiast and I've been researching what make and models and good (for the buck lol). I went to a local shooting range in Torrance, CA and I was advised that the Glock 19 was a great gun. From the first moment that I fired it, I was hooked! Since then, I have been reviewing the gun via Internet, YouTube, word of mouth etc... I've yet to come across any major negative comments that have put me off on purchasing my fist Glock. Id like to thank the poster of this video
It's whatever!! I do not like glocks by any mean, but I have to give it credit for still running when the guide rod fell out. Good job!! But I still prefer my SIG over the glock any day.
So glad I have the few I have - absolutely the best all around guns in my meager collection - even the expensive shotguns, the Glocks are just amazing in how they "just work"
Awesome video! And you have to give credit due to Glock for making a gun that can stay in the fight even after the guide rod melted. How hot do you think that barrel and slide get? I was not to crazy about Glock's plastic guide rods, but I have a different opinion now about these guns overall. After all, they set the standard on polymer handguns. Not the precedent, the first ones came from H&K. Kudos to you and your crew!
Great video - thanks for sharing. I must say that my Glock 17c has never once jammed in the 3 years I've been shooting it. And that's with cheap target ammo!
Nice! Just bought a G23, and am very happy with it. Very impressive it shot even after the guide rod melted. Just goes to show you that Glocks are work horses!
im so glad that glock put a metal guide rode in the 4 gen because i was getting tired of replacing my guide rode when i go out and shoot 1000 rounds at the range............. hahaha
ive owned nothing but glocks the entire time ive been carrying a gun. true ruggedness, proven durability, strong, reliable........the best handgun on the market in the world
AWESOME VIDEO! I tried to melt the guide rod, in my glock 23 a few months ago. Melted my debit card on ammo instead! Great video! I've had my block for almost 8 years, and have not had a single prob!
wow hard core shit right there. lol no one would ever have that amount of ammo to burn through in one session like that so i think its pretty safe to say that for the 5 to 6 hundred dollar mark in self defense pistols the glock pretty much has it all to it self. i own a gen4 19 and its a good shooting gun my wife shoots excellent with and so do i right out of the box nice little gun. for the money i spent on it and the piece of mind iit brings to the table it can't be beat imho. awesome vid.
cool video but LOL @ anyone caring that their guide rod melts after 1000 rds. You will NEVER have to fire 1000 rds in such quick succession. If you are in a gunfight and need that many rds, then god help you. Also, if your enemy cant kill you before getting off 1000 rds, god help HIM!
great video though. Cool to see these gimmicky things and how they play out. Looks like I will be getting a Glock 19 soon!!
@JamesYeager do the glocks have a polymer guide rod? im not much into glocks myself and im curious but 900 rounds in a row is very impressive for a factory gun. im sure an aftermarket guide rod wouldnt have done that altho its not needed to fire the pistol it helps accuracy
@JamesYeager I suppose there are guns that this wouldn't have happened to, but you're right, it's basically impossible for a situation like this to happen in a real gunfight.
@guncrazy143 it was still firing after the fact that the rod melted off and your dissapointed ?really thats 1000 rounds with no rest for the glock im happy with my glock , this video is showing me that my glock wont fail.
@guncrazy143 Seriously ? i am a owner of a P220, Kimber CDP II custom and a Glock 19, under what freaking circumstance will you ever fire this many rounds consecutively?
@JamesYeager Hi point C-9s AFTER 200 plus rounds have been put through them are decently reliable FOR THE MONEY YOU PAY. That being said however, being a glock owner and enthusiast, the extra money for a glock is WELL WORTH IT, and they are certainly in my opinion more reliable. As you said where is his video?
@JamesYeager haha owned. great vid, Videos like this and hickok45 made me want a glock and I am so happy I got it. You just cant go wrong with glocks.
great vid man!! but i will have to say that you may have limp wrested when u got those jams. my glock jammed for the first time in 5 years the other day and i too have put many rounds through it. and this was duty ammo not the cheap stuff. it was my fault because i had shot so much my hand got tired and i limped it. great vid !!
And people say a 9mm wont put a big enough hole in a person to stop them I think your target proved them wrong lol. Very interesting test, Ill keep trusting my life to my Glock. great shooting to both of you!
Glock changed their guide rods shortly after this was done mostly because of this video. It's now made of a different material that has a higher melting point. You can fire one full auto and get the frame to start drooping from being so hot, but the guide rod was intact (I work for an 07 FFL that pays the SOT so we have access to fun toys at times).
Very cool video..... I guess if I had the money i'd put a metal guide rod in my glock, but I don't plan on shooting it to the point where the rod is gonna melt. Glocks are great guns and I plan on getting another one.
Great video. I'm not sure how someone could say you're hiding any malfunctions when you specifically dealt with them as they happened and then mentioned it at the end. And, if I was filming a video and everybody decided to start making noise before we were finished, I'd say, "Shut up," too!
One question, which I hope is not stupid. Were you using your trigger finger to drop the mags or just pressing it into the frame to give your thumb leverage?
@Sgtrambom60 Coorect me if i'm wrong but i'm 99.9% sure they USMC and Army use the beretta M9 not glock if an person in either service has a glock it's their personal handgun not the standard issue
great video... i was thinking of getting a glock 19 to add to the collection... i think i will after this video... only i may invest in a steel guide rod.... thanks again dude..
Much respect to the Glock 19. 1000 rnds, ruined, then lost guide rod and it kept shooting. I observed 4 remedial actions. They aren't perfect, but they are trustworthy.
Interesting, i always thought the recoil spring would immediatly bind up once the guide rod broke, guess not. also, for all the comment discussion, glocks do have a slide release, but it is very small and not designed for use while firing.
wow thats what i like 2 see i cary one every day and i trust it will be their when i need it oh me and my friends torture tested an ak47 and the wood started smoldering and finaly cought fire it took 3000 rounds but it was kinda cool
