Earthsiege, Starsiege, both great games and 2 of the best. I don't have a personal favorite between the 2. Earthsiege's destruction physics: Better. Starsiege's gameplay: A bit more fun.

You know, i played this game partly and i played Earthsiege and Earthsiege 2 beforehand, and this story nearly made me kick in my computer screen. I mean, what the FUCK, i annihilated Prometheus when i landed on luna sektor and destroyed him with my squad didn't i? Then this crap comes with all the different factions and isn't like earthsiege at all and abused the plot from earthsiege for it. I really DID play Starsiege...but...sorry, i just think it sucked compared to Earthsiege.
I agree, although I thought the creators of starsiege did a good job with the back story. Starsiege is a travesty of Earthsiege.. Earthsige was the greatest and Starsiege, although fun to play, was a let-down.
Yeah, i remember getting demos for Starsiege and after playing Earthsiege I was hyped as all hell. It looked really cool at first but then it all came as it did come with the story andso on...Damn, at least I think they didn't fuck up General Gierling, he was the most badass general there is "That mission was a complete disaster, WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON ANYWAY?!". I guess Starsiege was rly all you could expect after the epic Earthsiege series.
Man great game but there was so much that still could have been done. There is so much backstory and with the way it ended there could have definetly been a sequel. Why did they have to cancel the sequel i believe they would have been great. I am in school for graphics and game design i wish when i am done with it i could make a sequel myself.
Starsiege was a great game, though what i loved the most about it is that it came with a colored booklet telling the whole story of the earthsieges up until starsiege..and it wasnt like 2 paragraphs like all the games are now..it was a whole damn book...200+ pages...and it came free with your game....

awesome stuff. pity they left the starsiege universe to modders now. Ofc I don't mean they can't do a good job, it just feels a tad... abandoned. shame on sierra.
And even the modders gave up on the Starsiege community ... I don't quite blame them, given how Vivendi-Universal treated them, but ... They accomplished so much, and it eems like they ultimately threw it all way because their work would no longer look "fresh and contemporary."
I say: Who the hell cares about "contemporary?!" The developer shots looked great to me! Besides, indie games with less sophisticated graphics have done extremely well. Just look at Cave Story!

As for money... back in the day when it was 'new' I couldn't afford it (or any game, for that matter. Sad times). I only came to the series years after the table was cleaned.
@Gothos - I came in late too. I was told stories (or possibly exaggerations) of multiple, full 255 servers.
Back in the baby games of PC gaming. I think the voice acting and graphics are really cutting edge. I have showed a few of my friends from University about this game, and they do not even believe it is from '98.
Of course, it is impossible for Starsiege to compete with games like Modern Warfare II, et cetera. I have half a mind to start playing again, but I imagine there are only.
