  • Can u guys make a video of someone testing out the pdp concepts? And giving the details and specs about them? Maybe kirkee B? Or Gerald? Shoot, they all are great...I think it would be great to hear them from a pro.

  • @joebruiser77 Noted and a great idea. We are working hard on getting all content and specs onto pacificdrums(dot)com at the moment. Soon there after hopefully we can get something like what you have mentioned next. Thanks!

  • great to see a big company demoing there stuff for religious music :)

  • @Realdealgear We love all types of music and we were very happy to have Gerald do this video with us for drums for the church!

  • Why would a church have 24 carat gold hardware on its drums?

  • the more expensive the kit is, the better mic'd and eq'd it is

just marketing DW, not actual info

  • @SuperDrummerJoe Not necessarily true Super Drummer Joe. None of these kits got any extra "sonic love" for this vid. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc I can vouch for this too. I've been playing a PDP CX 8 pc kit for years and recorded with it a number of times and have recorded with a DW kit as well and it's just how the drums respond. The DW kit I recorded with had 4 or 5 year old skins on it, including the snare which was inthe worst shape, and the kit still out performed my PDP kit sonically inthe studio under similar cirmcumstances, mics etc. Granted, my PDP kit records BEAUTIFULLY on it's own.

  • @kemallett Thank you very much for your honest feedback! We love it!

  • i know this is a drum promo, but this drummer exhibiting them is a monster. watching for enjoyment ^.^

  • @TheSteviebobevie Glad you are liking Gerald! We like him too. :)

  • anybody else here a run to the hills intro type beat at 4:13?

  • @liamkleckner Nice call! It was similar. Now we got that song stuck in our head. :) Not complaining though.

  • I love my 15 year old DW Collectors kit- I'm never selling it! And wow, that PDP sounds like a bargain, considering it sounds nearly as good as the Collectors. Though you can't beat the cannon sound of Collector's kicks.

  • @TheBigBurrito1 15 years old! Nice. That's almost vintage for us. :) Thanks for choosing DW!

  • This video makes me feel proud to play PDP. It's still a DW through & through. Anybone playing one should never feel embarrassed to own and/or play one if you do.

The X7s in this video look & sound great.

The other kits look & sound amazing, as well

  • @tbonedrumcam We are proud that you are proud to play your PDP's! No shame in your game! Thanks for watching. :)

  • Bit disappointed that some advice wasn't given about drum sizes and good drums for church acoustics etc. What drums are best used behind a screen etc. This is just a straight sales pitch.

  • @Dav0London There are no right sizes and perfect drums for churches. It helps a little, when the shells are rather thin and light, because a heavy shells produce more attack and therefor seem to be a little louder.

  • @Dav0London But the most important thing is TUNING. The drumhead oscillation (movement) is coupled to the room acoustics so you need to keep an eye on how the sound develops in the church's environment. If the room gives back a lot of energy to the drumhead (echo) then you will have to limit the sustain of the drum very much - and it's better to do it via tuning then via muffling.

  • @Dav0London No harm man, but you still have to do your own research. Go to your local drum store ask them. Hit some drums, rent some drums. No drummer is going to tell you the exact sticking to their favorite lick all the time. Somethings you have to find out on your own. Don't be lazy. I've been to live concerts and the music sounded great, but once I later seen the video everything sounded like crap. Grooves sounded like child's play. So do your own research, don't depend on no one else.

  • I watched this video and subscribed. I loved DW for years but could never afford one. But that performance series makes it possible.

  • @Rudare916 Awesome! We are very happy to have you getting into a Performance kit. We look forward to making you one. :)

  • How are the toms tuned in this vid? Is the top lower than the bottom or vice versa or what exactly? Love the sound!

  • @joebruiser77 The toms are tuned at pretty much the same note. Feel free to check out our John Good tuning video.

  • @whosthatdrummer Thanks for the help!

  • @joebruiser77 Anytime!