dont worry dude people on here are just pissy, they set behind there computers and scream i can do better but none has the guts to put it on film. or get off the couch for that matter. That was a good testament to GLOCK! Rock on. "oh and your right None of them would say anything to your face."
Hey man, great vid. I also have a Glock 19 that I love with a passion and im glad to see someone beat the shit out of theres ;) Quick question: Were you using the factory Glock magazines because i noticed that when I use KCI or those crappy korean ones that they tend to make my glock malfunction in weird ways where as the factory mags have never caused a problem in my gun.Just Wondering? And by the way, dont listen to these assholes on here.
WOW! I have heard of Glock torture tests, but never actually saw one till now. I also carry the Glock 19 and will never put anywhere near this amount of ammunition through mine, in that time frame. I was reading through the comments and see that some people are just complete idiots. I agree with you, none of these asswipes would say one word to your face. Do you ever offer classes in PA? I would love to attend. Thanks for posting this video, along with all of your other videos.
@mesa401 - Okay the whole "hey guys shut up" is a little over played and you don't personally know his relationship with these fellows.. Many of my friends I say crazy rude shit to but I know them and some people would take offense that didn't know the relationship. To the poster, if I really felt offended by this I would say something to your face but I am very laid back and this isn't a big deal, I'm surprised so many brought this up. What's society coming to ? haha bunch of vagina's i guess
And this is why Glocks are called "perfection". Because when the shit hits the fan, you need a gun that will deliver. I question if ANY other gun can withstand something like this.
@JamesYeager i call bullshit, 10.7 bodyfat my ass, you have more than 22.5 pounds of fat, besides if you were ever in a actual tactical response you would be so winded by the time you entered the door, just because you can shoot does not mean you can last in a firefight, it takes strength, conditioning, and a cool head, which by reading some of your comments you are obviously lacking in that field
This is exactly why I will get a Glock if I want a Pistol to put my life on. I love USP's but if I need to really depend on a pistol, It'll be a Glock(17 to be precise)
mr. james yeager. I enjoyed your comments. especially when you called someone a "cock holster." lol. try throwing around meat gazer, peach scented douche, cum guzzler, red rocket, etc. and see how they hold up in daily life battles.
Wow, people are bitching because the vid poster isn't a kissass about his profession? Fuck the rest of you all, I don't care what this guys attitude is, I'd still attend his classes.
Amazing video. I don't know if my 1911 would be able to handle it, or if I could find 100 ten rounders for it. Might melt my pachmyers! lol
Damn i heard of reliability from glocks but never really seen it, seen some guy that buried his 21 for 2 years and fired it, that was awesome but firing till failure? mabe next time you can have a quinch bucket and really torture test it 2000-5000+ rounds who knows? would the quenching of the really hard slide crack deform under rapid cooling? other then what was shown I think i can safely put my life on a glock :)
Hello Mr. Yeager. I just finished watching Fighting Pistol and you can consider my mind blown. After watching this video I was wondering if you care to mention how many G19's you have worn out in the time you have been running them and also what eventually requires them to be taken out of service if at all?
dude that was a good video some times i think was glock 19 better choice then my glock 23 let me tall you after like 60 to 100 rounds thru my G23 i start missing the target !! also i think there is steel guide rod but to me i am happy with my polymer rod !!
now that is amazing. Any other inadvertent effects show themselves at a later date?
Considering the diameter of the smaller springs, and their proximety to, or even direct contact with, the slide, any chance of them getting so hot during such a test that they will lose their temper or anything? also, plastic bits on and inside the slide, anything melt?
Just watched this remembering watching it live. Yeah folks, som of the best firearms training available is in Camden TN. The couple pf times that I have been able to participate. The cadre has offered anyone their money back if they didn't feel they got value for their investment... No takers ever...GM See you guys this spring...
nice video, im a recent glock convert and this just reinforces my choice. being a .45 snob i went with the g21sf and love it. and why are so many people butt hurt that Mr Yeager answers assholes back in the same way they address him. it makes me want to take his class more when i see he wont roll over and act like a pussy when confronted. Hes not a charm school teacher after all. if you want polite, go to starbucks.
He is mean? Because he told everyone to shutup? I don't guess you ever played any sort of competitive sport in your life... coaches would of made you cry.
As for the video. Great video. Just another testament on what a Glock can do/go through. I have a 19 and a 26. Love both of them.
I actually do have 65 loaded mags, but I'm still not particularly worried about it as it seems to function just fine anyway. :P
I used to have 3 police academy G17's with cracked slides, they'd had probably somewhere around 100-150k rounds through them, and the only thing they did was shoot to the left because of the cracked slides. Sent them back to glock and got brand new 3rd gen refurb 17's. :)
@Otacon237 you can get the tungsten one but the reality is that you may never need to shot like that, I replaced anyways when I find it like a year ago
Very impressive....wow!....only one question...where did you get all those damn mags...haha wow...they can get pretty steep in price....dang...good thing you didn't have a subcompact...haha
why all the absurd language? are we not more intelligent?
anyhow the reason you gun stove piped only while you were shooting is because....
you guessed it you were limp wristing it..
this thing should've never jammed.. perhaps you outta remove the idiots comments who keep cussing and leave this open to those of us with kids looking over our shoulder while watching the video.......... gotta love 'em glocks
Care to detail how reading 'cuss words' ever managed to harm anyone? let alone a 'child'?
You can't, because it hasn't. They're gonna grow up using the odd 'cuss word' as adults, so what is the point in keeping them from seeing or hearing them?
I swear, idiots like yourself make me ashamed to be human.
Mr. Yeager is an accomplished firearms instructor. Anyone who thinks they can do better or offer better training to law enforcement or to civilians who are very serious about defensive firearm instruction,.. go right ahead.
I'll tell anyone of you mouthbreathers to put your money where your mouth is or STFU!

