  • Crysis OCTAV: coming soon.....

  • next gen graphic engine video... in 240p

  • Thank God for Japaneese people, else we would still be in the stone age using our iStone :X Hope they recover from the terrible Disaster as soon as possible :(

  • It should be illegal to upload a video about how good graphics are or about agraphics engine in anything LESS than 1080p.... wtf is the point???

  • Outtaaa alll the games in the world....they pick tekken....

  • 2007? These graphics are already in our calculators.

  • Thumbs up if you poop on the seat so its quieter

  • WiiU.

    ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) 2012 only

  • That not next gen. This is so 2007...

  • What they need to do is to import that to a good game

  • Yawn, welcome to 2006 and CryEngine 2. We've moved onto CryEngine 3, UE4 and Frostbite 2

  • Sorry octave engine but there's no more seat for you in the gaming world. We have CryEngine™ 3, Unreal Engine 3 and Frostbite 2.

  • @gunnery18 look at the daaaaaate

  • @talesrof oh ya!

  • CryEngine 3 got all this stuff lol... and much more.

  • @RedhotIta1 lol look at the date this video was posted

  • @Nunski17 Oh ye... But CryEngine 2 got same :D But is really nice this too

  • @RedhotIta1 Didn't know that

  • 3 years after, I saw this video and I was like look at the upload date !

  • What do they mean by "released"? Is it going to be free? Where can I download it? I'm interested in buying it too, if it's not to costly. I'm just a hobbist, but I have been having an awesome time with Oe-cake, which is based on Octave.

  • it's capable of so much and they use it on Tekken :( what a waste

  • crysis's water still looks better than this.

  • lol why would u need water to move realistically in tekken

  • That water "physics" / hydro-physics part looks like something people did in JAVA back in 1997. Its basically calculated using a bump map drawn in realtime. Serioiusly, this engine is more than 10 YEARS too late.

  • @RareVDO oh,shut the fuck up,there is maybe no java in 1997 been and try also make a better physics engine

  • @isorSOT

There is maybe no Java? You are not sure and that's your argument? LMAO. What a dumbass.

Java is available since 1995. The Java water/lake simulation is available since maybe as early as 1996!

Seriously, you don't sound like you know ANYTHING retard. So please shut your trap.

  • @RareVDO oh,f*ck,first Java,Java 1.0 came out in 1996 and it don't even supported 2d graphics,JDK 1.2 has been first Java, that supported 2D graphics,so,there can be programmed early models of water/lake like simulation, and they looked like single texture with visual (not physical) simulation of water drops so,shut the f*ck up

  • @isorSOT

LMAO. I bet you are probably 13 year old who aren't even born at the time, that's why you don't know JACK SHIT about this. This so called "hydrodynamics simulation" done on Octave engine - is no different than the lake water simulation they did back in 1997. They added displacement mapping to it and added a particle emitter (the water droplets part) and that's about it. The tech is as crude and crappy as the they were back in 1997. Seriously, grow up retard. And learn English!

  • @isorSOT

As a matter of fact, the PC Game Alien vs Predator had the same water simulation back in 1999!

The resolution is not as high as this due to the limitation of the computational power back then, but it did simulated water exactly same way as this did. I bet you didn't know that because you were only 2 years old at the time.

  • @RareVDO hmm, well,i played Alien VS Predator, and i didn't noticed any water simulation in this game, maybe there been any visual water simulation, but not physical, like waves or splashes

  • @isorSOT

In one of the cave in AvP, you walk past some ankle deep water. If you jump it splashes and make ripples, and ripples interacts. Its exactly like what this Octave demo with Tekkan 6.

  • @RareVDO well, this waves probably have lower resolution, than in Octave engine

  • @RareVDO and look at the date of this video posted, now Octave Engine is much better

  • the splashes look far from real.

  • Wow they invent some cool graf enginee to inplant it in Takken :D who gives a fuck about how woter moves in a tekken?! :D

  • @redzus i thing it would be awesome to fight in the water :)

  • @redzus Well water is one of the harder things to render in games and even on high-end pc's.

  • whoa.. i thought those japs only good at making boobies(or boin-boin as they say) physics engine

  • they have a new physics engine and they use it on a fucking tekken game! y not a new gta 4 game or a halo game, seriously, WHAT A WASTE!

  • you guys havent seen the nvidia demos lately have you? smoke, water, jelly...

  • Most pointless use of water physics in a game ever... Make a platformer or a shooter.

  • CRY ENGINE 3 RAPES IT

  • @ableman8 hell yeah! :D

  • euphoria is wayyyyy better

  • @ultimatetoturial56 acting yes i dont even think euphoria has graphics just how the characters act

  • @ultimatetoturial56 Dude it's a totally different matter. Euphoria is for animating 3D characters on-the-fly "based on a full simulation of the 3D character, including body, muscles and motor nervous system".