  • Im liking the Performance kit--a great sounding/looking kit 4 the money--a perfect alternative 2 the Collector Series--& its in my sizes 8,10,12,14,16 & 22" sizes

  • @gmorton731 Nice! That's why we are making the Performance Series!

  • why do all the kicks sound so electric..

  • @RoshanDrummer All acoustic there we promise!

  • It would be nice if DW offered a way to customize your bass head for their clients when they order it. So churches and artists could have their logo on the head. It would be nice for the churches that dont know much about drums.

  • @aaronaaronjarvis Good idea. We feel that there are plenty of good companies that can handle this request. We can paint anything you want into the finish. For a good company that can customize a bass drum head for you please refer the link below.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc great vid! Was wondering if you could tell me how well the PDP drums would hold up in cooler weather. I have a sunroom in my house that doesn't do the best job for keeping cool air out and that's the only spot I can think to put them. It gets hot and humid in the summer and really cold in the winter here in Ohio. Can they handle those type of climates without any major problems? I know the heads will change with temps but that's no biggy. Thanks!!

  • @joebruiser77 Thanks very much! A sunroom sounds like a nice place to practice. :) We would suggest covering your drum kit keeping it away from the direct rays of the sun. The temperature should be fine for your kit. The kit being inside of your house is a nice temperament for it it specifically because it probably it is not as extreme enough to harm the shells make up.

  • @joebruiser77 ive played mine at an outdoor gig that was 35-40's and its held up great

  • We have a PDP MX at my church! :)

  • @BlueShadow463 Nice! Hope you're liking it.

  • ever thought of making a never kit config for the x7's?

maybe something a little bigger, like:

    14x6.5 snare

    10x8 12x9 13x10 racks

    16x14 18x16 floors

either 22x18 or 24x18 kick (i'm still thinking about that)

and maybe a few more finishes?

  • @killjoyshidae1208 Got some new kits coming later this year that might accommodate your request Shidae. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc cool! thanks for informing me :)

  • @killjoyshidae1208 You got it!

  • nice to hear a snare drum that's not tuned up to the high heavens (no pun intended)

  • @kevthedrummer We do like to tune snares high but not that high. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Thanks!!

  • @isaacvelasquez31 Anytime!

  • Hi what mics did you guys use? Great drums!!

  • @isaacvelasquez31 We used Sure SM57 for the snare, AKG D112 for bass drum, and Rode NT4 for the overheads. Thanks!

  • 2 questions.

What heads would you recomend for a x7?

And why do some drummers playing 7 piece kits put the biggest drum on there left?

  • @CuberMan2 Heads are a definite preference from player to player. Your best start is figure out how much sustain or focus you would like to hear. A single ply head will give your more sustain and a 2 ply head will give you more focus.

The floor tom being on the left side is also a preference thing too. Some players like have a floor tom on each side because they feel there is an easier reach from that particular angle.

  • the pdp drum kit looks awesome! its beautiful!!

  • @mall115 Thanks very much!

  • What are the shell sizes and SSC specs for the Collectors kit in this video? Do any of the shells have reinforcement rings?

  • "You can get a picture of your mother on,a picture of ur father on it" THUMBS UP

  • Gerald when you played the pdp kit you held the stick in your left hand between your middle and index fingers is there a reason you did this... Just wondering Great drumming on all 3 kits... They sound very nice...

  • @SnCroadster Well Gerald wouldn't be replying to his video per say but we can say it is one of his personal techniques. :)

  • What type of drum heads are on that x7 kit?

  • @gthth3h They are the standard single ply PDP heads that some with the X7 kit. :)

  • Man,gerald is a monster,he might sound better with tama bubinga omnitune!! Stay tuned.

  • I absolutely love the Performance Series. I work in a drum shop and I recommend the Performance Series 9 out of 10 times to people coming in to upgrade drums. The only way I would buy a drum set that wasn't a Performance was if I was getting a custom set from DW, Truth, or Seven.

  • @Tuckerweemsmusic Thanks so much for your feedback and support!

  • Performance series plays by itself...

