The Roxy! Man that was the place. Big Up' s to Grand Wizard DST, Infinity Rappers, Jazzy Jay, Africa BamBaataa, KLB Productions, FOR ALL YA'LL FOOLS WHO DON'T KNOW!, Rock Steady Crew, AND STEVE, LMFAO
FOR ALL YA'LL THAT DON'T KNOW..STEVE WAS THE OWNER OF THE ROCKA TRON...LOL
Bill Laswell who produced and programmed perhaps the music is a famous jazz bassist and an all time music producer of world music/electronic/fusion and is known for
his famed Praxis project along with free jazz great, John Zorn. He's also worked with Billy Cobham, Herbie Hancock, free jazz pionneer Pharoah Sanders, tabla genius Zakir Hussein and the Joujouka musicians of Morrocco. It's so awesome to see that his presence was felt in hip hop as well.
@borchabronx haha, well just out of curiosity, what makes you say that? just curious. I too am not a fan of Bill's work, but I do nonetheless appreciate his contributions. So please elaborate if you don't mind. Ok, take care.
I think he's creative and all dat but durin his time he made much more plastic music trying to be creative, all-encompassive etc, he just should keep it simple, like here
@borchabronx Thanks for elaborating on your previous comment. Well I have to say that I agree with you, and that much of Bill's music hasn't really done anything for me as well. In fact there isn't a song from that period of his that I can honestly remember or care to remember. Bill in my opinion wasn't really a good composer to begin with. But he did have good ideas, and knew how to get the right folks to work with on his projects. But for me composition is essential to make music that lasts.
exactly man I mean he tried like 40 projects, combining every single genre that he came across in his life, yet his production work remains by far the most significant thing he has done in music.
yes i know i have the record the french girl is B-SIDE she was down with material afrika bambaata and time zone if you collect : phase II-the roxy grandmixer D.S.T.cut it up time zone-the wildstyle futura 2000-escapades fab 5 freddy-change the beat and put them next to eachother you have a artwork from futura on the backsides
