The protein shake work just fine as it meets the requirements, but I gotta tell you the scale thing would concern me. I personally found that weighing in daily was critical and even after meeting and exceeding my goal I still way strategically at least 4 times/week. Definitely keep me posted on your progress as I'd love to hear about your success!
Hi there, I'm on my second week doing the slow carb diet and I feel great I'm following it pretty much to the book but I have a bit of struggle with breakfast so this week I have introduced an isolate soya protein shake of around 35g of protein in the morning within 30mins of waking up. My question is if this is still ok as my scale broke and I had my lady issue last week so I don't want to disappoint myself. I feel lighter but I've not seen anyone on protein shakes with the slow carb diet.
Have you gone thru the book yet? Here shares some great info on how to make sure you stay safe even if diabetic. Technically whole grain crackers doesn't fit into the slow carb diet, but I've eaten ezekiel bread and it hasn't seemed to had any negative effect for fat loss. That being said if you follow the plan you will see results no questions asked...
I just started today and my coal is to loose just 10 pounds. I am afreid this diet doesn´t work. you know, i am type 1 diabetic and the insulin i take by a pump doesn´t allow me to loose weight easily. Besides i can´t do exercise right now because of my schedule. So thede factors are very important to my sucess... Can i have cofee and cinammon and whole grain crackers for breakfast? What else can i eat for not being hungry during the morning? thanjs a lot, you look great. Veronica
I started slow carb December 28th then lost 10lbs by February 1st with no exercise. I then added 4x20min swimming per week and things picked up again. I lost a further 6lbs in 2 weeks. Great results.. But I'm back to the original weight and really struggling. I think this is the most 'successful' eating lifestyle I've tried because it's the one I've stuck to the longest. But it seems that, like any form of food restriction, the slow carb diet shares the same potential longer term downfalls.
No not at all, just following the slo carb diet outlined in the book. I'm now at my target weight so I do "cheat" a little more often than just on cheat day but otherwise still follow pretty tightly to that diet. I feel great, in the best shape of my life and don't at all feel deprived of anything...
Free days are awesome and I'm always back down to pre cheat day weight by Monday or Tuesday although I can fluctuate as much as 8 lbs on those days. Was this your first one? I've gotten into the habit of not weighing myself the day after cheat day as it can get discouraging...
How are your free days? I gained the 5lbs I lost right back after the binge day, even though I followed it to a "T". Im so upset about it - im hoping maybe you can shed some light. Im taking all my suppliments, exercises, the whole nine and im more bloated than ever.

That's awesome stuff on both parts. I'm still cranking along and anticipate having a 6 pack for first time in my life in 2 weeks or so.

It worked for me. I am moving towards a paleo diet, but I credit 4H-b for getting me started on the right path -- and delivering great results.

Day #42 207.8 lbs
Day #35 210.6 lbs
Day #28 213.2 lbs
Day #21 215.6 lbs

I've lost 5 pounds in about 5 days. That's with weight training and just a tad bit of cardio.