And by the way, dont listen to these assholes on here.
Gunfreak513 1 year ago
@Gunfreak513 - I only use factory parts.

If it was a 1911, the guide rod would not have fallen out.
isamtator 1 year ago
John Browning's 1911 didn't have a guide rod.
JamesYeager 1 year ago
@isamtator
...whats your point?
pvtsnoballz 1 year ago
Thanks for posting this video, along with all of your other videos.
glynn72 1 year ago
@glynn72 Thanks dude. We do classes in PA and should have some in Muncy in 2011. We also plan on being in near Winchester VA if that works for you.

You now join the ranks of the rest of the internet cowards that won"t say anything to my face.
JamesYeager 1 year ago
@mesa401 - Okay the whole "hey guys shut up" is a little over played and you don't personally know his relationship with these fellows.. Many of my friends I say crazy rude shit to but I know them and some people would take offense that didn't know the relationship. To the poster, if I really felt offended by this I would say something to your face but I am very laid back and this isn't a big deal, I'm surprised so many brought this up. What's society coming to ? haha bunch of vagina's i guess

James I have 2 questions:
1) Whenever you cocked the gun with a new magazine you pulled the slide back instead of pressing the slide release. Why?
2) How far was the target?
Great video by the way.
danielblanccogan 1 year ago
1. Glock has no slide release. This is discussed at length here. Just read on.
2. About 20 feet.
Thanks!
JamesYeager 1 year ago
1. Glocks do not have a slide release. Please read through these posts to see the discussion.
2. Not sure exactly. Maybe 20 feet or so.

the guide rod can fall out and the gun can still save your life, good gun

jrsaw27 1 year ago
And this is why Glocks are called "perfection". Because when the shit hits the fan, you need a gun that will deliver. I question if ANY other gun can withstand something like this.
zulu45 1 year ago
LOL!! I wish they let me do the test. My trigger finger would be so happy that it would just cum all over the places.

