when i install using -v (at 0:29) its says 'Still waiting for root device'. And when i install normal, the apple logo comes, but 1min later a small logo pops up that looks like that prohibited sign around cigarettes that you see.

do any of you know what this means ?

@xxxgrizlymanxxx it means that your install failed! also means that hardware was not being read right from the install disk and so cannot go farther! just download Empire EFI or my favorite "Pirate EFI-X" bootloader, its easier and more reliable than boot 132 loader... Pirate EFI-X will force your computer to install Snow Leopard but I suggest to use an external USB portable slim CD/DVD driver, these portables seem to force any installation into any computer smoothly...

hey man that happen to me to then i just reinstlled mac os x and it worked, its usally when i dont install right just reinstall and if it please reply if it workedgive u kernel error like it did to me just boot up in safe mode with -x hope i helped

My ASUS G50VT-X5 is better the Macbook Pro hardware that has the NVidia 9600 in it, and I would think it may even outperform it once the same OS is installed? I will only out $100 for the software instead of $2000...BUT used Macs have a lot of preinstalled goodies so I still might just buy my way to greatness that way.

Go ahead and waste $2,000, your choice... software can always be downloaded and crack.... I have an Asus G2S gaming laptop... Boot-132 was useless for me as a bootloader. After trying many only three work perfect for Asus mobos. Empire EFI, Rebel EFI & my favorite 'Pirate EFI-X" all these use a nice UI and non of the white letters scattered all over your screen. Very simple and work for Asus, Gigabyte & MSI mobos. You should try "Kakewalk" bootloader, especially made for Newer Asus hardware!

My Asus G2S gaming Laptop runs OS X Snow Leopard fully retail. everything works fine except the WiFi, thats cause no one actually made a real working kext driver for it. Don't care since I bought a $30 D-Link nano mini usb WiFi wireless N adapter... My SL has not crash a bit, it runs actually faster than any Macbook Pro. MY graphics card is fully enabled with Quartz and open GL. I have HD sound, camera works fine, shuts-down & restart's fine. Just downloaded expensive mac software! 100% perfect!

@LALOMAN18 I got some good files on iNsanely Mac I think it was. Specificially for the G50. My concerns are mostly just having Pro Tools work. Seems to be a hitch with that, they say that it is due to not formatting Mac OS Extended Journaled but it makes me a little weary of starting projects with all the hiccups I have read about. I have found a few used MPB around $1200 with Applecare until 2012 or so. I also like to mod and hack hardware so I might do both then sell the Mac for 1800 lol.

I get it installed by booting it with maximum=2048 cpus=1 but after installation it gets to a screen with an apple and something spinning and it seems to load forever And never go anywhere.... If you just want to install iATKOS you don't need any retail or Boot 132, in iATKOS in "Customize" you can install the Chameleon Boot loader./

@TYRONEBIGGLES 1. There are allot of drivers out there, All my devices work perfectly. And windows 7 emulates 32bits applications perfectly, so I don't see any reason why there should be any problems.

2. There is a XP mode (you need to install windows virtual pc)

3. Windows 7 works good, but XP is still the best.

Windows xp 64x do have a lot of compatibility problems. So I don't know why you are saying that windows 7 is shit.

looks like hw was only installing the hackintosh requirements. i think iatkos is the os for mac. this video is just made, because you would not have to break the law by using illegal stuff... at lease iatkos is illegal, but i dont see him installing the base system with iatkos, so i rather subscribe to him.

correct me if im wrong but did you install iATKOS v7 as a back up on a dif HD just as a failsafe incase something happens with your first setup? using the boot-132 and a retail copy your already set to go. Just put on a bootloader(not completely needed) and all your drivers ect. If you wanted to just use iATKOS v7 you didn't need to install a retail OS X

installing OSX from a retail DVD allows you to perform software updates.

using the iATKOS disc, he is able to install the drivers/kexts and Chameleon bootloader in iATKOS.

People are asking the same questions so I will try to answer some.

The next few posts are me, it only allows 500 characters at a time.

iATKOS doesnt wipe the disk if you use MBR - windows default. Just shrink your drive with diskpart /disk management in Vista, create a new partition, then erase and re-format it using disk utility in the OS X disk..

Using the retail install disk will enable the GPT partition table and EFI partition so you have all your custom kexts etc. on a 200mb partition that isn't normally used (there but empty). If you install the kexts and a kernel, bootloader and other stuff, you will have a fully Vanilla system + your settings.

This will enable you to UPDATE using Apple Update and go from 10.5.1 to 10.5.7 (for example) without needing a Kalyway update, but the real one.

iATKOS/iPC/Kalyway/iDeneb/the thousands of others will not boot if you update as it replaces the installed bootloader/kernel with the retail one which your system can't handle as it's crap: not a Mac (Mac fan here =P )

It's well worth going Vanilla (original) Leopard as it's also more stable, all your custom stuff is seperate to your install and is 'forced' to open in your retail install (quite clever really, best of both)

Got to say you done it the longest way possible. Just use the iATKOS disk, don't bother installing the retail version, makes no difference. iATKOS uses the retail disk, just means you install the drivers there and then. The only thing I can't to work on my laptop is the double-tap on the mousepad.