  • @188metalhead881 Or Gerald does too. ;)

  • what mic was used to record the drums

  • @SuperYamahaDrummer94 shure sm57 - snare

    akg d112 - kick

    rode nt4 - overheads

  • It's good for DW to have people make their kits sound good. He could play trash can lids and sell them for $2000.

  • those dws sound good subscribe back to my page

  • i really like hoe this guy really uses the toms

  • the dw sound warmer.....the pdp sound slightly brighter...ply perhaps....

  • @teamsleepnine Yes close. The reinforcement hoops with DW will focus the note more giving that more warm sound. The X7 do not have hoops so you get more of an attack with a brighter note.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc ahhhh....there you go.....thanks!!!

  • @teamsleepnine Anytime! Have a great holiday season!

  • On the Collector's Series presented here, what series of shell is utilized?

  • @09areFish The Collector's Series kit is in the SSC configurations. Please use the link below to learn more about the Specialized Shell Configuration.

    ://dwdr(dot)ms/rZD3vo

  • is it just me that thinks the performance sounds the best, and the collecters sounds worse than the x7?

  • I am dutch and i went to church like 3 times and there never was a drum kit

but i don't understand what does drumming have to do with being a christian

    (yes i am a athiest)

  • @megamees2008 There's nothing about being a Christian which means you must buy a great kit - plenty of more traditional churches get by just fine with an organ for their style of worship. With more contemporary churches, all built on the same foundation of course, but being expressed in different ways, the worship time will consist of music based around a pop/rock/gospel setting depending on where it's at and whatever that congregation is looking for. Next message....

  • @megamees2008 ....But the drumming is just part of that worship music, and of course if a church has the budget for it, they will want to buy the best gear they can (not just the drums!) to get the music quality as high as possible. It's just another aspect of the worship style of any particular church.

  • Love the DW collectors kit (in black oyster glass) at our church...They're a pleasure to play and sound awesome! I still gig with my old mapex kit, and just can't get the tone I get from the DWs. can't wait till I can step up to a set of DWs for myself.

  • what is the "true tuning" ?

  • @TheRokaz The "true tuning" is a reference to our True Pitch tension rods which have a higher thread pitch at 5mm than the standard which is at 12.24's. This gives you more than 20% more then the standard thread count which gives a more finer tuning experience. :)

  • im going to start playing drums at my church here soon... if i could get the money i would deff buy a DW kit!

  • @RealBearWolf68 Awesome! You could check the X7's for PDP. More affordable pricing.

    ://dwdr(dot)ms/eTALH8

  • @DrumWorkshopInc does that kit come with any cymbals?...

  • @RealBearWolf68 No unfortunately not. We feel there are plenty of great cymbal companies to take care of that for you. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Yeah! I really like those, once i get enough money to get them and cymbal Im going to get a set :D

  • DW -- if I purchase the SHELL PACK, will it come with the STM mounts tom or am I going to have to go to Guitar Center and buy them?

  • @BittenMitten All DW and PDP drum kits come with the STM's included. So good news! You don't have to buy them separate. ;)

  • Much respect to DW for not being afraid to show these drums side by side. I've never seen a drum company do that.

  • @snooters Thanks very much. It is important that we show the differences so people can see and most importantly hear the variance between them.

  • You can tell he doesn't like the X7 very much :) I'm getting one tomorrow haha. Can't wait :D DW, you guys are awesome :')

  • @CallumE245 Sure he does! He wouldn't do a video for us for the X7 if he didn't right?!? Thanks for choosing the X7 kit! Let us know how it goes for you.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc guys, the X7 is amazing. i was expecting it to be machine made but the craftmanship in it is amazing :)!!!

  • @CallumE245 Thanks for getting back to us with your feedback. Great to hear! Enjoy your X7 and your drumming while playing the X7. :)

  • I ENJOYED THIS VIDEO!!!!!! Very informative in breaking down the difference between each line of drumsets, you guys offer...

  • @cbeatz852 Thanks so much! We are happy this vid has been helpful in distinguishing between the different lines.

