Thank you for posting this vid :) i already watched tons of ' colour correcting' ones but yours was one of the best! I think i need to get a yellow concealer:) Thank you! Take care
Just finished watching your 'Common English Mistakes' video... and saw this is your comments for this video: "This is inaccurate in that you can not prescribe any ONE option across a variety of skin tones."
>> just be careful. CANNOT is one word... silly English rule, but it is... :)
Very useful. Thank you! what would you use to decrease puffy eyes under your concealer? Also, do you beleive eye creams work at all? for example Garnier Pro-Xylane. Thank you and you totally can just email me. VickyATdigiscrapdepotDOTcom. Thank you!!!
Finally someone said what I was thinking the whole time...now my friends won't look at me wierd when talking about correctors and the color wheel! lol you're great =]
i have dark under my eyes more of a brown under tone not bluish not pinkish not yellowish .. if i use my regular concealer would turn ashy ... what do you recommend ???
This is a super nice video! Not once was I annoyed by anything you said (as opposed to most of these tutorial vids) And I love the painting on the background.
But I have a question: I have very pale skin, lot's of freckles and some blue under my eyes. I don't really use foundation beceause i have quite clear skin. So should I use salmony or yellow coloured concealer do you think?
Hi, I was wondering what you would recommend for a woman of color that has dark brown discolaration around the mouth and undereye. I've been having a hard time finding information on this.
@Anigurl1 I am actually working on a video on this exact topic right now. It should be up in about a week, so stay updated for a in depth answer to your question. A colored corrector would be great :D
very informative video. i've often mentally criticized people for promoting a single color corrector as the only solution for discoloration.
as for grey pigmentation; i rarely come across it naturally, but i sometimes come across grey that requires covering after i have corrected very dark circles. sometimes you are able to neutralise the color, but there is still a grey-ish darkness under the eye. but a pink setting powder will brighten this beautifully, and is an easy way to fix that issue.
hi :) Ive never bothered to comment/ rate before, so obviously this vid is great. ur information was very helpful and so very true. I am of Polynesian decent and have herreditary dark circles which are not the typical purpleish or blue, they are brown and very dark. yellow works best for my skintone, currently using benefit's Lemon Aid yellow corrector. it's awesome stuff. love the vid cuz ur right, every case is going to be different!
Wow this is a great video! I was searching on my phone for "blue pink yellow green concealer" and yours popped up and I just had a chance to watch it! Very informative. I def will reference your video in my next video. I subbed! You're awesome.
By the way, boy gurus are best! =) well that and asians haha.
Very helpful info you've put out there. I've never really used color concealers before & just got the Liquid Color Corrector Set from Coastal Scents, now I have a better idea on how to go about using them. :)
@AndreaZeld7 You should be able to get it on eBay still. I often see it on ebay. Just look up Guerlain concealer or guerlain touch or guerlain palette :D
@productqueen1 I could definitely consider finding someone who would let me put orange concealer on their under-eyes. Honestly, it goes on really sheer if you use a fluffy concealer brush. The NYX ones are only a couple dollars, so I think you should just give it a shot and experiment. I bet you would be happily surprised :D -Michael
@TheSublimeAgent I guess I don't see how the oramge won't still show through. My skin is fair-med. (no tan) with the color sircles that sound like they need orange. I don't see me being left without an orange tinit though.
@PrincessHair00 Haha, best comment!! I kinda thought the same thing once I saw the default picture with the rainbow color wheel....I wish it had been a political advocacy video, but colored concealers should suffice for now :D
Thanks so much for this. I used to use just one color concealer but now and branching out and trying a few different colors. It's very helpful to see how different people use the various colors (and brushes too!) I am also glad you cover high end and low end products. I use mostly middle of the road cosmetics but if I want to play, NYX is great! I will have to get some of that orange concealer!
Very helpful, thank you! For my redness and reactive skin, I have used La Roche-Posay Rosaliac Anti-Redness Moisturizer, which has a light green tint to it. Having very pale (pink) skin, finding good quality concealers is difficult so that they don't look too thick and yellow. The Guerlain version looks just perfect.
My sister and I were laughing when you said if you have redness all over your face because that's definitely us! I'm on RetinA for my acne (which is all over my face) but it was so funny when you mentioned that for some reason. Do you know any green primers that give a not so sheer coverage? I have used the MUFE Oil Free Green Primer and I find I still need to put green concealer all over my face.
@noellehedlund Aww, that is such a cute story. I saw this uber masculine guy sheepishly walk into sephora the other day (who clearly had struggled with acne or an overall red flush)...so I know how hard it can be. Hmm, I have always wondered if colored primers were sufficient. I imagine a primer cant be too green or it would really look strange, even if it fully neutralized the red :/ but I think you should probably stick to the concealers and test out diff options, as these have more pigment.