JamesYeager 1 year ago
@JamesYeager i call bullshit, 10.7 bodyfat my ass, you have more than 22.5 pounds of fat, besides if you were ever in a actual tactical response you would be so winded by the time you entered the door, just because you can shoot does not mean you can last in a firefight, it takes strength, conditioning, and a cool head, which by reading some of your comments you are obviously lacking in that field

The most current pictures of me are on my FaceBook page. Look my up.
In addition to that I have been a SWAT cop and a Civilian Contractor and have traded bullets more than once.

1000 rounds, but how damaged was the gun afterward (besides the rod) that's what I would like to know.
beast6228 1 year ago
No damage at all.
JamesYeager 1 year ago
Wow, people are bitching because the vid poster isn't a kissass about his profession? Fuck the rest of you all, I don't care what this guys attitude is, I'd still attend his classes.
Amazing video. I don't know if my 1911 would be able to handle it, or if I could find 100 ten rounders for it. Might melt my pachmyers! lol

The guide rod fails and the thing still runs. Glock reliability proven... Again.
huskydawg07 1 year ago
Damn i heard of reliability from glocks but never really seen it, seen some guy that buried his 21 for 2 years and fired it, that was awesome but firing till failure? mabe next time you can have a quinch bucket and really torture test it 2000-5000+ rounds who knows? would the quenching of the really hard slide crack deform under rapid cooling? other then what was shown I think i can safely put my life on a glock :)
Energi2DmaxX 1 year ago
Hello Mr. Yeager. I just finished watching Fighting Pistol and you can consider my mind blown. After watching this video I was wondering if you care to mention how many G19's you have worn out in the time you have been running them and also what eventually requires them to be taken out of service if at all?
theshawner 1 year ago
I have never worn out a Glock.
JamesYeager 1 year ago
dude that was a good video some times i think was glock 19 better choice then my glock 23 let me tall you after like 60 to 100 rounds thru my G23 i start missing the target !! also i think there is steel guide rod but to me i am happy with my polymer rod !!
sargon08 1 year ago
that is why i own one!!!! Didn't even like them before!

notorious3483 1 year ago
now that is amazing. Any other inadvertent effects show themselves at a later date?
Considering the diameter of the smaller springs, and their proximety to, or even direct contact with, the slide, any chance of them getting so hot during such a test that they will lose their temper or anything? also, plastic bits on and inside the slide, anything melt?

nice video, im a recent glock convert and this just reinforces my choice. being a .45 snob i went with the g21sf and love it. and why are so many people butt hurt that Mr Yeager answers assholes back in the same way they address him. it makes me want to take his class more when i see he wont roll over and act like a pussy when confronted. Hes not a charm school teacher after all. if you want polite, go to starbucks.

you´re video is a good prove that the glock19 is a good handgun but you are very mean... I wouldn´t participate in your classes... 1 Star.

He is mean? Because he told everyone to shutup? I don't guess you ever played any sort of competitive sport in your life... coaches would of made you cry.
As for the video. Great video. Just another testament on what a Glock can do/go through. I have a 19 and a 26. Love both of them.

Do you have 65 loaded mags? Ready for a zombie attack? If not do not worry about it.
JamesYeager 2 years ago
I actually do have 65 loaded mags, but I'm still not particularly worried about it as it seems to function just fine anyway. :P
I used to have 3 police academy G17's with cracked slides, they'd had probably somewhere around 100-150k rounds through them, and the only thing they did was shoot to the left because of the cracked slides. Sent them back to glock and got brand new 3rd gen refurb 17's. :)
GLOCK RULES!

@Otacon237 you can get the tungsten one but the reality is that you may never need to shot like that, I replaced anyways when I find it like a year ago

I want a Glock, and this video only cements this feeling. What a hell of a firearm!
You put it through all that crap, and the part that fails isn't even required for the gun to function still!
I know this video is old, but thanks for making it.
MikeReiner 2 years ago
Very impressive....wow!....only one question...where did you get all those damn mags...haha wow...they can get pretty steep in price....dang...good thing you didn't have a subcompact...haha

I borrowed many of them from the folks hanging out in the video.

why all the absurd language? are we not more intelligent?
anyhow the reason you gun stove piped only while you were shooting is because....
you guessed it you were limp wristing it..
this thing should've never jammed.. perhaps you outta remove the idiots comments who keep cussing and leave this open to those of us with kids looking over our shoulder while watching the video.......... gotta love 'em glocks

Care to detail how reading 'cuss words' ever managed to harm anyone? let alone a 'child'?
You can't, because it hasn't. They're gonna grow up using the odd 'cuss word' as adults, so what is the point in keeping them from seeing or hearing them?
