Kim Gordon plays a thing that has 6 six strings and looks like a guitar but it sounds pretty much like a bass. I've read somewhere in Wikipedia that she plays the guitar in some songs...

It's a 6 string Gibson Les Paul guitar tuned way down low like a bass. I watched then play this live back in Oct. '95 and rememember it vividly. I also remember the interviews they did at the time about the making of this album. She played almost no bass whatsoever on the album (and no one else did), but was tuned down so low that it worked out really nice.

They played this much better the night I caught them on that tour. It was MESMERIZING!!! The Diamond Sea that night was AMAZING too!!!

I saw this show. I found it amazing, but it was a festival show with many people who didn´t know or like Sonic Youth. I mean, when you don´t like Sonic Youth, a 20 minute-performance of "the diamond sea" is like going to the dentist.
