@planet1250 this video is about a friend and his bike.. It stood for a while, in addition with a mistake of mine filling it up with diesel instead of gas
The result was a bike most of us wouldn't have even tried to repair. But then we decided to help to get this bike back on the road, well,it was done in about 6 hours:
engine checked, oil changed, front brakes renewed, dampers checked and renewed, carburators (hope i spelled it right) cleaned and checked..
@planet1250 wow :) Then you are proud as hell i guess?
I'd be proud, too, if this was my bike.. Mine is an older model of the GSX, it's a 400E manufactured in 1983. the little lady is Older than me! :D Somewhere within my uploaded videos there's a newer one of her, and a video of a little tour we had one sunny day, too. You'll fly pretty low then, the camera was mounted on the frame under the engine.
@institio I had saw all the videos about your fantastic little bike. You're a great mechanic. One of these days i'll put a video of mine too, after some valve work is done
But it's just a gread bike. Good old technology I might say. Once i had a molten piston, the engine was dona after about 140.000km. Take the bike to the junk? never! Instead i changed the engine on myself. Just had to loosen 4 bolts, the chain, the intakes and that's it.
@institio Today you've got to pay for the gear-indicator, poor "todays bikers" :D. I know a man that owns a katana 750 with the same gear indicator as yours, his old beast doesn't want to stop: 157.000 km. Did you ever came to Italy?
@planet1250 I'm sorry, I know Italy only by pictures. My Girlfriend has been at the Gardasea for the last 2 weeks, but i will get the chance to go to italy for sure, because she has written down our names in this tunnel in venezia, where all couples subscribe and she wants to show me :D
my bike will have to stay at home then. I dont know if my chain would survive a ride in italys serpentines, because i like to shift without using the clutch in places like these ;)
@institio It's the rider, more then the vehicle. In Italy 70 % of the "bikers" use their motorcycle only 3 months in a year, and they use 1/3 of the huge power their motorbikes have. To be clear: all of them modified their bike to have some extra hp, but before they have learned to use the right wrist