  • They're Tekken it too far.

  • @Grazz1992 YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Tekken is getting very repetitive. What a waste of great technology..

  • cmon this looks so unrealistic

  • tekken 6 still looks like shit

  • I'm sure people that play Tekken really give a shit about how the water works.

  • lol this ended up being shit Tekken 6 looked shit

  • bah, not impressed , now "From Dust" THAT IS AN IMPRESSIVE GAME ENGINE

  • bad quality

  • It may have realistic environment but remember, it's an arcade game. Wasn't mean to be realistic. That water fucking rules.

  • I don't know what Demon is talking about, America loves fighting games. I like mostly all genres, fighting especially. America makes more games than just FPS shooters. Jak & Dax, Ratchet & Clank, Crash Bandicoot, Uncharted, UFC, Ragdoll Kung fu, FloW, Midnight club,True Crime LA & NY, MLB The show, Warhawk. Oh yeah and don't forget PONG.

  • Euphoria For the win.

  • this is 2007... Another way to say it is three and an half year ago.... stop complaining

  • The water is better in the demo than the game itself

  • This Tekken game makes my eyes water.

  • i think the water in Ratchet and Clank: A crack in time, used the same water

  • @TheDust69 Tekken X Street Fighter will use the same engine.

  • Looks not very good.. We're still way off from simulating anything close to reality..

  • yes because we totally go through deserts in Tekken.........dude ill stick with Gears 2 for water

  • The lighting looks like the ones in those annoying MMORPG's.

    They're terrible.

  • The physics look like they're in some sort of flashy Asian-made Kung-Fu movie.

    They're terrible.

  • Wow, the Octave engine is attempting things that were put in place way before this shit.

  • You taked drug or just you birthed with brain-problem? Vagy csak egyszerűen részeg vagy baszdmeg? -.,-'

  • @GaragyVlad LOLZ shitty spelling: he birthed with brain-problem.

Don`t get angry just cuz he knows stuff better.

Oh and GTA Sucks dick compared to Half-Life 2 and portal.

HL2 has waaaay better storyline and graphics are good even withought all this new graphics card Shit. you need 256mb just to run it on lowest settings.

  • godobladla: You´re f*ckin retard, man! 1. It´s and old video! 2. The Euphoria(TM) is better than f*ckin retard Source(TM) and the Source(TM) is very old (2004), ye´ ye´, have updates, but the Euphoria(TM) is better, very, very... (GTA 4)

  • @GaragyVlad It would seem you are the retard GaragyVlad(TM). Euphoria is not a game engine or dedicated physics engine, its a character animation engine using a combination of motion capture and preprogrammed character behaviour integrated with physics. Just FYI before you start slating people as "f*ckin retard man" for offering an opinion.

  • @GaragyVlad GTA4 sucks, lol. Yeah, it's fun, but the physics aren't something to boast about. xD

  • still the source orange box (2007) is the most realistic

  • Octave Engine its suck.

    Cryengine its cool!

  • oecake ftw

  • amazing

  • HI, Im getting a new PC for gameing. If I get the 64 bit, Im I going to have a problem playing any new games? Such as Modran warfare 2, Just cause 2, far Cry 2 etc. This is what Im buying..Intel i7 980x overclocked to 4.2 6Gb Kingston HyperX (2) Graphic card ATI Radeon HD 5970 PCI-E 16X 2GB GDDR5 Video Card. Please let me know thanx.

  • @uphill248 if u ask me thats a dumb question... my rig is like half of that and runs just cause 2 at 40-80 fps and farcry2 even better

  • @combatplayer sooo can i play on a 64 bit??????

  • @uphill248 yeah im using 64 bit windows 7

  • @uphill248

yes it sucks you'll need to like 20 of those to get over 30 fps in any of those games

  • guys, look at the date of this video. lol

  • "can dynamically simulate hydrodynamics" is it me or is this a bit repetitive?

  • @detibry no, cause its used in different ways. Dynamically rendering something that is based on the Dynamics of fluid is not a redundant statement.

  • lol the water is actually done in DX11 now, via tesselation

  • @MrRodrigez Tessellation is a method of optimizing meshes in real time, not fluid dynamics, or physics at all. Tessellation has nothing to do with physical simulation, only the graphics showing it.

  • @theangrygimp I know, was talking about the displacement allowed by DX11, which allows the polygon count to go WAY up and make water much smoother.. I would know, I have it..

