do glow worms live in the ground becoz i was camping and about 11oclock at night i was walking and i turned around and there was a glowing trail and it was glow worms coming out where i was walking but i thought they only lived in caves
Thanks for the comments. The best time to look for glow worms in the UK is late June to early August, just after dark. They tend to like low grass, fairly open areas. Often seen by the side of rail tracks (especially disused ones). They favour chalky or limestone areas and we have quite a bit of that here in the Chilterns.
Yes, seen quite a few this year around the Chilterns area, over 80 in one spot and another 25 in another area in the last week or so. They seem to have started a bit earlier this year.

Great video! I've never seen these in Suffolk. Are they seasonal? Is there a particular type of foliage that they hang out in?
