aaaahhhh come on fellaz. just take a look a the bass player. he plays almost always muted fingerstyle during the solo. absolutely not agressively. and the mix is just right. i would usually expect less from a shitty club cellphone vid.
It wasn't tasteless. Hearing something taped live is a lot different from hearing it live. Most people for some reason can't decipher the difference. Sounds great.
"The problem with the bass player is he walks all over Randy Brecker's solo."
I didn't hear him walking at all. Ha ha ha (sorry couldn't help myself). I think the problem you're hearing is about the mix, the bass is a bit high. What he was actually playing didn't sound intrusive or tasteless to me.
We are all going to miss you ...it is a totally SAD day in the jazz world. I'll always remember the great NYC gig's in the 80's at Fat Tuesdays, 7th Ave, Mikells and Chicago Blues! You made so MANY people happy with your music and style and sense of humor.
how many CDs have you sold? Oh, and how many World Tours have you headlined? No offense intended but we're just curious."
Britney Spears has every jazz guy beat on this, but that obviously has nothing to do with her musicianship, (or lack thereof). Let's not use the popularity argument. It doesn't make any sense. I can say with a good deal of certainty that I am "better" than several people out there touring and making records, yet you've never heard of me. I'm just saying.
yea great guitar guy Hiram...kinda fading out a bit these days eh? missing the wow factor as you stateside people say. Nothing like the man from the older days
He's still great, this isn't the best example of the great music and great guitar playing, (in a healthy, very clever anti guitar hero perspective),he's able to provide, and yeah I love Hiram Bullock from the old days, and the one now, fat, a little way out.
listen to the last albums, nice arrangements, great grooves, a lot of sofistication going on, jazz/blues/rock knowledge, that funk stuff he allways talks about, and a couple of tasty guitar solos, he sounds really good.
The bass player isn't copping from anybody, he's dooing his job, maybe this isn't the best exemple of what Hiram Bullock can do, there's a lot of joke gooin' on, and that's music played live, taking (a lot of) chances!
I wonder if you really love music...I guess not, you have a very preconceived atittude!
No offense intended . Hiram is one of the greats I agree. Let's just say he is a little different from the high flying 80's. And that last cd...yaow ! bad. Nothing compared to "From All Sides" or "Color Me' or even "Way Kool". I'm a big fan. The video clip just didn't do anything for me.
The bass player thought he was doing something hip.

R.I.P., Hiram. You will never be forgotten. Your musicianship and personality are part of the reason I used to tune into "Night Music" in the '90s.

The problem with the bass player is he walks all over Randy Brecker's solo. Someone should talk to him about stage etiquette.

Not that it matters, but what was his cause of death? He was very young to go out like that.

who's Randy Brecker copping, King Kong?
softspoken33 4 years ago
I'd say thing only thing he has in common with Jaco here is a big fat burpy bridge pickup tone.