  • @MrRodrigez LOL, Tessellation doesn't have anything to do with displacement either. Again, its just related to polygon meshes being optimized in real time, nothing more, nothing less. Displacement is a whole other set of functions. Just because you have a car, doesn't mean you understand auto mechanics-thoroughly. Just cause you have DX11, doesn't mean you even slightly comprehend what Tessellation is at programming level. Not trying to insult you, but its obvious you don't truly understand it.

  • @theangrygimp LOL again misunderstood, I meant before, I was talking about the displacement of water, and how the tesselation makes it smoother.. XD

  • @MrRodrigez Your not getting it, DISPLACEMENT is a physics term, it has nothing to do with tessellation. The actual definition of displacement is reference to a physical property of something, tessellation has nothing to do with how anything is displaced. Please go read the definitions, then the articles on what tessellation is. You may think your using the term right, but your not. Either look it up, or just move on.

  • @theangrygimp I read all the articles a WHILE ago, I understand the tessellation, but I was referring mainly to how DX11 allows you to displace (I know what it means) water, not exactly stringing the two together. I have seen it in DiRT2, as well as read many articles about it..

  • euphoria is way better

  • This engine is old and out dated.

  • lol noone gives a shit about the water in tekken

someone should make a game that involves interaction with sand and water and not just have the engine as a statistic gadget in the background

  • its amazing that all that is just zeros and ones dont you think?

  • that's pretty tight

  • Yeah, they need volume now, and it will be BAD ASS.

  • can we have a demo on that water thingy i hope we can

  • Omg.. People are so stupid.. Yeah Torque, Ogre3d and nVidia may have tried this years ago. Yeah this is some old stuff that have been seen before.. But i think you people are missing one thing.. It's from 2007 it's not a new video! they even say it in the video and you can see it on the post date

  • @ijhujhu It's still not nearly as good as Cry Engine... and Cry Engine 2 was made in 2006... beat that whoever made this.

  • Cool Story Bro

  • I get the feeling they picked a bad game to implant this engine. If you're going to show off physics, do something that has more chance to show it. The only thing I look at in a fighting game is the health bar and combo counter. The splashes didn't look very real in the actual game anyway. Either that or the characters didn't look real enough next to the water.

  • Havok is the best physic engine at the moment. ;)

  • Havok does nothing to simulate liquid, other than some normal mapping maybe.

  • damn, no one understood that this is a demonstration video ;-)

It's like each one has tested the Octave Engine...

We don't really know all of Octave's possibilities and qualities just with this video ;)

It's like Ogre 3D, you can't judge it just with a video !

  • what about nVidia PhysX ?? lol you guys suck

  • This is soooo lame! Torque, orgre3d, and even nVidia have tried this years ago! This Old stuff! The splashes are not even real particles, just alpha textures. And the water plane too low quality. Truth is, Real accurate Water dynamics are decades away from being simulated in real time.

  • @aaron1a12 Japanese find such things surprising due to the low level of PCgaming

  • @aaron1a12

    Hydrophobia looks pretty good...

  • @aaron1a12 real accurate water dynamics is already possible with havok. You can find those tests on youtube. It computates every water particle... But for it showing up in game at reasonable framerate, we'll wait maybe just for few years, not really a decade.. It already works in 2D in OEcake, so in 3D is coming very soon.

  • @aaron1a12 Not true. There is a dude that built a realtime fluid simulation engine (navier-stokes based) that can render smoke, fire, water, etc in realtime. It's somewhere on youtube (search realtime navier-stokes fluids and it might pop up).

  • @aaron1a12 Haha, fail. Look up Hydrophobia.

  • @aaron1a12 Yeah, high end computers cant even render big 2D fluid simulations in realtime. realtime 3D fluid simulation is lightyears away.

  • @aaron1a12 dont tell them to not bother other wise how the hell would it be possible to happen in the next 10 years?

  • @aaron1a12 at least it looks real as if it was being simulated.

  • @aaron1a12 the hardware is there, the programmers just need to catch up, i mean even cheap computers can run graphically intense games(not great, but not bad),i love computer gaming and graphics, but i still don't see the need for a top of the line i7 and dual video cards for any games out there today.a cheap quad core and a $250 video card is more than enough for most games today. I bet you'll eat your words in 5 years remember Moore's law! :) (well except for the lame part!)

  • @aaron1a12 I agree with you on the method tried by older GFX developers, but water dynamics in real time, just like group behavioral response to other physics, also particles rendering and any fluid simulations are as close as it gets to the reality, and it will get better in the future, if that's what you meant, but real accurate water dynamics and fluid simulation is at it's peak when it comes to reality

  • @aaron1a12 no shit, it was uploaded in 2007...

  • @aaron1a12

Its is computational power that dictates true particle modelling.

It is not decades away. It will happen in the next 5 years.

desktop computers in 10 year will be equal in power to that of the human brain.

