just go to multiplayer and search for a game. i also have quake 2 for the pc and i play online with my brother all the time. you may not find any 1 online though because its such an old game. But if you see blade007 or Th3 afr0 ninja online thats me and/or my brother.

I know this is a late reply, but if you just got the game I believe that you have to hunt down a patch for the game.

Also, Xfire, and Gamespy Arcade/Comrade support Quake II, and make it easy to find servers to play on.
