hehehe so insanely cute, i love how they scratch their head with their back foot over their wing, lol just like a dog, so funny. i just saw what might be either one of these guys or a purple finch and im havin such a hard time right now figuring it out, cause usually i just see a house finch but the one i just saw seemed a little different than usual and its song was a little different than the house finch song that ive had engrained in my head since childhood.
Last spring, I saw two black birds (the one with that blue shimmer) fucking the shit out of eachother on the nature path and two American robins doing it right on the sidewalk where all the kids could see. Lol!!
Did you know? Birds and wild critters are said to begin mating on St. Valentine's Day?
I love the H.Finch SO much! They build nests on a special place I provide HIGH up on my porch, with no chance of a sqirrel, or raccoon jumping to rob the nests.
I've had the most wonderful experiences with the House Finch. they LOVe TO COMMUNE with humans. THAT is why they got their name. Love 'em!
They must all have soogs that are unique to just the one bird. I've got a purple finch who regularly visits, but his song is a different combination of those sounds.

i found a bald eagle dead on the side of the road coming home from mcdonalds yesterday, i put it in a big trash bag, wat should i do with it? im thinkin of trying to get his big beak off somehow? any ideas??
Watching wild birds compete for territory/a mate is a wonderful sight. It's important as members of nature ourselves to avoid distracting or interfering with these birds.
Finches are a beautiful addition to the scenery of any forest or backyard!
We had these finches in PA where I grew up along with Purple Finches. Now that I live in Arizona, they are just as numerous out here. I absolutely love to hear the happy song of a House Finch!
now thats a real finch mi-ester

@blueskiesblue every spring we had a hanging fucshia plant and every year, the housefinch would make a nest, lay her eggs and hatch her chicks in it

Pluck the feathers for you headdress first. Then I heard that if you put it in the freezer the beak will be easier to pry off.

Make sure you wear the headdress into a USFW office...

What's a finch? It looks like a small sparrow to me, or a hamster with a beak. :P
