no, the country is divided in a densely populated Flanders that speak Dutch, and a less densely populated part that's called Wallonia and speaks French. Brussels is officially bilingual, although in practice it's almost completely French.

Liège is a city in Wallonia (= French speaking)

@quatlen Passing on the right is generally not allowed in Europe, apart from exit lanes. That 6:16 was not illegal per se (no passing ban) but it was quite dangerous as it is a two-lane road not suited for 3 cars next to eachother. He almost forced me on the sidewalk.

But they generally have an erratic driving behavior in Belgium, the country ranks among the worst in Europe in traffic fatalities...

@quatlen All of Europe. Although Flanders is performing better, both Flanders and Wallonia rank lower than many eastern European countries which traditionally were leading in traffic fatalities.

Wallonia - 30,4 fatalities in 1000 traffic accidents (3.300.000 inhabitants)

Flanders - 12,9 fatalities in 1000 traffic accidents (6.200.000 inhabitants)

Brussels - 5,1 fatalities in 1000 traffic accidents (1.100.100 inhabitants)

Belgium as a whole is not doing it the best but it's definitively not the worst as suggested here.