  • I was in my local drum shop n heard dw mite stop making the pdp line because of the money they're losing. DW is great but, they're way too expensive for the average drummer when you can get a pdp (just as great quality) for a 4th of the price personally *shrugs*

  • @Awoodson91 We have some new and exciting things coming up for next years launch. Please check back with us towards the end of January of next year for new gear. Thanks!

  • 3:25 love the beat he does

  • @mreliassimpson Utilizing the toms properly and funky. :)

  • also, is the x7 snare a 14x5 or a 14x5.5? just to clarify

  • @killjoyshidae1208 It is a 5x14 Shidae. :)

  • Comment removed

  • its butter man

  • @DrumWorkShopInc how did you guys tune the Performance serie kit?

I really like the sound :D

  • @ocdpdrummer87 The same style as the Collectors Series. Please check the John Good tuning video when you get a chance. Thanks!

    ://dwdr(dot)ms/veAjQf

  • thumbs up if u think performance and collector just differed by the bass head

  • he is incredible but i wanna know why the dump he puts the stick in between his middle and index finger at 3:17

  • Comment removed

  • Truth Drums... Nuf said...

  • he just changed my mind about PDP

  • @drummaryan Hope that's a good thing. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc oh yeah its a good thing haha. I didnt know the PDP x7 sounded that good. I knew the platinum series sounds good, but now I know the whole series can sound good. :)

  • @drummaryan Well we are glad you have been turned on to the X7 series! They have been a great drum kit for PDP with a lot of good feedback. :)

  • I love the way the first kit and the last kit sounded. Personally, I prefer the last kit and as for his chops and fills...hot lick overload! lol

  • this dude is amazing

  • Which microphones are u using? , only 3 mics on each kit !! wow!!!!

  • There really wasn't a big difference between the X7 and the Collectors. Either this guy can tune like a beast or these drums are all pretty well made, even the lower ends. I'm thinking it's both.

  • @xTiguex the X7 kit is very nice. its almost like buying a high end kit for cheaper. i have mine and they thunder like monsters but also sing like angels. they also are incredibly easy to tune. i recommend them highly.

  • @xTiguex It's a combo for sure. The X7's are made from the same maple as the DW Collector's series. So there can be similarities for sure. Thanks for watching!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc So the Collectors is made from Chinese maple as well because thats what the x7 is made of

  • @metalopolis1

I believe DW gets their maple from Michigan. I could be wrong about that, but I know it's at least sourced from the US, per John Good's presentation during the Gallery Tour.

  • @dww0902 i only say that because PDP is made of Chinese maple and birch or so i have been told by Guitar Center which is a DW, PDP dealer

  • @metalopolis1 Just to clear things up guys. Our maple is from the great lakes area(Michigan mostly) and it has been used from everything from DW Collectors to M5 and to X7 series.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc well i do appreciate u clearing it up

  • @metalopolis1 Our pleasure. Thanks for watching. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc

    Do I win a prize? :P

  • @xTiguex Thanks! Great to hear the X7 is going well for you. :)

  • a gospel drummer must have a dw

  • @TheMASDrummer I''m a gospel drummer at my Catholic church and I play TAMA.

  • @TheMASDrummer Why? drummers don't even need drum sets. check out the cajon.

  • @BubbleWrapPerson

    i was joking.

  • Never get tired of seeing this guy play, i have a dw kit, red sparkle with gold hardware (like neil pearts old dw kit) i wanted a 8" tom and another kick, buuuut i was told you guys cant do that finish anymore :( i need a dw snare terribly though lol!!

  • @99siks10 We would love to help you out of course! Is your kit a Lacquer finish or a finish ply finish?

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Its finish ply i guess? its a wrap. Please tell me yall can hook me up on an 8" tom! lol

  • Thanks God, because my drum is in the top 3 drums for a church! #PdpX7Series

  • @lmatias93 Thank you! It sounds like the X7 kit was a good choice for you. :)

  • PROPER GOSPEL CHOPS

  • @TheDrummingAsian You know it!
