It is clear from so many comments here that most even dont know what the heck this incident is about??? Polish Governmnet offered a respectable ceasfire in East Pakistan; but that clashed with Bhutto's sinister plans to divide and rule : "Audhar Tum Edhare Hum". It was indeed Bhutto's own plan to prolong the war in East Pakistan which can lead to collapse of ill-equiped Pak Army there so that in the end he could rule West Pakistan. He got hanged...got what he deserved.

As I mentioned people on both sides have written their eye-witness account. I just cannot ignore what East Pakistan’s commander, General Niazi have to say about these events. You blame Gen. Niazi for carrying out atrocities on common Bangalis; however, it was General Tikka Khan who Bangalis themselves called “Butcher of Decca”.
I am sure you too are familiar with the Larkana Conspiracy case. Where Bhutto and Yahiya Khan conspired together to finalize the plan to ditch East Pakistan and leave East Pakistan without formal administration so when inevitable happens the current West Pakistan Administration cannot be blamed.

Yahya's LFO contained provisions that if constitution was not made within 120 days assembly wud be dissolved and martial law will be extended. My God! even 18th amendment took one year. Finally Mujib had 51% majority to frame constitution of his choice. Remember 51% was reqd under Yahya's LFO to approve constitution. Mujib only represented East Pakistan. Bhutto demanded Yahya to change 51% into 66% but Yahya did not. Instead...cont

You know Yahya showed Bhutto reports of ISI and Military Intelligence that after transfer of power Mujib wud shift all foreign reserves, State Bank headquarters to Dhaka and after geting control of all the financial resources he wud declare independence of Bangladesh and leave rest of Pakistan in lurch, because Mujib knew that he cud never rule West Pakistan.

It is clear from so many comments here that most even dont know what the heck this incident is about??? Polish Governmnet offered a respectable ceasfire in East Pakistan; but that clashed with Bhutto's sinister plans to divide and rule : "Audhar Tum Edhare Hum". It was indeed Bhutto's own plan to prolong the war in East Pakistan which can lead to collapse of ill-equiped Pak Army there so that in the end he could rule West Pakistan. He got hanged...got what he deserved.

In the end it is for the reader to infer and discover the truth. I have done that...outcome...Bhutto played key role in formation of Bangladesh. As I mentioned people on both sides have written their eye-witness account. I just cannot ignore what East Pakistan’s commander, General Niazi have to say about these events. You blame Gen. Niazi for carrying out atrocities on common Bangalis; however, it was General Tikka Khan who Bangalis themselves called “Butcher of Decca”.

And guess why Yahya put this provision of 120 days in the LFO. Mujib cud use his bare 51% majority to frame constitution of his will. Now think over his 6 pts and point #2 deprived central Govt of all taxation powers. How can a central govt be run without revenue? Central govt and Pakistan wud hv been destroyed as a result of this constt.

Read Mujib's six points, examin them closely and impartially. Read Yahya's Legal Framework Order(LFO or PCO) and its stark contradiction which were Yahya's game to retain power even aqfter elections. Yahya made all the arrangements to wind up democracy if constitution-making failed. Tikka did his chief's command.

Yahya's LFO contained provisions that if constitution was not made within 120 days assembly wud be dissolved and martial law will be extended. My God! even 18th amendment took one year. Finally Mujib had 51% majority to frame constitution of his choice. Remember 51% was reqd under Yahya's LFO to approve constitution. Mujib only represented East Pakistan. Bhutto demanded Yahya to change 51% into 66% but Yahya did not. Instead...cont

For example, how quickly Bhutto recognized the newly state of Bangladesh, and how he was NOT interested in expeditious liberation of Pakistanis POWs. You talk about Polish Cease Fire as humiliating document; what transpired by not accepting that ceasefire agreement was in fact FAR MORE humiliated. Bhutto intentionally tore that document and created far more detrimental consequences for Pakistan.
