I think people take this too far. Yes, it's important to be aware in the moment sometimes. But it's just as important to plan, even worry sometimes. This is how we figure things out and make changes in ourselves or our situations. Each is equally important. I hate the cop out attitude that we should just relax and accept everything, that's being a sheeple!
@whitelotuswithsnake You're right, but really I think it's more that worrying is inevitable and then there are better and worse ways to work with that particular set of emotions. Worry is an important signal, but there's not really any reason you couldn't be, say, cautious or prudent without it. Awareness, on the other hand, has to be actively sought. It's the opposite of sheeple-ness, hopefully.
@whitelotuswithsnake It is easy at first to misunderstand the concept of mindfulness. Embracing your own fear & anger is not a cop out, it is radical acceptance that these feelings will arise in us, and gives us the ability to act with wisdom and compassion right now, rather than getting caught up in the internal dialog of worry and fretting, only to react out of fear and anger.
A simple but powerful idea. This video put into words things that I already new but could never quite materialize.