@noellehedlund I dont know of any primers that would be more effective than the MUFE one, but I will def keep my eye out for you :D Thanks so much for your feedback, this really helps me out as well as others :D
@simonsaysmeow4 When a little blood leaks beneath your eyes, it creates the dark circles when the blood begins to oxidize ... hehe, it sounds gross, but it happens to almost everyone :D
love your vids. What do i have to do to conceal wrinkles? You should definitly do some tutorials to demonstrate all your great products. Have a wonderfull day
@Pescaicho Hehe, I dont mind giving her a heart attack. I use her brushes and a lot of her other products, so Im sure she'd be fine...haha. :D Thanks for watching :D
@TheSublimeAgent Yeah hehe, I don´t agree in many of her opinions and dislike her concelers, by the way, pls I need your advice of a product for the greenish inner corners of my eyes. Thanks and love :)
@Pescaicho An inner-eye highlight would seem like the best option. How about also trying a pinkish eyeshadow or a pink concealer? Both of these would really help neutralize the green and open your eyes in a fresh, beautiful way :D
I totally agree with you...when I first started makeup I had difficult time with concealers and color correcting cause I was just going by what ppl say " it has to be done this way " this video should have been around 3 years ago lol
@rosewitch2000 Hehehe. I only owned one concealer three years ago...I am glad you have figured everything out. Mis-information can be a dangerous thing. Thanks so much for watching and commenting :D
@Verogrekos Thank you for telling me this. I was worried it appeared rude. I know everyone has a different perspective, but I am seriously against mis-information :) Thank you so much for watching :D I appreciate your opinion!
@Tamoorah Aww, thanks for your feedback....and wasnt it exciting that a Lebanese woman won Miss USA. I read your twitter and I agree :D Thanks for watching :D
@misskyurie I have heard these same mixed feelings, but I am a proponant of them...I imagine they are appropriate for most people. If used incorrectly or too heavily, the color will show up on the face. But if you use a little diligence, everything will turn out flawlessly :D
Wow! you are one smart boy. Im glad to see someone puts there brain to good use, love your vocabulary. I feel like you raised my IQ by just watching this =DD Good one as always.
@Roxi462 Hehe, I am glad you consider my video "good use". I am here to help others, and that is very inspiring of you to say! I think it is definitely more important that someone carry on a conversation than anything else. -Michael
@Angelrosegirl1 Thank you! That is so inspiring! I appreciate it. I love spreading info...or the ability for people to make their own informed decisions :D
@kevseb66 Haha, Im sorry. Just trying to be humorous. Doesnt go over with everyone. I think these are only around 3-4$ which is a really cheap price in comparison to most others. :D Thanks for commenting :D
Honestly Michael I love love you! You ahve taught me so so much within such little time. I agree with you aswell I get told all the time I'm doing something wrong because "Someone" said this is how you do it. If you knew any better you would know everyone is has different needs when it comes to makeup and it's subjective!
@iwanted2c1video That is so great! Thanks for your feedback, you have a great perspective. Indeed, it does take a lot of trial and error. I am glad I could help a bit with this video :D
@MAC4daze Hehe...I perfer making deposits over debits...so today has been a great day :D Thanks for commenting!! p.s. its easier for me to do two videos at a time (it takes so long to process in editing :/)
Giorgio armani has amazing color correctors they come in tubes with a brush they have a runny consistency but they set nicely and don't settle in lines, i have the orange yellow and pink and i think they have a lavender and pale green which i don't have i mix them with my foundation, use them instead of concealer, and sometimes as a base under my foundation & i get so many complements on my skin when i use the pink as a base. you should try them they're really good i think the best i have used
@dalal784 I have considered the green one in the tube (I actually saw it today while I was picking up the bronzer...urgh). I have heard they are too runny, but you have changed my mind. On the wish list the GA correctors go :D
thank you for slaying everyone elses concealer video I've seen alot of your in depth videos and you are incredibly intelligent sometimes I even get lost if I don't pay attention lol
@nodelin Hehe "slaying". It's ok not to pay attention, just get the main points. I am trying to make the videos a little shorter and more to the point, I just like talking haha. Thanks for your comment :D
I LOVE blue color correctors! Its an option a lot of people don't realize is used for a lot of different TV personalities. I love it. This is a great video I love this one. Correctors are essential.
@oreonshadow Yes, NYX is a great option if the EP one is a bit too expensive. I think you can get all four of their color correctors for around $12...at least on eBay you can :D Thanks for commenting -Michael
@victoriacakes Yes, for blue, they will definitely clean it up. Just use a light hand and have fun experimenting! Orange is underhyped and I think it is an essential :D