Computer power is growing exponentially and as such grows much fast than what people perceive.

In the year 2020 internet bandwidth will be in gigabits and desktops will be computing in petaflops.

  • @aaron1a12

You commented on something from 2007, in 2010.

  • @aaron1a12 decades? please with the way technology is going maybe 10 years

  • Does anyone know how to spell physics?

  • Hey, im a musician, if anyone would like me to create music for your games i'd be happy to do it. just send a mail to my Youtube AC :)

  • This is 'Graphics'. The Graphics, reflections, refractions, has to interact with the physics. Just don't post when you don't have the right knowledge. ;)

  • It's both Physics and Graphics then, noob...

  • physics and graphics go hand in hand I cant believe you people tolerate this stupidity.

  • Hey man, I like Tekken.

  • The water in Tekken 6 looks seriously shitty though!

  • go and play CS and FIFA :-@

  • Tekken 6 looked like shit though. I was unpleasantly surprised.

  • too bad it's wasted on tekken.

  • No. It's nothing bad. Why do you think it's bad? it's just great to have as many games for the engine as possible. Besides many more games will be developed. Perheaps some of them may use this engine though there are more rival engines out there already such as the PhysX.

  • I'm just thinking, that such advanced and awsome techknowlegy will be overlooked in such a simple rehashed genre such as a fighting game. (Even a game with such revere as Tekken.) The audiance for fighting games has declined, (at least it has in the U.S.).

It's like putting new techknology to "Pong".

Don't let me reighn on your parade if you love Tekken. I'd just like to see this Octave engine see wider use in all genres, especialy shooters.

  • I'm not shouting at all. And honestly I have never liked Tekken at all. :P

  • @Deamonslayer3001 haha, seriously!

  • @Deamonslayer3001 "waste" ? Tekken isn't a waste...

  • @Deamonslayer3001 asshole

  • i like it .. dont no much about engine things but it looks awesome!

  • All the people commenting on here, on how it doesnt look good or is boring and other negative comments. Get off youre lazy arses and make youre own better engine then eh? This is very impressive technology here and people have worked hard on this. Yet the fat kids behind their keyboard try to look cool by saying it sucks. *sighs*

  • You're totally right. And I even really hate fat people.

  • it doesn't suck it is simply out dated, this is from 2007.

  • Still, it looks good and works fine.

  • it actually looks shit compared to the new engines out now, so you really have no idea what you are talking about.

  • No mate, I know what im talking about, its you who doesnt know what theyre talking about. Tekken 6 is a fighting game, Ive got the game and it plays fine with this engine. The engines fine, thats just youre opinion.

  • compare this engine to the street figher 4 engine, it gets raped, the octave engine is a LAST GEN engine. I doubt you know how to code at all. Having the game and it running fine does not mean you know anything about it, it just means you have the game. Do your self a favor and don't comment back start coding for a few years, then take a look at the cryengine and then come back and tell me this engine is a current gen engine. kkthxbii.

  • Oh and you code do you? Ive been studying game development for the past 4 years thanks. Whats so more advanced about the street fighter 4 engine? I never said I knew how to code, but obviously youre someone who is comparing this game and engine to Crysis which is ridiculous, as its a totally different genre and game. Just because youve seen the Crysis engine doesnt mean, YOU know how to code and this engine sucks, which was my original point. KTHNXBAI.

  • kewl.. how does this pay my bills?

  • You pay them yourself with a job.

  • Lol

  • WOW this looks .... fucking boring ...

most engines do this and that little movie was probeably recorded on a super machine

    this is lozerisch

  • I'm sorry but the home versions of this game does not look that good.

  • "Next gen" is a way overused buzzword.

  • pfffffttttttt you guys should check out Cryengine 3

  • I'm sorry, but i just picked up Tekken 6, and I really can't find any fluid dynamics on the water stages.

  • @FoxhoundJay i think the physics stuff is on the arcade only =( but i never played it =(

  • You'll need the new hardware to run it.

  • tekken ftw!

  • Is Gummi Pys system.. Water ist now 2016....

  • Hasn't this been done before?

  • who told u that is water??

  • He shows the water and then he says, "As well as simulating water, blablabla"

  • I watched without audio lol

  • Lol, me too, the second time I watch'd it with audio just to answer you.

  • True in terms of looking not like water

  • Try OE Cake because it's free and fun. Yay.

  • why is this so cliche to me, a chinese guy with glasses explaining a new computer technology.

    LoL

  • or japanese, i dont wanna offend anyone :d

  • The reason he would be explaining it, is because his probably one of the people who made the fucking engine!

  • because they invented it?

  • korean...

  • nope

  • lmfao!! thumbs up

  • read his name... he's korean
