In Wales we visit the cambrian mountains and saw a lot of brilliant places and such nice people. In Scotland we visit Edinburgh and Loch Ness amazing too. I say, I’m not wholly against separation of the UK, I think S/land & Eng would do ok, however what about the other two countries? If I lived in N/I I would not be happy, because they would have to join the euro & the south who cannot afford it, I talking finance not political. I think the west coast ie (Glasgow) has a bit bigotry, however I have not encountered it on the east (Edinburgh) I am half English, though I do have a Scottish name and feel more Scottish even though I speak with a Northumbrian accent. @glasgow1234 ... into the colonisation it was England who bailed us out. We're enjoying many benefits the English aren't which we would have to sacrifice if we were footing our own EU bill. We share a language, a common culture and our ethnicities have all pretty much blended together through the years and the central belt where most of Scotland's population is centred barely shows any Scottish identity, it's almost completely kept alive in the Highlands and Islands.

What i'm saying is, there is no need for the Union anymore. Scotland is more than capable in this day and age to be a normal independent sovereign state. Scotland actually has a different language in the highlands, dialects. Scottish culture and identity is very different from English culture. And Edinburgh and Glasgow are VERY Scottish!

Well we've always had more representation in the UK than our population should allow us but if we were independent and subject to more pressure from Europe we'd have to pray that France would decide to support our interests or simply be subject to constant interference from Brussels (I'm pro-Europe just not if we aren't one of the big 3). Northern Ireland isn't a part of Britain, but since the countries in the UK haven't got induvidual passports, they are given British ones, so they're pretty much British. @glasgow1234 When referring to Scottish revenue I'm assuming you mean oil sales - well it wasn't "Scottish money" that opened the oil fields, it was British and overseas money - would you be buying out the non-Scottish interests? Northern Ireland is a 'special case' - Scotland is not "under armed attack." No doubt an English person is free to stand but my guess is the opposition would throw in the race card.

Two incidents stand out: a car overtaking us north of Glasgow, pulling in sharply and then taking off with fists being waved from the windows. 2. There's a bar in central Glasgow that must be the local HQ of a particularly nasty crowd in which I was told "We don't serve your sort in here" - the only thing they knew about me was my accent when ordering for a pint.

If I lived in N/I I would not be happy, because they would have to join the euro & the south who cannot afford it, I talking finance not political. @glasgow1234 ... into the colonisation it was England who bailed us out. We're enjoying many benefits the English aren't which we would have to sacrifice if we were footing our own EU bill. We share a language, a common culture and our ethnicities have all pretty much blended together through the years and the central belt where most of Scotland's population is centred barely shows any Scottish identity, it's almost completely kept alive in the Highlands and Islands.

I think u r correct that people in the central belt don't pay much attention to Gaelic. Perhaps that would change with independence and the Government would introduce gaelic in schools. Well we've always had more representation in the UK than our population should allow us but if we were independent and subject to more pressure from Europe we'd have to pray that France would decide to support our interests or simply be subject to constant interference from Brussels (I'm pro-Europe just not if we aren't one of the big 3). I'd think it is self evident that the opposite would be so. @glasgow1234 Everyone in the UK is a British citizen. You're British, I'm British, so are Welsh and Northern Irish people, whether you like it or not. Not just geographically. Northern Ireland isn't a part of Britain, but since the countries in the UK haven't got induvidual passports, they are given British ones, so they're pretty much British. Canadians and Mexicans aren't Americans. That's like saying English and French are Spanish because they're in the same continent.

The whole of the UK being against the war makes no difference in the fact that if Scotland were independent at the time our troops would not have been sent and killed. Wales and NI can do as they wish. Nobody "owns" them. And i and most Scots don't support joining the Euro. And Scotland will never be a republic, everyone knows that

@ofri75 Scotland and England joined together under the Union of the Crowns in 1603 in which both parities agreed and the SCOTTISH king James VI became king and today 44% of people have voted for the SNP regardless it is still the minority.
It was planned to give Ireland independence in the early 1910s but the people of Ulster did not want independence and where up in arms while the people of the south did so we gave it to them if ulster wanted independece they would get it but only 27%..

@thebritish25 - the golan is 100% Israeli territory, was taken because of Syrian agression, is part of Israel for 45 years now, and will stay that way. More than 80% of Israelis said that they would never agree to turn this precious land (with also a big strategic significance) to a terror country such as Syria. By the way - it was part of Syria for only 20 years (1947 - 1967).