@codycouture1 I actually wrote a 250 page book on the word "subject/subjective"...still working on it actually. Analyzed from a postmodern context, the term is really dimensional. In essence, subjectivity is an illusion in that one has to appropriate some type of object in relation to a "sovereign" subject, which, of course, is itself an (and I hesitate to use the term) *illusion*...You know, the whole Other/other, ego, mirroring stage junk.
@msfililocalola That sounds like such a busted recommendation (though I am sure it works) You think they would just make one instead of making the customer make due with mixing stuff. Hehe. :D But then they want to sell two products instead of one, so that is just a corporate tactic. MAC Msfs are the only products that make me have love for MAC...they need to step it up sometimes D:
@giltgold Hehe, I felt a little caddy at first when I was watching this video before editing...I figured "oh well," i'll leave it all in. :D Thanks for the comment. I am happy this helped -Michael
When I dont get enough sleep I get dark circles and they are kind of purple and I find using yellow concealers work best.( a tiny bit) Then I top it off with a flesh color concealer. I am so glad you did this because everyone says to use salmon concealer and I purchased it and it was kind of a waste of my money. It just did not work for me.
@livegorgeouslygreen Oh awesome!! Thanks for the feedback...it helps me and it also helps other learn from peoples' experiences. I really appreciate it!! i bet the salmon concealer will come in handy some day...make sure to keep it around. Thanks again :D
@lisecta1 Oh awesome!! You probably already knew most of this stuff, but thanks so much for watching. It is a great day when you find something that truly works for YOU! Thanks again :)
@TheSublimeAgent I already knew some of this stuff but the way you say things is so clear to understand that I find every single video of yours absolutely helpful..
Micheal: This was so very helpful and well thought out. Thanx so much for doing this particular vid. I totally get your point. I think generally speaking the true issue is the dynamic is just completely on a different level with respect to some other "gurus". But I am so glad I found you. Keep it up. I completely enjoy them.
Thanks, this was very interesting and helpful! I will definitely buy a couple of the NYX correctors, and try them as I need them!
I keep going back and forth as to whether I should use a green primer. I have rosacea, but a mild/medium case of it (although when I get hot, my face gets very red, very quickly). I am always afraid that if I use the green primer, that my face might have a green tinge....what is your opinion on this? Thanks! Annette
@meszaros9 Wow, that is too much!! Thank you so much! I do put a lot of effort in my videos, and I am so happy to do them :D Thanks for the sweet inspiration :D :D
@ginabinawina99 I think that the reason why so many makeup artists and companies (aside from michelle phan) recommend the salmon/apricot concealers is the combination of both orange, pink and yellow making it a more universal and appropriate shading for the majority and hitting more of the opposite compliments. I agree that one shouldn't speak in absolutes, though.
You are so right about gurus on YT. I have been watching for a few months and I have learned quite a bit, however some is confusing and I am glad that you are pointing these things out. So glad I subed to you. Keep up the good work. THUMBS UP:)))
@09grandnana Thank you so much for your feedback!! It is very much appreciated. I will always try to be as helpful and accurate as possible. Indeed, it is never good to speak in absolutes. Thanks so much for watching :D -Michael
@emeraldc83 Trust me, it is my absolute pleasure!! I do put a lot of work into the videos, and I am so happy that you appreciate them. Thanks for the comment! -Michael
michellephan is actually dumb.... she really is.... doesnt know anything about make up... ive realised A LOT of "gurus" on YT... are so bad at make up,.... and the credit goes to the lighting and photography for the pics they and also the quality of the camera.... euurggghh thats me venting lol they all like to preach the basics.. and im glad ur actually telling us things that we need to know... i thought i was weird coz i wear an orange concealer and no1 else on YT does lol
@howru38 Definitely feel free to vent anytime :D Yes, I started making videos out of the same concerns that you share. I appreciate your feedback...it helps me get a better perspective about what people want to see. -Michael :D
Thanks for doing this video! It really is different for everyone, not on size fits all. Case in point, yellow helps neutralize redness in my case the best.
@Vindicated15 Hmmm, well all I can say is that it depends. However, I am compelled to say yes, but it will take a bit of experimentation. Truly, darker tones still experience true colored tones (gray, red, purple, etc.)...thus correctors would be beneficial. Just experiment and have fun!
@TheFloridaButterfly Aww, awesome!! I am trying to make each video as good as possible. Thanks so much for watching. I really appreciate your kind words :D
@falloutmnky I agree!! The statement I made brought about a different effect than I had intended. And, yes, makeup art is "philosophical" to a degree, but it depends on the makeup artist. Many do not get the dimensionalities to the trade....but the good ones do! :D Thanks for the comment
Thankyou I truly believe more people should learn about color theory to better their makeup skills

@misskyurie I have heard these same mixed feelings, but I am a proponant of them...I imagine they are appropriate for most people. If used incorrectly or too heavily, the color will show up on the face. But if you use a little diligence, everything will turn out flawlessly :D

NYX doesn't sell anything for 5 cents. Saying that makes you sound like such the makeup snob.

Giorgio armani has amazing color correctors they come in tubes with a brush they have a runny consistency but they set nicely and don't settle in lines, i have the orange yellow and pink and i think they have a lavender and pale green which i don't have i mix them with my foundation, use them instead of concealer, and sometimes as a base under my foundation & i get so many complements on my skin when i use the pink as a base. you should try them they're really good i think the best i have used
dalal784 1 year ago
@dalal784 I have considered the green one in the tube (I actually saw it today while I was picking up the bronzer...urgh). I have heard they are too runny, but you have changed my mind. On the wish list the GA correctors go :D
TheSublimeAgent 1 year ago
@TheSublimeAgent they are too runny but i have found that when you let them dry for a bit before blending them, then you get the most out of them
dalal784 1 year ago

@oreonshadow Yes, NYX is a great option if the EP one is a bit too expensive. I think you can get all four of their color correctors for around $12...at least on eBay you can :D Thanks for commenting -Michael

i will definitely try the orange nyx concealer for under my eyes. they are sooo blue/purple and i never thought about using orange. thanks!

@victoriacakes Yes, for blue, they will definitely clean it up. Just use a light hand and have fun experimenting! Orange is underhyped and I think it is an essential :D
TheSublimeAgent 1 year ago
so you're saying that the word subjective is subjective??? hahah I loved your shout out to michelle phan!
MUFE makes a host of amazing colored primers!
codycouture1 1 year ago
@codycouture1 I actually wrote a 250 page book on the word "subject/subjective"...still working on it actually. Analyzed from a postmodern context, the term is really dimensional. In essence, subjectivity is an illusion in that one has to appropriate some type of object in relation to a "sovereign" subject, which, of course, is itself an (and I hesitate to use the term) *illusion*...You know, the whole Other/other, ego, mirroring stage junk.
TheSublimeAgent 1 year ago
@msfililocalola That sounds like such a busted recommendation (though I am sure it works) You think they would just make one instead of making the customer make due with mixing stuff. Hehe. :D But then they want to sell two products instead of one, so that is just a corporate tactic. MAC Msfs are the only products that make me have love for MAC...they need to step it up sometimes D:

When I dont get enough sleep I get dark circles and they are kind of purple and I find using yellow concealers work best.( a tiny bit) Then I top it off with a flesh color concealer. I am so glad you did this because everyone says to use salmon concealer and I purchased it and it was kind of a waste of my money. It just did not work for me.
livegorgeouslygreen 1 year ago
@livegorgeouslygreen Oh awesome!! Thanks for the feedback...it helps me and it also helps other learn from peoples' experiences. I really appreciate it!! i bet the salmon concealer will come in handy some day...make sure to keep it around. Thanks again :D

lisecta1 1 year ago

Thanks! Annette

you always crack me up w/ the word popups!! "morf" hahahaha
ginabinawina99 1 year ago
@ginabinawina99 I think that the reason why so many makeup artists and companies (aside from michelle phan) recommend the salmon/apricot concealers is the combination of both orange, pink and yellow making it a more universal and appropriate shading for the majority and hitting more of the opposite compliments. I agree that one shouldn't speak in absolutes, though.

michellephan is actually dumb.... she really is.... doesnt know anything about make up... ive realised A LOT of "gurus" on YT... are so bad at make up,.... and the credit goes to the lighting and photography for the pics they and also the quality of the camera.... euurggghh thats me venting lol they all like to preach the basics.. and im glad ur actually telling us things that we need to know... i thought i was weird coz i wear an orange concealer and no1 else on YT does lol

Would these colors work the same for all shades of skin tones? (Specifically darker tones)
Vindicated15 1 year ago
@Vindicated15 Hmmm, well all I can say is that it depends. However, I am compelled to say yes, but it will take a bit of experimentation. Truly, darker tones still experience true colored tones (gray, red, purple, etc.)...thus correctors would be beneficial. Just experiment and have fun!

makeup art is just as philosophical as traditional art...
falloutmnky 1 year ago
@falloutmnky I agree!! The statement I made brought about a different effect than I had intended. And, yes, makeup art is "philosophical" to a degree, but it depends on the makeup artist. Many do not get the dimensionalities to the trade....but the good ones do! :D Thanks for the comment
